Baby in X-Ray Machine No Mistake

By Debbie Schlussel
Most press reports about the at LAX’s airport security checkpoint brand this “an innocent mistake” as did airport official Paul Haney. Or they branded her “an inexperienced traveler.”grandmother who put her 1-month-old grandson through the X-Ray machine
But this was neither a mistake nor did it have anything to do with inexperience. It had to do with one thing–the grandmother DOES NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. She chose not to learn English deliberately and, therefore, endangered her grandson.
One wonders if she was even an American citizen or here legally. If only reporters had the diligence or interest to check her status. Predictably, they did not.

Her immigration status is a non-issue. The fact that she couldn’t speak english is the issue. And how do you know that she deliberately didn’t learn it? Don’t make up facts please, just report the story. I agree that this was a very very stupid move, and it almost certainly stemmed from her inability to read English , and, apparently, her complete lack of common sense(would you send a baby in a plastic bin on a conveyor belt into a black abyss, regardless of what language signs around you are in?), but again, the reporters had no business digging into her records.

I have way more questions than what her immigration status is. First of all, was this Grandma’s first trip on an airplane? How did she get here in the first place? She isn’t some ancient woman -I believe that I read she is in her late 50’s. Was she travelling all alone with a one month old? Where were the parents? Was there any proof of her actually being the grandmother (i.e., birth certificate)? Is it not possible that this woman might be a baby trafficker? This story stinks like a lot of other ones where the PC reporters aren’t getting the whole story. If she hadn’t put the baby through the x-ray scanner, we wouldn’t be talking about her. Because she did this bizarre thing, I think more questions should have been asked and answered. I can see that having to have a passport to go to Canada and Mexico starting in January is going to make things very interesting.

I have to agree with Debbie on this one. Her immigration status IS an issue. It is relevant because the refusal of a whole society to assimilate into American life has jeopardized the health and safety of a helpless infant. The lack of value of human life by outsiders never ceases to amaze me. In America we are taught to cherish and protect our children. In Los Angeles alone they have hundreds of thousands of illegals having children who become our dependants via welfare and other social programs. If only we could claim them on our tax returns.
There is no doubt in my mind that any and all medical care that child recieved was paid for by the Medi-Cal program. But why would the reporters in the fictional capital of Aztlan issue any information on the immigration status of the grandmother- to them it is a non-issue, it is just an accepted way of life.

Predictably they didn’t check… whether she was legal.
Isn’t that the TRUTH. Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil–is all they say. Thanks ICE, INF and whomever else we ought to be ripping on.

Was she Mooselum? May be another airport security “test”.

This grandmother must be mentally retarded.
Any sane, normal human being -regardless of being illegal immigrant or not, speaking, reading English or just barking- would’ve known that you do not put a human being in the X-Ray luggage machine.
That’s how I see it.
Of course, it would’ve helped if she knew some English, unless she just moved from a remote area of Mars!!
But again, for me, common sense is the issue here.
Has anybody asked her if she just wanted to get rid of her grandson?
One more thing, if she was an experienced traveler (now, she’s not!!) as she claimed, why she didn’t lay down on the conveyor belt to scan herself too?

Correction:
if she was an INexperienced traveler…

I wrote to the idiot reporter asking about immigration status. She said that the police did not release that info. Of course the idiot didn’t think to ask. Was that grandmother on drugs or what?

Great, let’s import more illiteracy, poverty, stupidity, and disease.
