Barack Hussein Obama: Once a Muslim, Always A Muslim

By Debbie Schlussel
**** UPDATE, 01/30/08: EXCLUSIVE – Obama’s Nation of Islam Staffers, Edward Said & “Inflexible Jews” Causing Mid-East Conflict: An Obama Insider Reveals the Real Barack
**** UPDATE, 01/25/07: Barack Hussein Obama’s alleged debunking of Islamic background raises even MORE questions. ****
**** UPDATE, 01/19/07: Looks like Hillary Clinton’s camp agrees with me and has dug up more info that confirms my suspicions about Obama and his Muslim background, including his attendance at a Wahabbi (ie., extremist Sunni) Madrassa (Islamic religious academy). Hillary’s camp says Obama is covering up his Muslim past. Why? ****
Many months ago, readers began asking me whether Barack Obama is Muslim. Since he identifies as a Christian, I said, “no,” and responded that he was not raised by his Kenyan father.
But, then, I decided to look further into Obama’s background. His full name–as by now you have probably heard–is Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. Hussein is a Muslim name, which comes from the name of Ali’s son–Hussein Ibn Ali. And Obama is named after his late Kenyan father, the late Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., apparently a Muslim.
And while Obama may not identify as a Muslim, that’s not how the Arab and Muslim Streets see it. In Arab culture and under Islamic law, if your father is a Muslim, so are you. And once a Muslim, always a Muslim. You cannot go back. In Islamic eyes, Obama is certainly a Muslim. He may think he’s a Christian, but they do not.

barackobama.jpgislamiccrescent.jpg

Then, there are the other items in his background. As best-selling author Scott Turow wrote in Salon, Obama went to a Muslim school for two years in Indonesia. His mother, Anna, married an Indonesian man (likely another Muslim, as Indonesia is Muslim-dominated and has the largest Islamic population in the world).
And Obama has a “born-again” affinity for the nation of his Muslim father, Kenya, and his Kenyan sister. (Although Kenya is largely Christian, it has a fast-growing Muslim population that has engaged in a good deal of religious violence and riots against Christians. And Kenyan courts will apply Sharia law, when the participants are Muslim.) Wrote Turow:

Obama’s father died in a traffic accident in Nairobi in 1982, but while Obama was working in Chicago, he met his Kenyan sister, Auma, a linguist educated in Germany who was visiting the United States. When she returned to Kenya in 1986 to teach for a year at the University of Nairobi, Obama finally made the trip to his father’s homeland he had long promised himself. There, he managed to fully embrace a heritage and a family he’d never fully known and come to terms with his father, whom he’d long regarded as an august foreign prince, but now realized was a human being burdened by his own illusions and vulnerabilities.

So, even if he identifies strongly as a Christian, and even if he despised the behavior of his father (as Obama said on Oprah); is a man who Muslims think is a Muslim, who feels some sort of psychological need to prove himself to his absent Muslim father, and who is now moving in the direction of his father’s heritage, a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?
Is that even the man we’d want to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency, if Hillary Clinton offers him the Vice Presidential candidacy on her ticket (which he certainly wouldn’t turn down)?
NO WAY, JOSE . . . Or, is that, HUSSEIN?

JUST MY OPINION!!!!!!!
I cant believe as AMERICANS that we are even considering the idea of having BARACK OBAMA as leader of our country. Did we not learn our lesson with 9-11. Have we no heart or soul that we forget so easily all we lost on that day to allow this person to run our country. This is AMERICA not the republic of KENYA.
Do you people not think that if the BIN LADEN and all his followers went to so much trouble to seek out all the planes in which they would need to carry out their plans of torture on our great land, all the time and money spent, all the people involved to carry it out that they would not set the wheels in motion to have one of their own come into our office and destroy our country.
I am sorry but if the people of AMERICA think thats its ok to have a Represenative with a foreign SOIL background rule our country that we are no longer the LAND OF THE FREE. We are no longer the LEADING COUNTRY of the world. Do you think that KENYA OR IRAQ OR SAUDI ARABIA would allow an AMERICAN family to move there, give birth to a child and then let that child become their LEADER. I THINK NOT.
Do you people not remember all the talk of a man in a TURBAN who will be the one to start a NUCLEAR WAR. Well BARACK in that TURBAN doesn not make me want to invite him to lead our country. If we thought having the BUSHES run our country was bad enough I think we are in big trouble inviting BARACK OBAMA which to me OBAMA sounds a little to close for comfort to OSAMA, to run our country.
HAVE WE ALL GIVEN UP SO EASILY.
WE ARE AMERICANS AND AN AMERICAN SHOULD RUN OUR GREAT LAND.

Wow! I heard about people like you who were conspiracy obsessed and not swayed by facts.
I was raised Catholic and the church calls me a lapsed, not ex, Catholic. Doesn’t make me Catholic now! Look at some real sites instead of the fake news blogs you are obviously looking at.
I sincerely hope you people don’t vote. That’s probably how we got what we have now and are in the mess we are in.

just because you were catholic and now yuor not doesnt mean nothing… muslim is a completey diffeerent religion that you probably know nothing about im 16 and realize that come on use some common since he is muslim you jackass

WOW I never realized that religion isnt a choice. My mother was jewish so I must be a jew, I have no choice, just like Obama. This entire article is a ridiculous attempt at a smear on Obama, stating that he is ashamed of his heritage, because hes proud of his christianity is completely absurd.Obama never attended a muslim school either he attended a public grade school where the students were promintently muslim, just as a public school in america is prominently christian, but it is much more diverse in Indonesia. His father was raised a muslim and was a self proclaimed athiest who beat his wife and was an alchoholic. Why would an upstanding christian citzen support his father or the way he behaved. This article is a misleading smear that neglects the whole truth.

Senator Barack Obama is the finest candidate for the presidency our nation has had since John F. Kennedy and his brother, Bobby. The Bush presidency has been an unmitigated disaster for our nation and for the world. Senator Obama has the vision and the courage to begin our healing (our recuperattion) from the valley of the shadow of Bush and into a new day of brightess and openness, and to begin rebuilding our nation’s stature in the world community of nations. The Republican National Committee will go to any length to smear him and raise doubts about him, as Debbie Schlussel (whoever that is) tries her best to do in her column. We can hold our heads high again in America after the shame and corruption of the Bush years, and President Obama will elevate our thoughts and our vision to do just that!

Barack Obama was born a Muslim and spent his early childhood in a Muslim household. If he were to be declared by conservative mullahs to be an apostate (one who has forsaken Islam), he could not meet Nuri al-Maliki, Hamid Karzai, Pervez Musharraf, King Abdullah, Abu Marzen or any other Muslim leader. If they shook hands with an apostate, they would bring down a fatwa on their own heads.
But would he be declared an apostate? Koranic scholars differ.
This blogpost is balanced and has no anti-Obama agenda.

Religion matters to a lot of people. Hint: we are engaged in a world wide religious war. HMMMMM… Nobody can tell me that I can’t consider if somebody is Mormon or Muslim. Being POTUSA isn’t like getting a grilled cheese at the lunch counter. It isn’t “open to the public”. My ability to consider someone’s religion isn’t bigotry or a “religious test for office”. This clown isn’t even a decent faith healer. Somebody needs to put a montage of his “bottle of water” trick and play it endlessly during October. If he wasn’t a radical leftist JUST THAT would have had him out of the race by now because CNN, and the old networks would have shown it a hundred times as “news”.

Anybody in Texas, go vote for Hillary in the primary. I did already. The guy running for the GOP likes to be “respectful” to our enemies. He only loses control and starts screaming the F-word and threatening other Republicans. We need to keep Hillary in there as long as possible. Also, we could survive 2 years of Hill with a Dem congress followed by 2 years with the GOP in control. Obamahdi may have us all dead by then. Remember an Obama Nation is an abomination.

Obama-
Barak- is the creature “like lightning” in the Koran that transports the messenger and the message of Mohamed.
Husayn (Hussein)- Means beautiful gift from Allah. He was the grandson of Mohamed, the son of Ali. Ali was murdered over the rift of divine blood giving Mohameds descendents the right to rule. It created the Sunni/Shiite split. Hussein was to be the uniter and bring about the new unified reign of the “moslemic” empire.
Barak Hussein literally means the beautiful gift from Allah who will deliver the messenger and his Message.
What’s in a name?
This stuff is too good to make up.

who wants a president who won’t recognize the american flag? who won’t place his hand over his heart when the pledge of alliegenece is recited? i certainly don’t.
if he becomes president.. he will probably let the taliban and alquida come in here and bomb some more buildings or blow up airports.
we need a christian president who loves this country and it’s flag

I noticed that all posters have to be approved by the site owner. This probably means that my comments which contradict hers will not appear, but here I go anyway. Barak, in the Bible, leader from N Canaan who fought, with Deborah, against Jabin and Sisera. source Dictionary.com and the book of Judges, Chapter 4: “4 Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading [a] Israel at that time. 5 She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came to her to have their disputes decided. 6 She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, “The LORD, the God of Israel, commands you: ‘Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead the way to Mount Tabor.”

The author is an idiot! I fear that I will be repeating this comment many times on this blog. None of what she says is fact is actually facts. Sen. Obama never attended a Muslim school..blah..blah…blah. Once a Muslim always a Muslim? Well that is a first. I suppose I could iterate similar idiocracies such as once a dumb redneck always a dumb redneck, once a liar always a liar, so forth and so on. First, HE was never a Muslim. Second, his father’s choices were his own and do not reflect on Sen. Obama. It is unclear to me why the approx. 3 million Americans living in this country cannot see the complete and utter disgust of the rest of the world because an election is decided based upon racial, gender, and religious prejudices. Yet we love to pretend that we are so enlightened, well above the uneducated savages in other places. The majority of the people in this country are good, moral, thinking people; however, it seems the only ones writing articles and being interviewed are incapable of a logical thought process and fear what they do not understand which apparently is infinite!

IQabovemost on March 4, 2008 at 11:02 am

just to let you know its a reiligion not a redneck or a liar and once commited to this religion he might have to be a muslim forever how do you know are you a muslim expert? so dont try not to make your self look dumb

just on December 17, 2009 at 6:39 pm

By the way the post above which starts “just my opinion” saddens me that I do not have a vocabulary vast enough to describe the nonsense that was posted. Idiot, lunatic, simple simon, mild mental retardation, bigot, obviously not very well traveled, poorly educated, socially handicapped etc. None of those describe the poster justly. Hmmmm….. I will have to consult the dictionary to identify a word which means complete and utter lack of any functioning neuron!

The following link is an interview done by you tube with Obama around 5 min 30 sec they ask if he would help the people in Kenya, I noticed that he tries to get the American people to see how helping them would help us. This is where his Muslim father is from and obviously from his answer, if made president he would help them.

I am outraged that the americans would support an islamic? what are they thinking? don’t they know islam is part of the evil access?
but believe you me, i’m going to do anything i can to stop him from winning.
this is part of the typical liberal douche bag attitude of unpatriotism and hatred of american values. liberals will do anything to destroy real white american values. I wish reagan was still prez, i bet he’s turning in his grave.

Odysseus on March 9, 2008 at 3:37 am

Voting for Obama and jumping on his bandwagon is another event of American voter ignorance, as when George Bush was elected and the American public supported the war in Iraq in the beginning.
What most people don’t know and are not talking about is the perception of Obama in the Muslin world is that he IS Muslim because he was born of a Muslim father.
It doesn’t matter to them what religion he is now or says he is now.
This could be a can of worms that I personally don’t want to open by voting for him.

timeforchange on March 9, 2008 at 10:08 am

I am very disappointed by this blog, and by the comments under it.
“American” is not an ethnicity, it is not a religious persuasion.
America is an idea. A fragile idea that liberty and self-government are the sine non qua of human happiness. That Obama has a funny-sounding name, or a foreign parent (who died while Barack was a toddler), has nothing to do with how “American” he is.
For over two decades (long before he was involved in public life) Barack has been a member of his local church…so I find it no more likely that he is a Muslim than that Mike Huckabee is a Muslim…
That said…what if he were a Muslim?
Islam, like every other religion, has its fundamentalist crackpots…but it also has pious, decent, hard-working people who — while they believe that they are uniquely following truth and that the rest of us are in trouble following death — have no urge to destroy everyone else.
Islam also, in no small measure, saved the West. While Europe had descended into the dark ages, it was Islamic scholars who preserved ancient greek thought…and when the West re-discovered these texts, it was a major spark of the Renaissance and a catapult to Western Modernity…
As for the comment that an American (I guess this is supposed to be code for a “white christian”) would never be allowed to lead in Saudi Arabia, etc. I agree! And that is the reason I choose to live here and not Saudi Arabia. America, at her best, represents the greatest of human achievement.
That we are a magnet for the world’s best and brightest, and that we have the wisdom and commitment to our values to allow them to help us, is a strength; not a weakness.
The “Barack has a funny name, he must be part of a 9-11-esque plot” is the height of stupidity. Barack is clearly not a muslim, but — even if he was — it would have zero to do with his ability to lead. Heck, it would be hard to do much worse than the current occupant of 1900 Pennsylvania Ave. As Martin Luther put it: “I would rather be ruled by a wise Turk than a foolish Christian”

With the exception of ‘freedomlover’, a good portion of all the comments (including the blogger) are largely undereducated with regards to Islam. I whole-heartedly agree to ‘freedomlover’ and I too, am a Muslim. The people here hastily consume the garbage that the bulk of the media puts out about Islam, and they fill in the rest of the information themselves with false assumptions. In every religion there is the good, the bad and the ugly. Islam is no different. Neither is Christianity, Judaism or any of the 50-billion other religions that exist in this world today. When we see extremists, we shouldn’t see this as a fault of the religion they follow, but we should see this as the fault of how they, themselves, see THEIR religion. The KKK misinterpret and at times, innovate the bible according to their needs in justifying their actions. The same kind of terrorists do this with Islam as well. These people (by ‘these people’ I mean the blogger and all the commenters on here) should go to scholared Imam (the Muslim equivalant of a priest) and ask questions. Don’t take my post as an insult, but rather as a suggestion to educate yourself PROPERLY through PROPER resources and not to take the bullshit that the media and Islamic-haters spew out. Thanks.

brothers,,
let me tell you what i think,,
you all the people who said bad words about Islam is so unconscious to what Islam teaches, not only its people, but also the whole world and even universe. of course you r included sons (who said bad words about Islam).
Islam teaches peace,
prophet Muhammad SAW even said that hurting a non-Islam means hurting him.
you see that?
my prophet gives his name over the people who get hurt from muslims. his people, his Ummah. what a beautiful teaching?
that’s why it’s not reasonable to say islam is a rough religion,,
think twice sons,,
you people should learn more about islam,
everything that islam says (what Qur’an says) is explainable by science.
this not means that Obama is better to be a muslim or something,,,
he’d better be who he is and walks as Obama,,
not as a Muslim or Christian,,
nothings wrong with that,,
it’s just my thought,,
my thought my religion’s thought,,
i’m opened for comment and debate,,

I am Canadian, and have been watching with interest your election process. Saying that I have been very wary of Mr. Obama. From the first his seems to be saying one thing and thinking another, Isreal is very wary of him. As you know all Muslims consider Jews dogs. I am just listening to his speech on racism and from this speech I get the impression that if you are not black, you are in for a rough ride if he becomes president of your country.

sudzer on March 18, 2008 at 11:46 am

I strongly believe its fate that I came across this site because this blog solidifies my belief on how segregated and shallow this country really is. For goodness sakes the guy (Obama) blatently didnt grow up with his father and has attended a Christian church from the well before his beginnings in politics and everyone searching for an apparent reason to not vote for a black man has linked him to one thing or the other. Muslim, Bin Laden, denying his own mother wow.LEts think for a moment this all is blatently absurd.
The last comment by the Canadian was as far-fetched as every other comment I’ve read on this site thus far saying that if you’re not black then you’re in trouble. I simply think he was right in his speech America has to move past racism. This country is in a state of disaster as we speak ( a recession, a devalued dollar)and at the speed the non-western powers are moving we need someone who is not easily bought but can have the americans best interest at heart. Someone told me last week that the populus that started this country isnt ready to discuss race and the more I read the cheap blows thrown at this genuine guy( compared to misappropriating Mccain or whitewater Hilary) the more I’m starting to believe it. Lets grow up people and focus on the bigger picture at hand –a better America.

edsbowlingshoe on April 8, 2008 at 11:08 am

Reading this blog and its comments sickened me. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for your ignorance, racism, and bigotry. My name is Christian so I’m certainly not a covert Muslim, but I am still sickened by the intollerance that you people exhibit when you slander others with this garbage. While Obama isn’t a muslim, I think it’s sad that he has to try so hard to dissasociate himself from any notions that he could be connected to a non-practicing muslim. Followers of Islam are monotheistic people who worship the same God as Christians and Jews. Extream fundamentalism in any religion produces violence (i.e. Christians who bomb abortion clinics or fundamentalist Muslims who carry out suicide attacks).
Enought with the stupid “Bannana Hussy Obamba”, it isn’t clever or insightful.
I think I have a better understanding of American values than any of the bigots who believe that Obama is somehow the anti-Christ, that any possible associations with Islam mean that he’s a terrorist, or that being black is somehow a huge advantage of his. Who could say that being black is a political advantage when he is subjected to such racism and intollerance as this. America was founded on the beliefs that “all men are created equall”. I think a few of you need to review your history before trumpeting your unwavering patriatism.
In these comments, I see parallels to the racism of the Jim Crow south in the early 20th century, the anti-semetism and systematic slaughter of millions of jews in the hollocaust, and the same intollerant slander that the founders of America hoped to overcome in forming a new nation.
These views go against all the founding ideals of the country that I love.

The following quote was taken from the website shown below. My comment follows.
http://bsimmons.wordpress.com/2006/12/15/islamic-lying-taqiyya-and-kitman/
Question: Are Muslims permitted to lie?
Summary Answer: Muslim scholars teach that Muslims should be truthful to each other.
There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. One of those circumstances is to gain the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.
__________________________________________________
So even if Obama was a Muslim, he is permitted to lie and hide his true self. If he IS a Muslim, do you think he would get elected if he stood up and admitted it? Of course not. But wouldn’t it be a great coup if he was able to conceal and hide his true intent and make it to the top of the American government?
I don’t know what Obama is but where there is smoke, there’s fire. So just to stay on the safe side, I say you have to cut this one loose.

It is disappointing to follow a link to this site and find, not facts, but assumptions: eg. Obama’s mother married an Indonesian man who was (therefore) probably Muslin.
OK, 88% of Indonesians are Muslim but the spread is patchy. The probability of Obama’s step-father’s religion would depend upon the area in Indonesia he came from.
More facts please, less made up “facts”.

Thee Bruno has offered some exciting new information. It’s a pity he hasn’t offered any evidence to support his claims eg. that BO’s first name was originally “Baraka”. His posting is another reason fellow Americans have trouble sorting out the issues from the propaganda.

juan machine on April 30, 2008 at 2:04 am

Thee Bruno must be referring to a religion I haven’t heard of. What exactly does the term Muzlum mean? Is it anything like Muslim. I would think that an Arabic scholar who said that BO’s real name is “Baraka” which is an Arabic word (according to him an his lunch-time inspirational discoveries from his imagination) would know that Muslim is not spelled Muzlum.

juan machine on April 30, 2008 at 2:10 am

Anonymous twit posted an excellent message. He IS an anonymous twit. His understanding of Islam is confined to schoolyard level. Most Muslims are very moderate like MOST Christians. It is already permissible to swear on the Koran in Court if you are a Muslim. NB. Muslims are not forced to swear on the Bible (it’s a book that anonymous twit probably has never read). Just more decerebrate hate speech.
PS. I am not Muslim.

OK, now I’m thouroughly confused. Is Obama a Muslim or is he part of a Black Christian Church?
He cannot be both.

You all are a bunch of ignorant fascist nazi types. This country needs to be split up into a new civil war so you can have your trailer park racist inbred fake christian fantasy and the rest of us can live in sanity and peace. would love to start a new civil war with you a-holes.

Actually Baraka is a Kenyan name. As Muslims began trading along the coast of Kenya and intermingling with the natives several Arab and African words were jumbled and put together and that’s how u have Swahili. And is it so wrong to know your family, it’s natural. I am a Christian from Kenya ( I am a meru) and my dad left when I was five. As the child of two Revs. I am def. a Christian but I missed him and my mom’s family that I never met before. If he attended a Madrassa, that is between him and God but wanting to get to know his heritage is nothing to be ashamed of.
