Despite Hannity & Tea Party Aid, Anti-Semite Traficant Fails Again
It’s good to see Jim Traficant fail. Fail to get on the ballot.
After his prison term for bribery and corruption, convicted felon, eternal anti-Semite, and disgraced former Congressman James Traficant was largely ignored by the American public and mainstream media. That’s what he deserved.
Sadly, No Tea Party Anger Brewing Over Anti-Semite Traficant
Sadly, the mainstream “conservative” media–in particular, Sean Hannity–and the Tea Parties gave Traficant a repeated forum to vent his anti-Semitism and Israel-hatred to the masses. As you’ll recall, I reported that Hannity hosted Traficant on his radio show on the Jewish holy day of Yom Kippur, and his first question to him was about Israel. The Hannity-Traficant good-cop-bad-cop scheme allowed Traficant to spew his anti-Israel, anti-Semitic comments not just on Hannity’s radio show, but also on his FOX News cable TV show. FOX News’ plastic surgery incongruity, Greta Van Susteren, also gave Traficant a lengthy segment in which to spew his Jew-hatred uninterrupted. On both Hannity and Van Susteren forums, Traficant blamed the Jews and the pro-Israel lobby for his conviction on bribery (because I guess the JOOOOS forced him to compel his tax-paid Congressional staff to do work on his home and boat).
And then Traficant was an invited featured speaker at Tea Party events all over Ohio. Not one Tea Party leader denounced Traficant or openly called for Tea Partiers to stop embracing this Jew-hater. Not one. In fact, Tea Party activists were the ones who tried to get Traficant on the ballot for a Congressional run. And he was the scheduled feature speaker at a Portage, Ohio Tea Party, but dropped out after he failed to make the ballot.
Fortunately, they failed. Traficant failed to get enough signatures for his bid to return to Congress, after more than 1,000 of them were thrown out because the signers didn’t live in his Congressional district, weren’t registered to vote, etc. Traficant was 107 signatures short. So sad, too bad.
Jim Traficant failed. But he might have succeeded because phonies like Sean Hannity and the Tea Parties pumped this cretin up. Remember that the next time you hear about the “good work” of Hannity and the Tea Parties. Don’t believe the hype. The facts say otherwise.
They tried to make a Traficant into a Traficould. Thankfully, they failed. But the saddest thing here is that, had Traficant gotten on the ballot, he might have won the election, thanks to Tea Partiers.
And that’s the scariest part of this story. Glad we didn’t get to see the “what if.”
CNN got rid of Octavia Nasr and Hearst fired Helen Thomas. When will Sean Hannity, Greta Van Susteren, FOX News, and the Tea Parties finally have the decency get rid of Jim Traficant?
Sadly, probably never.
