New James Bond Has Many Detractors
By Debbie Schlussel
Looks like I’m not alone in dissing the new Blond . . . James Bond. USA Today reports on the multiple critics of the metro, scrawny new Bond of “Casino Royale,” Daniel Craig. There is even a site that appears a little over-obsessive, DanielCraigIsNotBond.com, if somewhat funny.
As we noted earlier, we’ll never forget his absurd utterance as an apocryphal Mossad agent in “Munich,” in which he defamed those who pursued the Islamic terrorists who slaughtered the Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics, when warned that their antics would kill innocents:
The only blood I care about is Jewish blood.
Never happened. In fact, the Mossad agents went out of there way not to kill anyone except the terrorists, and they only killed one person by accident (a case of innocent mis-identification).
Given that, we kinda like the anti-Daniel Craig site.

Debbie, I don’t have a dog in this fight: have only seen one or two films Craig has been in, and am not a fan nor do I hate him. I haven’t seen CASINO ROYALE but will because I like to make up my own mind. I might very well agree with you after I’ve seen it.
I did see MUNICH and winced when Craig’s character uttered those detestable words. (In fact, that’s only one thing I don’t like about that movie.)
But surely we need to step back, take a deep breath, and acknowledge that actors, with a few notable exceptions, don’t write their own dialog. The blame for everything that’s objectionable about MUNICH really should be placed at the doorsteps of the screenwriters, self-hating Jews Tony Kushner and Eric Roth, as well as Steven (“I-love-Castro-more-than-my-own-kids”) Spielberg.
If Craig was miscast for CASINO ROYALE, fault for that should go to the casting agent. If he gave a bad performance, then he deserves whatever criticisms come his way. Somehow I don’t think it’s quite fair to blame any actor for missteps and outright atrocities that are beyond his control.
