Prez Bartlett Says Something Smart . . . For a Change

By
Martin Sheen, who plays President Josiah Bartlett on “The West Wing,” finally said something smart (which sometimes happens when your show is finally cancelled and reality sets in).
He told the New York Times that he gave this answer to Democrats when they asked him to run for the U.S. Senate from Ohio:

I’m just not qualified. You’re mistaking celebrity for credibility.

Amen. Now, if only Sheen could look in the mirror and take his own advice when it comes to his various far-left political preaching and protesting. . . .

I love the West Wing. I can’t get enough of it.
But let’s face it — the television show is not an accurate representation of what really goes on in Washington. Politicians are just not that altruistic.
And neither are the actors like Martin and Charlie Sheen altruistic who sound off on things they obviously know little about.
So it is a pleasant surprise that Josiah Bartlett (aka Martin Sheen) has turned down an opportunity to run for office, recognizing in the process his own limitations.
Now Martin, if you would just muzzle your son…

Good G-d! Aren’t there laws against this sort of thing?
Why do you raise the specter of Janet “Flame Thrower” Reno so close to the anniversary of the Elian Gonzalez horror show? Didn’t he and his family suffer enough?
