HUH? Guess Who Brenda Warner Wants Playing NFL Hubby in Bio-Flick

By Debbie Schlussel

I’m sure it’s just a publicity stunt since his story is soooooo over (and now he needs a lot of good PR for his new stint at FOX Sports and his gig on the next “Dancing With the Stars”), but check out who Brenda Warner wants to play her grocery-bagboy-turned-starting-NFL-quarterback hubby in a planned bio-flick on Kurt Warner:

Note the Uncanny Resemblance

He has met with producers interested in doing a movie on his life story. If Brenda had her way, Warner said, Denzel Washington would land the lead role.

“It would probably challenge Denzel in ways he’s never been challenged before,” Warner mused.

Washington is a great actor, but this is just dumb. What are they gonna call it–“Down Wit’ Dat, My Bruthah: The Kurt Warner Story, Exuberant Suntan Edition”? I’m always annoyed at the pretentiousness of people like Brenda Warner who want to show the world how “enlightened” and non-racist they are by insisting that someone Black should play someone White and vice versa in the most absurd of examples. That’s what’s going on here. And it’s phony. The kowtowing to liberals and political correctness stretches the bounds of the ludicrous.

See, she has it all wrong. And not because of race. Brenda Warner wants to play herself in the movie, and maybe she has a thing for Denzel Washington. But if she was really smart about this, she’d know that Denzel should play Brenda Warner. And if we’re really gonna keep it real on this, Whoopi Goldberg would be cast as Kurt Warner.

You know, just to be down with the struggle.  And Whoopi is struggling with a lot of things, least among them is race, if ya know what I mean (not that there’s anything wrong with that).

this is a dumb post it borders on racist

why get your nose out of joint over celebrity idiocy, celebrities are, after all, mostly idiots.

H: Sorry, but it’s not racist to point out the pretentiousness of people who say a Black dude should play a White dude, just to pretend that they, themselves are not racist, but “enlightened.” That’s what’s dumb here. DS

What a marvelous idea!!!!! I think it’s super! And wouldn’t it be great if they could get Michelle Obama to portray Brenda as his wife???????

You know if this was the other way around we would never hear the end of it . Remember the movie Maverick played by Will Smith. What a joke. But then again KING HUSSEIN OBAMA does play a good Joker. Maybe Denzel can get some make up tips from Obama.

CS: EXACTLY. You get it. DS

A White Dude can’t play a Black Man. One would be tossed out of the room for even making the proposal. Non-racism and color-blindness go only one way in this country. And yes, the proposal here was ridiculous.

I remember that one policewoman USA sued her superiors, because they didn’t wanted her to take part in infiltration of chinesee mafia. She wanted to infiltrate gangs personally, undercover.
She sued them and argued in court, that their superiors were racists. She won!
I wonder what happened next… how black woman could possibly think about getting into ranks of chinese mafia.

gr77 on August 17, 2010 at 1:23 pm

@gr77…If the particular PD you refer to was lucky, the chinee mafia saw thru her cover and took care of her. Problem solved.

If Denzel does play Warner, does that mean that Denzel needs to put on “White Face”? In the eyes of the race-baitors out there (BHO and his ilk), Black Face is racist, so will the black community organizers and leaders express their outrage over this? No they won’t.

Cali, I think you’re referring to “The Wild, Wild West”, not Maverick.

But speaking of Denzel… Last weekend I saw the movie “The Siege”, involving Islamic terrorist cells in New York. (Yes, they’re hard to find today – not PC – but this was made before 9/11.) Bruce Willis plays a general tasked with countering the threat. And in this cartoonish portrayal, the general resorts to martial law, mass roundups of Muslims (including the son of a Shiite FBI agent), torture, etc. Denzel leads the effort to “defend the Constitution”, protect the rights of our Muslim brethren, etc. etc. And in the end, he has the general arrested. Pure cliche.

I should also mention the CIA officer (played by Annette Benning in an ugly butch cut) intimately involved with a Palestinian mole. He eventually shows his true colors and kills her. Now *that* I can believe.

RiDC: Huh? “The Siege” was totally PC from beginning to end. The Muslim FBI agent is a very patriotic guy who is wrongfully discriminated against, when in real life the Muslim FBI agents are not patriotic, refuse to perform terrorism investigations and surveillance and tip off Muslim targets like Sami Al-Arian. And “The Siege” makes us look like the bad guys with marshal law and camps for Muslims, which NEVER has happened. And in the end, the Palestinian terrorist “cell” is just one guy, and we exaggerated its size, importance, and power. Yeah, right. Please don’t tell people this isn’t PC. It’s so PC, it’s as if it was, indeed, made post-9/11. DS

Kurt Warner has to be asking his wife about this one. “Uh, honey, do you wish you were married to Denzel Washington? Is that the deal?”

If it was the studios idea, I’d have thought it was the same agenda as the Ground Zero flag raising picture the U.S. Post office put out for its stamp. You know, putting a black fire fighter in there where there really wasn’t one just for P.C.

love the Seinfeld reference. i would hate being “Hoopi” Goldberg’s significant other. My family are Goldbergs, and she don’t look nutin” like that!

BK on August 17, 2010 at 3:21 pm

Poor Kurt – he is supposed to be a good guy and has the great underdog story. He must be a saint to put up with that nutso wife! She has been running her mouth forever…

Pauly D on August 17, 2010 at 4:07 pm

What an insult to our memory of Kurt, who without a doubt excited all of the fans and broadcasters of the NFL. How about Benjamin Franklin being portrayed as a chinaman to offset this betrayal.

Lars on August 17, 2010 at 8:06 pm

So Beyonce as Wonder Woman is a bad idea? yep that rumor has been floating around for some time now. There was one were they were considering a black actor to play the new rebooted spiderman, but they just settled on some british kid.

ender on August 17, 2010 at 8:45 pm

Years ago, when Kurt played with the Rams, The Onion had a headline which read, “Kurt Warner Cheered on by Wiry-Haired Man-Goblin,” accompanied by a pic of Brenda with extremely short hair cheering at a Rams game. It was hilarious.

I think the short hair may have been after a bout with cancer, though.

CaliforniaScreaming:

Actually, Hollywood casts white actors and actresses in roles intended for blacks, Hispanics and Asians all the time. Why do they do it? For money. And that is precisely why Will Smith was cast as Jim West. Without Smith’s involvement, the movie would have never been made, and it certainly would have never made $150 million seeing as how terrible it was.

“What are they going to call it ”Down Wit’ Dat, My Bruthah: The Kurt Warner Story, Exuberant Suntan Edition”?”

Excuse me, but Denzel Washington is not a “gangsta rapper” or a foul-mouthed comedian, or one of the other sorts that Dr. Laura insists MUST represent the entire black community. Denzel Washington does not speak in ebonics, nor does he represent the pathologies of the black underclass any more than you represent the pathologies of the white underclass.

You don’t refer to successful, educated respectable white people as “trailer trash” or “hillbillies”, so why on earth would you do so with regards to Washington?

As far as Brenda Warner goes, you have no idea what motivated her to make this idiotic statement. I will say that from what I know of Warner’s background, she has no interest or reason in trying to pass herself off as a progressive of any sort. In other words, Warner most certainly does not see herself as racist, so she has no reason to try to prove that she isn’t.

It is far more likely that Warner just happens to be one of the many white women that have this unusual fascination with Denzel Washington, just as many white men have the same with Halle Berry. The many white men who were oh-so-into Halle Berry (and Tyra Banks) a few years ago weren’t trying to prove that they weren’t racist. They just thought that Banks and Berry were pretty. Warner – who by the way are Republican activists who voted for Bush and McCain, not Obama – similarly probably thinks that Washington is talented and handsome. So Warner almost certainly has fewer racial hang-ups than you do. Which, by the way, isn’t saying a whole lot.

Gerald on August 18, 2010 at 10:10 am

It’s kind of difficult to understand what’s going on in Brenda’s mind proposing such a difficult casting problem. Also Debbie, your comments regarding Kurt appeared to be more of a “put down” than a celebration of a miraculous rise from rags to riches in a profession not one in a million athletes can achieve AND with a degree of class that probably not one in 30 million can achieve.

joesixpack31 on August 19, 2010 at 2:30 am

Forget race. Denzel is like 15 years older than Kurt. He’d really look silly playing a younger Kurt romancing Brenda. BTW, wasn’t the guy who played Obama on SNL a white dude? Nobody seemed to care about that, but Obama is half & half, so it really shouldn’t matter

Pat on August 21, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Kurt Warner has been a 3 sigma QB. Unfortunate he should have such an “air head” wife.
