Hilarious VIDEO: Girls in US More Unhinged, Stupid Than Ever

By Debbie Schlussel

**** UPDATE: Some readers say they can’t access the video on this site. If you cannot access it on this site, you can view it here. ****

When I was a teen, none of the girls I knew (including myself) was this crazy and unhinged, especially over something sooooo stupid.  So, I have a theory.  Along with the theories that anti-biotics in animals, etc. are bringing puberty to American girls at earlier ages than ever, I think those chemicals are stunting their emotional growth and maturity and other functions of the brain.  It’s got to be.  Watch this whole video–especially the girl at the end–and I think you’ll agree.  Pathetic.  But, hey, at least it’s about some wholesome guys, rather than trash.  Thank Heaven for small favors.

Didn’t young American girls behave this way for the Beatles or Elvis?

My favorite line from the video:
“They’re so hot! Everything’s cool!”

NB: Were they this crazy and unhinged? I don’t know ‘cuz I wasn’t around then. DS

Norman Blitzer on September 2, 2010 at 11:47 am

Yes, you are correct they were this unhinged back in the days of the Beatles and Elvis. I wasn’t around back then either but they have this wonderful invention called “video”…

Norma on September 3, 2010 at 8:22 am

    Answering– better late than never.

Yes. It was like this. My firt concert was the Beatles, at 13. I was just this crazy. For that matter, all us Adam Lambert fanatics are still like this inside when we are at one of his concerts. Stupid, I know — must be some kind of hormonal thing. I’m normally a regular (?), conservative woman.

impeachthedude on February 14, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Teen girls do tend to be crazy around guys they have a crush on. Its one thing to have crush, its another thing to lose all sense of proportion.

Maybe the US is getting dumber.

NormanF on September 2, 2010 at 12:09 pm

Hilarious and Sick.

CaliforniaScreaming on September 2, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Careful now….these kids might on the Supreme Court someday.

Not Ovenready on September 2, 2010 at 1:00 pm

…..no chance of that; they’re heterosexual.

echofoxtrot on September 2, 2010 at 2:22 pm

Girls are so vapid and disgraceful here in USA.

Again, I recommend “Female Chauvinist Pigs” by Ariel Levy. Of course she is a Lib, but she at least had the integrity to write a book on how disgusting woman have become. I loved the book. Of course, she received no press for it, and y’all know why.

I never thought after the 80’s that females would devolve in such a terrible fashion.

Skunky on September 2, 2010 at 1:11 pm

I sing and play guitar and write my own songs.

Why don’t I have a bevy of adoring females going crazy over me?

Hmmmm – – – is it because I am – – – OLD?

John Robert Mallernee on September 2, 2010 at 1:59 pm

Yes John, sorry, too old. No ‘American Idol’ for you!…or me for that matter. Seriously, most of us won’t receive this kind of adulation anywhere, anytime, anyhow. But if you love what you do, well that’s what really matters the most. Besides, look where most of the stars wind up anyway. Drugs, alcohol, suicide, not fun.
Do you post on YouTube? I know you’re not trying to be a superstar but it might be a great way to get your tunes heard. And that’s what most songwriters want anyway, right?

theShadow on September 3, 2010 at 12:34 am

John, never mind. I just clicked on your link and see you have found YouTube! Nice tune, nice style, very folksey. Makes me want to visit Portland in the Spring!

theShadow on September 3, 2010 at 12:45 am

There is nothing new under the sun.

Shy Guy on September 2, 2010 at 2:04 pm

I would dearly love to post an applicable joke here, but it’s a tad too blue.

The hormones coursing through teen bodies make many of them as alien as Klingons to the rest of us. Boys engage in acts of stupid bravado and try to grow three-hair beards, while girls lose all control of themselves over boys on whom they develop crushes.

I love ya Debbie…but if you personally didn’t act this way at that age, I guarantee there were any number of your classmates who did.

Islam Delenda Est on September 2, 2010 at 2:42 pm

Hey Debbie,
Nothing new here. It has been going on (this type of female teen behavior even before antibiotics in animal food). Check out the ” Sinatra Riots ” of Dec. 1942. These were the women in the greatest generation.

Rvs. on September 2, 2010 at 3:36 pm

Remember Beatlemania? I do.

JeffT on September 2, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Girls during the ’60’s acted EXACTLY like that over the Beetles.

RT on September 2, 2010 at 3:43 pm

I hate to admit this, but I probably would have gone crazy if I got to meet Duran Duran when I was about 13 or 14. Now would I have wanted someone to interview me for the news while I was flipping out? Nooooooooooooooooo way!

Angela04 on September 2, 2010 at 4:33 pm

Sam Adams on September 2, 2010 at 4:50 pm

If only Americans would love their country, its Founding Fathers, and its Constitution this much.

ramjordan on September 2, 2010 at 5:23 pm

There have been women (girls) doing this stuff for a long time. I read women were going nuts over Mozart, Sinatra, the Beatles and Elvis etc. Many young women with a lot of strong emotions and not a lot of brains and maturity. Most of them will grow up. Yes, it is stupid but mostly harmless. It’s better than drugs or criminal acts, let them have their fantasies.

Ken on September 2, 2010 at 6:55 pm

Pathological

Anonymous on September 2, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Girls have always been stupid like that….unfortunate but true… Here is one of my favorites…..

sharon on September 2, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Oh Sharon did you really have to?
My sister went to a David Cassidy concert way back when and from what she told me it was way worse than this or even the Jonas video.
Thanks for reminding me how bad some of the music was back then though. Next time someone says something like ‘well back in the day when we had real music’ I’ll just say ‘like Bobby Sherman?’

theShadow on September 3, 2010 at 12:00 am

At least the girls in this video all appear to be younger teens, ages 13-15. The girls in the YouTube link below appear to be in the 16-19 age range and still behaving in this manner. Of course, the caliber of the entertainment is slightly higher:

Well, I guess girls were like this in the past. And then they grew up to be the women who were sio, so enthused when Al Gore kissed his wife in front of the Democratic Party convention. Rush had a segment on his radio show where he interviewed one of these women after another, & they also said this showed how human and fine a person Mr. Gore was, and his act of embracing his then-wife showed what a great president he would be.

So yes, they did act this way for the Beatles, and we saw what happened when they, and others like them grew up.

Little Al on September 3, 2010 at 4:10 am

Oh, I dunno, John, my S.O. says you’re kinda cute.

But then, she was around for Beatlemania ;-).

TallerThinner on September 3, 2010 at 11:28 am

South Park nailed this madness perfectly with their episode about the promise ring/Jonas Brothers/Disney.

soyphobia on September 3, 2010 at 1:45 pm

You think this is bad? What about the GROWN women who are like this over Twilight? Please….these girls ARE emotionally immature, and anyone who has had a teenage girl, or was one, ought to know that. This is why they can’t move out and make their own decisions at this age. Making fun of them for this behavior is immature.

Go after the grown women who see their girlfriend and squeal like pigs? Shrieking and yelling. Don’t even get me started on the ones who are reading books for 13 year old girls and squealing, naming their children after the characters, and standing in long lines to see the movie. Which by the way, has classic stalker behavior patterns that obviously these women approve of or they wouldn’t be squealing like that. Make fun of THEM. THEY are the example these teen girls learn this from.

And yes, I’m a woman, I’m just a woman with dignity.

J: I’ve written about the grown women obsessed over the Twilight guys.

You must be too young to remember Beatlemania: although I never participated, girls I knew did! I thought they were pathetic, couldn’t understand it at all!

juniper on September 3, 2010 at 3:43 pm

AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! Did you notice the reporter said “not every one was let in” at 0:45 just when the video cut to a black-‘scuse me, an African-American girl? Hmmm-an attempt at a subliminal message here? You’ve got to be joking! What a riot!!

T. Y. on September 3, 2010 at 8:53 pm

Thank you, I love you in a completely platonic-you’re-awesome kind of way…

Jales on September 3, 2010 at 9:29 pm

Holy Christ Debbie, you’re embarrassing me:

Now look at this sentence:

When I was a teen, none of the girls I knew (including myself)

Try including ME for God’s sake, you went to the UW didn’t you?

pitman on September 5, 2010 at 5:22 pm

I really believe young girls have the idea they are supposed to act this way, you know…it’s contagious and fake. They cultivate this stuff.
I have never understood screaming at the top of your lungs over a singer, you can’t hear them sing.

Debbie, check the hyphen rules. You misuse hyphens all over this Web site. Better spelling would help your credibility.

But womyn are better than men, right? They’re smarter and more “humane” than men, right? That is the drumbeat drilled into the heads of our sons from the time they are children. We have richly-funded feminist studies departments wherein a bunch of vaginas earn six-figure salaries to ridicule men and to reduce them to something less than human. We don’t have to worry about a patriarchy in North America a la the theocracies of the Middle East; we have a fully-functioning secular gynocracy right here in 2010 in North America. Womyn in our culture are most strange creatures: they talk all the time about how men should give them what they want because those men may have womyn at home that they love, but plenty of womyn have male children at home and it bothers them not a whit what sort of toxic soup they are creating for those male children in our schools or in our legislative bodies (or law courts). Womyn in this culture are truly sick and repellant: they want to ridicule men, make fun of the perceived shortcomings of men, and they certainly want to diminish men – but then they want men to pay their bills for them, take them on expensive vacations, and do the fighting and dying for them.

There is something wrong with this picture – and is it any wonder why more and more men (at least those with brains) are electing to marry women elsewhere? I should also add that men are part of the problem because we mindlessly indulge womyn in this culture as a means of trying to get them to mercifully shut up. That needs to stop.

blaine hislop on September 17, 2010 at 11:21 am

Silly. Those you describe have nothing to do with American women. Looking for women “elsewhere”? Good. Stay there.

impeachthedude on February 14, 2011 at 6:27 pm

@impeachthedude:

that infantile, brainless retort sort of sums up the american female, don’t you think? If that’s the best you have to offer, then G-d help american feminism.
