Skip the NFL Network . . . Or Endure Bryant Gumbel’s Political Commentary During NFL Games
By
If you’re tired of the decreasingly relevant Bryant Gumbel’s racist, bigoted, intolerant comments, skip football on the NFL Network.
The uber-left Gumbel–who enjoys playing the angry Black man role in every way possible–will be calling games on the network. And even though he has yet to describe a first down, Gumbel is already spouting off (again!) and warning us that he’s going to be political on the games. And he’s whining that multi-millionaire NFL players aren’t paid enough.
According to USA Today “Sports on TV” columnist Michael Hiestand,
Gumbel, who will call his first NFL games ever on the NFL Network, suggested he won’t be overly deferential to his new employer. On the latest Real Sports show he hosts on HBO, the TV veteran advised incoming NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to remind team owners they’re “making obscene amounts of money” and to “make sure no one competent ever replaces” Gene Upshaw, head of the players union. Imagine what Gumbel, on games, will be able to do with three hours of airtime.
I can just see Gumbel calling a Bears Game, mentioning Defensive Tackle Israel Idonije‘s failure to block a running back from getting to the endzone, and using it as an opportunity for one of his tirades:
“See that’s why I hate Israel, the oppressive Zionist entity . . . .”
Well, we don’t need to imagine. Here are just a couple of Gumbel’s scintillating comments in recent history:
* In 2000, when the Family Research Council’s Robert Knight was on Gumbel’s “CBS Early Show” (yet another in the long list of shows he burned out of), after Knight defended the Boy Scouts’ for excluding gays, Gumbel exclaimed:
What a f–king idiot!
* As , in June, Gumbel used his show, HBO’s “Real Sports,” to attack Ann Coulter. What she has to do with sports, he didn’t seem to know, but he mentioned her anyway.
* On this year’s Winter Olympics, Gumbel said Whites are not good athletes:
Try not to laugh when someone says these are the world’s greatest athletes, despite a paucity of blacks that makes the Winter Games look like a GOP convention.
Well, it’s no secret that Gumbel hates White people . . . except the White woman with whom he cheated on his first wife and to whom he is now married.
I’ve had my own run-in with mucho-egoed Gumbel (at Detroit Metro Airport). He was taping a now-defunct show on airport profiling, and his all-Muslim (and hijab-encrusted) producers sought comments from travelers in the airport (I was flying to L.A.). When I said that when blonde people hijack planes and blow up buildings let’s profile then, Gumbel became incensed. When I suggested that he reveal the true nature of his guest, ACLU NSA Lawsuit plaintiff and lawyer for terrorists (who was not labeled as such), Gumbel treated me to the same impotent expletives he gave Knight.
For more on the kind of stuff you’re likely to hear from possibly the most arrogant man alive, while trying to enjoy a football telecast, check out this Guffawing Gumbel round-up from the Media Research Center.

I ain’t watchin’ no mutha-f’in’ Bryant Gumball on no NFL Network! I’m keepin’ it real, y’all!
