Horrid “World Trade Center”: Oliver Stone Makes Conspiracy Theorists, Islamist PR Artists Proud

By
Osama Bin Laden will have the same beef as I do about “World Trade Center.”
He doesn’t get credit for his work in the Oliver Stone movie, out Wednesday. In fact, it’s as if he and his 19 co-religionists never existed.
Stone said that he . But why bother? Besides being long and extremely boring, this version will make conspiracy theorists–and extremist Muslims–very happy. Stone went out of his way to make a movie that fits in with their bizarre, “Loose Change” version of the events on that day in September almost five years ago.

Oliver Stone (w/HAMAS’ Hassan Yussef): “World Trade Center” Whitewash

Who caused the attacks of 9/11? Who hijacked planes? Who flew them into the Towers? In “World Trade Center,” it’s hard to tell. Nicholas Cage’s cop rescued from beneath the ruins speaks of “the evil”; a Wisconsin cop twice mentions the “bastards”; And a marine speaks about the need to “avenge this.” But what is the evil? Who are the bastards? What needs to be “avenged”? Stone deliberately whitewashes the clear-cut answer to these questions–extremist Islam’s attack on Americans.
Stone is getting kudos from conservatives and liberals alike for “sticking to the facts” and “playing it straight.” Did they see the same movie as I saw? He doesn’t do those things at all. In fact, “World Trade Center” is more notable for what it leaves out than for its content.
There isn’t a single mention of Islam. Or Bin Laden. Or Mohammed Atta. Were there really 19 hijackers on the planes? No mention of them in this movie. Score yet another for extremist Islam in Hollywood. It’s totally whitewashed from “World Trade Center.”
Even voice-overs of Tom Brokaw and news clips from CNN have been carefully sanitized and ethnicly cleansed of all references to the perpetrators of 9/11.
It might as well be outer space creatures that perpetrated the events of 9/11. At least Steven Spielberg’s “”–many of whose scenes this movie repeated–shows you the aliens.
But this one is like “The Poseidon Adventure,” with concrete instead of water. And Nicholas Cage instead of Shelley Winters. Some unnatural force caused water to sink the ship and the World Trade Center towers to mysteriously implode upon themselves. Some unnatural force, 75% of which didn’t emanate from Saudi Arabia or get its marching orders from an Islamist billionaire in the mountains of Afghanistan.
Back to the news clips. In a set of scenes NOT taken from actual newsclips, but made to look like them, Stone shows people upset from all over the world. Noticeable are many scenes of Muslims in the Middle East and elsewhere, all sullen and upset that America was attacked.
Reality check: Did you see any scenes of Muslims upset that America was attacked on 9/11? No. Instead, we saw Muslims dancing in the streets all over the world, including in Palestinian-dominated Patterson, New Jersey. Even the normally “sensitive” MTV News got that story right. Why didn’t Oliver Stone?
We saw the Palestinian woman handing out candy to kids in celebration of thousands of Americans vaporized. So many shots of Palestinian ecstasy . . . until Yasser Arafat threatened the lives of AP photographers lest they stop showing the real sentiment of the Arab street. We saw celebrations from Kabul to Kuala Lumpur to Cairo to Amman to Tehran.

Palestinian Woman Cheering 9/11 Attacks Doesn’t Exist to Oliver Stone

At the end of the movie, Stone goes out of his way to tell us in a caption printed on the screen that people “from 87 countries” died on 9/11. But 86 of those countries weren’t the target of the terrorists on 9/11. America and Americans were. And most of those murdered were Americans and U.S. citizens. One of them was my cousin, Jon Schlissel.
Unlike Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin–the real-life survivors on whose lives this movie is based–Jon Schlissel and thousands more didn’t survive. But for a quick buck and fifteen minutes on “Entertainment Tonight,” Jimeno and McLoughlin and their wives sold them out. And with that, they squandered their status as heroes in exchange for politically correct cinematic charlatanry. Extremist Muslim fanatics took my cousin’s and 2,800 others’ lives. Not an unnamed, faceless force from beyond.

Jon Schlissel Z”L: My Cousin Who Died in the 9/11 Attacks

And then there are the dramatics of the movie. In “World Trade Center,” there is a lot of bitching and crying by the wives of Jimeno and McLoughlin–the two cops trapped beneath the rubble of the concourse between the Towers. Sure, there was anguish, crying, and other emotions felt by family members of all those who died and those whose fates were in question.
But the screaming and bitching in this one rang hollow and served no purpose. It was overwrought, melodramatic, and more suited to “Days of Our Lives” or Dr. Phil than a movie that’s supposed to be about how Islamic terrorists murdered nearly 3,000 Americans on 9/11.
Every time Maggie Gyllenhaal steps on screen as Jimeno’s wife, you don’t see a 9/11 family member. You see the woman who said of 9/11,

Because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way.

That the Jimenos and McLoughlins had no problem with the utterer of these words starring in a 9/11 movie, tells you everything you need to know about the “heroes” of this movie. They have no problem slapping the faces of those who died, while they were lucky enough to live and become starstruck.
“World Trade Center” adds nothing to the 9/11 discussion. It only takes away from it.
Sadly, years from now, those who don’t know the story will take this movie to be an accurate version of history. It is anything but.
Hopefully, saner minds will tell them to view “,” instead. Until then, my cousin is probably turning over in his grave.
****
See my about Oliver Stone’s plans to do another 9/11 movie from the conspiracy theorists’ and terrorists’ point of view–and his friendships with Yasser Arafat and HAMAS leaders.

Debbie, I have a new plan: Let’s move to Israel. We’ll build a shelter with a DSL and you can kvetch from there like you never left Detroit.
I AM PROUDLY AN AMERICAN.

showing a movie about 9/11 without mentioning Islam or at the very least Al Queda terrorists is like making a movie about the Holocaust without once showing a Nazi or mentioning Germany
if militiamen had attacked the WTC, then believe me there’d be no shortage of footage of them and movies about them, we still have serbs appearing as villains in US movies and tv shows when for goodness sake they never left yugoslavia or I believe even killed a single american
it may be a legitimate choice to make a movie in which we only see the aftermath of the terrorist attack, but considering that this movie is called World Trade Center, that it positions itself as a movie not about the story of two cops but as the story of what happened that day
as for 9/11 conspiracists or “9/11 Deniers’ who are in the same category as Holocaust deniers, those people are bottom feeding filth, the far left and far right that does the terrorist’s work for them and various nutjobs and kooks selling their books

Every Oliver Stone movie is a propaganda piece (maybe with the exception of the demented serial killer movie “Natural Born Killers”). This movie is a whitewash and an attempt to play down the fact that a bunch of Muzlum terrorists attacked America and murdered innocent people. And for him to portray the “Muzlum Street” as being sympathetic is an outright lie, and is deceptive. Since I haven’t seen the movie (and I won’t), I wonder if there’s any footage or mention of the Pentagon attack. My guess is NO, since the military is fair game in the eyes of LIBERALS.
Anyone seeing this movie and who’s not perceptive enough will walk out of the theater truly unaware of who is our enemy is and the scope of that enemy.

Thee_Bruno on August 8, 2006 at 12:47 pm

Uhhhh… As I recall, from that very day (9/11/01), we weren’t exactly certain who did this to us, but there was plenty of speculation as to who did it (Bin Laden was included as a suspect). But, in fairness to the events of that day, portrayed in this film, WE DID NOT KNOW FOR SURE that it was radical islam that was responsible for it. In the days following the attack, we were able to put the pieces together and start making plans for payback on these jihadi scum-bags.
HAVING BEEN A POLITICAL AND TERRORISM ANALYST FOR DETROIT’S TWO CBS TV STATIONS AND NEWSCASTS ON 9/11, I REMEMBER VERY WELL THAT WE SPOKE OF BIN LADEN BEING BEHIND IT (AND I HAVE THE VIDEO TO PROVE IT). THAT WAS KNOWN VERY, VERY QUICKLY. AND ASIDE FROM THAT, THERE’S NO EXCUSE FOR STONE TO PORTRAY SOMBER, SAD MUSLIMS IN THE MID-EAST, WHEN IN REALITY THE ARAB STREET WAS IN ECSTASY.

Could we expect anything less from Stone? I certainly didn’t. Debbie, you are clearly an expert on terrorism. Pay no attention to Shleppy, we need you here in the U.S. to help keep us informed as no one else can. I am also deeply sorry that the 9/11 attack struck your family so personally with the loss of your cousin Jon.
By investigating and reporting as you do, hopefully lives will be saved in the future. We all appreciate you very much. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — thank you. May G-d’s blessing be upon you and your family.

Eric on August 8, 2006 at 9:24 pm

Also, the scenes of Palestinian throngs overflowing the streets in Israel in sheer elation immediately after the attack is etched upon my mind. I remember Arafat frantically trying to stop them from cheering in front of TV cameras when he thought about the PR message it would send back to the U.S.

Eric on August 8, 2006 at 9:55 pm

Five years after 9/11, we are still in denial about Jihad and Islamofascism. Even the identity of the Saudis and the 20 terrorists is being erased from history. Hollywood used to make lots of movies about the Nazis during the World War II but in the past five years has managed to make only two documentaries about 9/11 – one of them being the Oliver Stone version where America was attacked out of nowhere!
The reason for this blindness is the Left hates America and the Islamofascists hate it too. A movie with Maggie Gyllenhaal in it is not one that I want to see. We have yet to realize there is a real adversary we’re fighting and thanks to the Left, many Americans think we aren’t even at war!
Talk about the ultimate real life conspiracy at work. If that was Stone and Hollywood’s intentions, they’ve outdone themselves.

NormanF on August 8, 2006 at 10:33 pm

Debbie, you do have the pictures to prove it. I’ve seen them but you do realize in the last five years, after 9/11 happened they stopped showing those scenes as well as all the scenes of the day it happened, particularly the planes crashing into the World Trade Center towers.
Its like they’ve taken care to make sure no one remembers. Cause I swear I couldn’t see any single one of the pictures in the mainstream media on any preceding 9/11 anniversary in the years after 2001. And the next one is just a month away. Will we really remember? I have haven’t forgotten but due to the politically correct whitewashing of history, I doubt much of the country will recall what happened on that day five years ago and its aftermath.

NormanF on August 8, 2006 at 10:39 pm

Everybody immediately knew who was responsible for
911…except,I guess this movie and Diane Sawyer, who I caught just after the second plane
crashed;she-and I guess Oliver Stone were still
speculating(directly related to Mel Gibson’s Jewish problem-no matter how drunk he was,the cop just didn’t “look Jewish” an’ Officer Mee jes’ don’ got the same ring as say,”Officer Weinstein.”).

jaywilton on August 9, 2006 at 8:33 am

NormanF is spot on with his comments regarding the erasing of 9/11 events from public memory. It is abhorrent to me that in this age of digital media the videos of the planes hitting the WTC, the resulting fireballs and the buildings crumbling into ash heap graves were immediately withdrawn from the MSM news programs. I have seen still shots of the “Arab Street” celebrating but have no real memory of the video footage on that day as it was killed faster than Reuters? pictures of smoke plumes over Beirut and Israeli F-16 “firing missiles.”
If I recall correctly, all the pundits and assorted “mental health experts” opined that the video of 9/11 was just too horrible for viewing. That our pain was too great and that we required time to heal. Male Bovine Dung! If that were true why then are our tender sensibilities not threatened by the daily dose of overstated (forged) Palestinian, Lebanese and Arab grief?
Can you say, Agenda? There, I knew you could.

LongTooth_TN on August 9, 2006 at 9:23 am

meh, it’s just another Oliver Stone film.
One thing, though, Debbie: at least with World Trade Center you’ve got references to events to verify whether or not they actually happened.
On United 93, you don’t; it’s a work of fiction, no more accurate or real than Titanic was.
Your pal,
Meat.

meat on August 9, 2006 at 10:38 am

Interesting that Shleppy and Yiddish Steel actually take Stone’s side on this one; they’re usually your stauch supporters, no? (whereas I go either way depending on the issue).
But I think this one was a good observation; except maybe for the “cheering in Arab quarters” forgery, I probably wouldn’t have noticed these other things.

hairymon on August 9, 2006 at 11:45 am

Also, never knew you had a cousin who was a 9/11 victim, my sympathies.
And as a NYer, I can’t “whitewash” it, I have seen the Trade Center before and now when I go by there, I know it’s not there…..

hairymon on August 9, 2006 at 11:46 am

Er, right, Oliver Stone’s movie, clearly that’s the problem America faces.
Because Americans are so ‘stupid’ we believe everything that happens in a film is the ‘truth’?
By your logic, people watching the Wizard of Oz today may believe that it really happened.
How about some constructive commentary towards resolving the complete chaos the world has become in the last six years and leave the movie reviews to the professionals.
Has there ever been even one column of yours that does something other than complain?
WHEN, IN REAL LIFE, THERE IS A TORNADO IN KANSAS THAT LEADS THE WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST TO WREAK HAVOC ON OUR WORLD, THEN I WILL CERTAINLY BE CONCERNED IF IT IS AN ACCURATE PORTRAYAL–ESPECIALLY WHEN, AS I WROTE IN THIS COLUMN (BUT YOU DID NOT COMPREHEND), THAT MOST COMMENTATORS ARE SAYING THE MOVIE IS “TRUE TO THE FACTS.” IT AIN’T. ALSO, GLAD TO KNOW YOU THINK THE EVENTS OF 9/11 WERE A FICTIONAL EVENT LIKE DOROTHY, THE MUNCHKINS, AND THE RUBY SLIPPERS. FOR THE REST OF US, WE’RE LIVING IN THE REAL WORLD. TIME FOR YOU TO QUIT SMOKING THE FUNNY STUFF.

Debbie,
You do tell it right. I don’t bother to see any Oliver Stone movies. It’s a wast of my time!!!

Codekeyguy on August 9, 2006 at 1:34 pm

Comments by kevind only show his ignorance, I’m afraid!
The difference in watching a movie like WTC is that THIS event was based on a real even, kevind. So, thereofore, one would expect that it would reflect a bit of reality! Do you have any sense?
Perhaps Debbie would write a column that doesn’t complain – IF those who are supposed to be responsible for leading us were not acting like a pack of idiots! Though Bush talks about the War on Terror – not enough people in the government – or the citizenry – take this threat seriously enough. As we SHOULD have learned on 9/11, we are not immune from terror attacks. And SINCE 9/11, the threat has only increased. But those in power – especially those on the Liberal side of the aisle – have not acted as if the threat is even real! As for threats, even Bush won’t close our borders – and anyone and everyone can – AND DOES – come into this country and disperse to do whatever they want to do. When you read Debbie’s columns about Dearborn, MI – you call it complaining? I see these columns as warnings – and you should be grateful that we have someone out there who is bothering to dig up some of the truth. The hide she is saving could be yours. Don’t be such an idiot! Take your head out of the sand and start realizing that this nation is in real trouble!

Litl Bits on August 9, 2006 at 6:31 pm

I guarantee you with 100% certitude that the two police officers buried under rubble, and the hundreds of other rescue workers scrambling to save them weren’t thinking about “Islamofascism” as they struggled to survive. Not a single person trapped in those buildings or running into them to save people knew who Mohammed Atta was. Hell, even the people being hijacked by Mohammed Atta didn’t know who Mohammed Atta was. This film looks like a very sober accounting of the story of these two heros and ONLY that, nothing more nothing less.
The Titanic sunk on April 14, 1912 and yet, in the movie Titanic, there was not a SINGLE mention about the start of the baseball season or the first game played at Fenway park just three days earlier. James Cameron must hate America’s pasttime and want nothing more than the wholesale destruction of the American way of life. Or, like world trade center, it’s just a movie. Only this one is being exploited by a disengenuous blogger with nothing to say and a handful of rabid readers who hate everything about about a movie they haven’t seen and have no intention of seeing, wearing their ignorance as a badge of honor.
UH, WHAT THE HECK DID BASEBALL HAVE TO DO WITH THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC? BIN LADEN HAD EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE DOWNING OF THE TOWERS. VERY, VERY, VERY POOR ANALOGY.
AND YOUR “POINT” (IF THERE IS ONE) IS NO EXCUSE FOR OLIVER STONE CLEANSING ALL NEWSCASTS HE PLAYED FROM ANY MENTION OF BIN LADEN AND THE HIJACKERS, WHICH WERE ALL OVER THE NEWS, THAT DAY. WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE FOR STONE’S PORTRAYAL OF MUSLIMS WORLDWIDE SAD OVER THE ATTACKS WHEN THEY WERE, IN REALITY, CELEBRATING THEM? HMMM . . . MAYBE IT WAS THE BASEBALL SEASON. GET A CLUE.

Debbie,
I am sorry to hear about your loss.
I didn’t know that it was an OLLIE STONE film! If I did, I would have known that it would be just another piece of America-hating propoganda. It seems that all he produces is *&%$#@.
I don’t know what Jaime R’s problems are, but I have read some of Kevind’s rants before. K is a lib, or at least someone who likes to stir up the readers without substantively commenting on on the issues. I guess that he thinks that he is “open-minded.” He is, only in the sense that he has holes in his head.

Loser on August 9, 2006 at 11:23 pm

I’m sorry you lost a loved one on 9/11.
I am neither liberal nor conservatve. I AM very curious and I know my history.
I read this post from time to time (it was written a couple of years ago) and it still scares me:
http://rigorousintuition.blogspot.com/2004/08/coincidence-theorists-guide-to-911.html
How can all of that be “explained away”?
People really need to look at history and remember that their lives are no more special than the lives of other people throughout time.
If you lost a loved one on 9/11/01, it is all the MORE reason you should get to the bottom of who is really behind this atrocity.
I urge you to read that post and click on the links.

ALSO, GLAD TO KNOW YOU THINK THE EVENTS OF 9/11 WERE A FICTIONAL EVENT LIKE DOROTHY,
This coming from the person who is actually worried about snakes on a plane. SNAKES ON A PLANE??? YOU BELIEVE THAT SNAKES ON A PLANE IS A SUBSTANTIAL ENOUGH THREAT TO BLOG ABOUT. I bet you hit post and wonder aloud if your readers are actually as stupid as you hope they are.
“THERE’S NO EXCUSE FOR STONE TO PORTRAY SOMBER, SAD MUSLIMS IN THE MID-EAST.”
Did he actually portray that or are you just lying because you know your readers will not see the film? My guess is you’re lying. But I’ll see the film to find out.
