Israel’s Ha’Aretz Cites Schlussel on Fred Thompson; UPDATE: Thompson Campaign Attacks Messenger: Schlussel

By
Major Israeli newspaper Ha’Aretz cites as his campaign manager. It’s quoted in Ha’Aretz reporter/columnist Shmuel Rosner’s column. He’s Ha’Aretz’s chief U.S. correspondent. Would have been nice if he mentioned my name, but he quoted and linked to it, which is better than I can say for some (ie., ):

Fred Thompson, Israel and the Spencer Abraham factor

Spencer Abraham:

Former Bush Energy Secretary, Current Pan-Islamist & Fred Thompson Campaign Manager

The anger against Abraham’s appointment by Thompson is starting to build in conservative circles, some of it relates to Israel.
“I don’t know anybody who isn’t at least a little bit worried about this”, a Thompson supporter told the NY Post. And those worried are talking about a wide variety of reasons. Not just Israel and Israel related issues, but also because of his stance of issues like borders and terror.
:

Don’t believe Thompson’s claim that he understands the Islamist jihadist threat to America. His announcement, yesterday, of his choice of Spencer Abraham as campaign manager, told us everything we need to know. Although Abraham, of Lebanese descent, is a Christian, he is a career water carrier for Islamists of the most extremist stripe and made that the cornerstone of his failed, one-term Senate career and equally lousy tenure as Energy Secretary.

In case it sounds familiar, that’s the quote from my column.
**** UPDATE: Meanwhile, unable to refute the facts I reported on the disturbing pan-jihadist career of Spencer Abraham, the Fred Thompson campaign is doing what most sleazy campaigns without the facts on their side and desperate to quell a message do: Attack the messenger (and lie in the process). In this case, that’s me.
They know the choice of Abraham is a big tell on Fred Thompson’s true agenda or his lack of one and abundance of incompetence. So they are attacking me, since they can’t refute a single fact I’ve reported about Abraham. It’s interesting that the Thompson campaign’s attacks on me sound exactly like those coming from the Nazi-funded, far-left Media Matters for America, including defending a pan-jihadist journalist who openly hates America and compared Muslim terrorists to Italian Catholics. Way to energize the conservative base, Fred . . . against you.
Also, the Thompson campaign is now starting backtrack and to say that Abraham won’t be the campaign manager, after saying he would be. So what? Either way, we now know that Spencer Abraham is a trusted advisor to Fred Thompson, kind of like James Baker is to Bush.
Do you want more of James Baker’s influence on the White House . . . only worse? James Baker never gave millions in our tax money to Hezbollah.

All I can say is, thanks for the heads-up, Debbie. I had desperately and mindlessly jumped on the Fred bandwagon in hopes that he would be a decent candidate. That bandwagon has screeched to a stop. Lazy Fred is not fit to be president.
I really hate to make mean spirited comments but–that picture you have posted of Fred makes him look like a debauched Kelsey Grammer. Yeeecchh.

Others (Michelle Malkin, Little Green Footballs) have mentioned the Spencer Abraham story and have linked to you. You really nailed it and deserve credit.
Instead of “Guess the Religion,” how about “Guess the Punishment”? A person who puts a book in a toilet is subject to two felonies and is prosecuted immediately. A person who sends an e-mail stating “Kill all Kikes,” a photo of a beheaded Daniel Pearl, with a message “I’m coming for you,” four years later in a misdemeanor sentencing gets…
Sentencing is tomorrow, but there is no justice. Your story deserves to be picked up by the mainstream media.

Back to the drawing board to find a competent GOP candidate to run against Hillary Cankles and Barack Obummer. I’m of the thinking that this country will have to suffer through another 4-8 years of liberal pandering and socialism because the public will, once again, let anxiety and irrational behavior override common sense.
Maybe it’s time to give the running of this country back to the people and let politicians dry up and blow away…

“James Baker never gave millions in our tax money to Hezbollah.”
I’m not exactly certain about that, Deb. I would not have used the word “never” on a guy who was part and parcel of an Administration known for the Iran-Contra scandal, the BCCI scandal and the BNL blunder etc.

Like we need worse over the next four years… Rudy Guiliani has assembled an impressive foreign policy team, including Martin Kramer who is no pan-Islamist apologist. Personnel IS policy. That can’t be said often enough.

Why Fred picked Spence, a man who lost to Stabenow, to be campaign manager makes no sense unless he is the fig leaf to cover the fact that Mrs. Fred is the real force in the campaign.
This does show that Mr. Fred isn’t up to being Mr. Pres. I wonder if Jeri is pushing him on this? She seems the bigger political animal of the two. I think he prefers acting.

Thanks Debbie – great job! Where is Fred’s judgement?
“Barack Obummer” thanks 1SHOT – LOL!

I agree, attacking the messenger when you are unable to refute the facts is the strategy of Democrats and losers.

If you want a true conservative, Alan Keyes would have been the man if he were running. The next best, in my opinion, who tells the truth without fear of anything is Tancredo.
Unfortunately, nobody is prepared to accept what he says. Guliani is the best DEMOCRAT for the White House.
