New Clint Eastwood Movie Just As I Feared

By
I’m prohibited from posting my review of Clint Eastwood’s new movie, “Flags of Our Fathers,” today. But I’ve seen it.
The movie debuts Friday, and it’s almost exactly as . The movie is about “the story” behind the famous photo of the flag-raising on Mount Suribachi during the Battle at Iwo Jima in 1945.
As I in August, I’m glad he didn’t live to see this movie. Remember the photo from 9/11, below? It’s a good thing most of us don’t know the names of the men who raised it. Let’s hope one of their sons doesn’t go out and write a book about alcoholism, racism, and lying–trying to destroy the patriotic image of that historic flag pic, too.

World Trade Center, Post 9/11 Attack, 2001

Stay tuned.

Hollywood loves to tear down military heroes…unless the “heroes” are Communist scum like Che Guevera. I plan to miss this movie.

I am confused. The link to the previous comment didnt contain a prediction of the direction of the movie just a complaint that Eastwood was making a movie simultaneously to ‘FOF’ that showed the Japanese perspective. On that note maybe they can show the Jap perspective on the rape of Nanking and the Death March. Did I miss the prediction somehow? Is it a Lib movie or not?
BTW, the documentary “Hell in the Pacific” showing on the Military Channel is fantastic.
HERE’S WHAT I WROTE:
he is also making and simultaneously releasing a “pro-American” version (that isn’t so pro-American)of what happened at Iwo Jima, “Flags of Our Fathers.”
THE PART ABOUT “THAT ISN’T SO PRO-AMERICAN” IS THE KEY. THAT’S THE TACK OF THE MOVIE. STAY TUNED FOR MY REVIEW.

A while back I’d gotten wind that Clint wasn’t all that Conservative. Then a bit later Mystic river came out with two of Hollywood’s most unstable moonbats in lead rolls. Sean “Saddam” Penn can act-in the right(limited range)rolls. Tim Robbins though?
Now Clint makes a movie sympathetic to the Japanese. Bataan Death March anyone? And that’s barely the tip of the Japanese atrocity iceberg. Clint must be senile.

They are advertising this move like a photograph taken in 1945 won the war. It maybe a nice picture, but it did nothing for the people in the picture, and it didn’t win the war!

Clint Eastwood is not a conservative. At least he ceased being a cosnervative sometime in the late 1980’s early 1990’s when as the price he paid for acceptance in Holllywood as an “icon” he turned his back on Republican issues. Remember that movie “In The Line of Fire?” He starts gushing over the overrated JFK and says something to the US officials (I am paraphrasing) “What were you doing, running drugs for the Contras?” Eastwood works with the looinest of actors such as Sean Penn, Tim Roobins, etc. Another of his movies (I forgot the title) is an anti death penalty film, and who would ever have thought he would make a sappy “romatnic” piece of dreck with Meryl Streep called “The Bridges of Madison County.” Miss Schlussel is right – Clint is past his prime and past his time. I loved his work eons ago as Rowdy Yates on Rawhide and his Dirty Harry films but those days are long gone. As an aside if half of what Sondra Locke wrote is true – he is not such a nice guy either.
IN MY VIEW, EASTWOOD WAS NEVER CONSERVATIVE, UNLESS IT SUITED HIS NEEDS, LIKE WHEN THE WOMAN IN A WHEELCHAIR SUED HIM OVER HIS RESTAURANT UNDER THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT. HE RAN AS A REPUBLICAN FOR MAYOR OF CARMEL, BECAUSE A DEM COULDN’T WIN THE SEAT AT THE TIME. REMEMBER THE KID HE HAD OUT OF WEDLOCK, ETC? AND NOW, WITH “MILLION DOLLAR BABY” ETC., HE IS REPENTING TO HOLLYWOOD AND THE LEFT FOR PLAYING DIRTY HARRY.

They’re doing the same thing as they did with MDB and Mystic River. They’re making it look like a sentimental movie, when in reality it’ll probably be anything but. If they’re so confident in their politics why do they have to deceive audiences with their advertisements?

I agree with you. He gave up on Dirty Harry type of roles (eventhough it made him millions) and instead starting acting in dreck such as “White Hunter, Black Heart,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “Bird,” “Blood Work”, “Bridges of Madison County”, etc. in order to win the praise and accepatance from Hollywood. I see Clint as amoral politically being that he will shift with the winds. Why people view him as a great Director is beyond me. I think it was nutty Norman Mailer who was the first lefty to express admiration for Eastwood’s work. Also he has had more then one kid out of wedlock. A Democrat cannot get elected mayor in Carmel? I thought the Bay area was a verobten area for Republicans.
