Warms My Heart: Americans (& Media) Finally Getting it on Obama; But Sad US Has to Sink This Far to “Get It”

By Debbie Schlussel

Check out the video below from last night’s NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. It’s surprising that they didn’t spin it much. America is finally seeing the light on Barack Obama, his baloney healthcare, etc.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

I’m very sad that America has to be in such horrible economic straits for Americans to get it that Obama ain’t the answer, that government cash giveaways don’t work, that socialist nationalized healthcare will be a failure and a boondoggle.  But if that’s what it takes, so be it.  Better late than never.  These polls warm the cockles of my heart.  Unfortunately, they won’t stop the far-left Congress and the man who signs the bills and is living it up at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. That’s the depressing part. As Americans, we can get through this bad time, if we elect leaders who take the right steps to move us out of this hole, rather than dig us deeper into. For at least the next year, we still have the wrong people. And for at least the next 3, we still have the wrong people at the top.

Sadly, there isn’t a good choice at the top to oppose him. An “Entertainment Tonight” subject and airhead, empty red skirtsuit from Alaska ain’t gonna be the one to do it. And if she is, we’ll have many, many dark years ahead of us in America.

Does anyone want to start a pool on how soon we have a sequel to Carter’s malaise speech (I am old enough to have seen it live.)?

On the other hand these poll numbers might make things worse. Normally a first term President does what he can to get a second term. I believe that is why Obama agreed to the troop increase in Afghanistan and also why he has not pushed hard for the far left version of health care “reform”. My fear is that if Obama believes all is lost anyway he will go back to his base and push hard for a far left agenda.

I just checked out when Clowngress is in session, and guess what? They are not meeting today (Thursday 12/17) or tomorrow (Friday 12/17). However, the House reconvenes at 6pm on Saturday night. What are the libs up to this time? How much more damage to this country are these socialists going to do over this weekend? They are f***ing cowards for hiding their treasonous actions when no one is watching. Well, at least I hope someone is watching. My heart will never be warmed until the madness ends.

Why can’t these idiots just take an entire year off? We would end up in a better position than with these weasels at the helm.

I don’t agree with you about Palin, Debbie. She has a lot of common sense which is something Obama lacks. And she has been right on lately. However, if you are looking for more “experience”, I have heard good things about Mitchel Daniels, the GOP governor of Indiana. I think people are fed up with Obama’s “charm”.

JJ: Mitch Daniels has been pandering to Muslims to get in touch with his Arabic roots. I’d take Palin over him any day of the week. DS

JulieJ on December 17, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Definitly agree with you on the red suitskit from Alaska. She is a big mistake…if that the direction conservative are heading. I hate the preception she portrays conservative as gun toting cowboys/cowgirls to love guting deer and eating the heart for their conservative values. Please.

Brett on December 18, 2009 at 12:07 pm

Brett, you sound like a lib!

JulieJ on December 18, 2009 at 3:32 pm

Eye-opening numbers. The Socialist agenda is going to sink the USA unless there is a sharp reversal of opinion (via voting). When you have people like Senator Bernie Sanders spouting that private insurance companies “are no longer needed” and we need government-run health care, people best wake up!

Scott on December 17, 2009 at 12:44 pm

I enjoy your site, respect your opinions and thoughts but your venom toward Palin is over the top. Save it fot the muslims who deserve it. She may not be the end all to be all but she is certainly not in the “dirt” pile with Obama and the Chicago gang.

M: Since when is truth, “venom”? RIF–Reading Is Fundamental. No-one said she was in the dirtpile with Obama. Since when is that the benchmark for who should be President? The woman is a complete dummy and empty red suit. I love how she said in her book that “Kid Rock has common sense ideas.” Like what? Prostitution, drug dealing, oral sex videos? She’s just a selfish airhead who is dazzled by celebrities and gets her news from Entertainment Tonight. If this is your candidate, America will continue to fall deeper. DS

mdreb on December 17, 2009 at 12:55 pm

Debbie, I am a bit late but thanks for the response. Little harsh with the RIF, ouch! She is not my candidate at all I just believe there is a target rich environment on the
    liberal left, let’s trash them!!

M: I am not a partisan, I despise partisans, and this site is not for partisans. I trash all those who deserve to be trashed, regardless of party and phony political persuasion. If you are looking for those who only criticize liberals, try the GOP websites . . . or read Michelle Fraudkin. DS

mdreb on December 21, 2009 at 3:11 pm

So it looks as though Congress will pass Healthcare over the weekend in the middle of the night like they do all their thievery. I’m still worried about the next election whether it will be legal or not, remember how Al Franken stole his election? Acorn has been outed but no ones been arrested for election fraud so where’s the incentive to not try it again next year. We’re not out of the woods yet.

seahawker on December 17, 2009 at 1:16 pm

We see his poll numbers plummeting and America’s disdain rising but even with all that discontent, Congress is still acting in the interest of its own socialist/communist agenda. They must know that they will lose the majority come 2010, or they are counting on the SEIU, Black Panthers, Acorn, and the other Communist organizations to rig the elections once again. Which I am betting on will happen. Still the major news organizations are turning a blind eye to the massive corruption taking place and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

The troop surge in Afghanistan is a joke, and a very sad one. It will take approximately 9-10 months for the troops and equipment to reach Afghanistan and then according to O, they will start coming home 8 months after that-So what is the point? Also the rules of engagement are exactly the same rules we had in Vietnam. No night maneuvers, No firing on terrorists unless they fire first. No firing at terrorists if they are around civilians. Basically, our men and women are there for target practice, and no outrage from the Liberals about any of this….Where is Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, etc, etc, etc….The silence tells me that as long as it is our men and women being killed then there is nothing to protest.

Senator Bernie Sanders spouting that private insurance companies “are no longer needed” is a very good point. The man is a Socialist. The Health care bill is designed to have government control, no more insurance companies. Health insurance is just the first on the chopping block, when they succeed in taking them down, then the next in line will be House insurance, car insurance, and Life insurance. Insurance companies represent a large intake of cash and the government would like to have all that cash for itself. We are moving beyond a Socialist agenda slipping right into a Communist one. Everyone will be equal living in squalor, and starving to death just like they had in Russia, except the few elitists who will control everything.

Considering the recent “victor” in the mayor’s race in Atlanta just squeezed in on falsified ballots (filled in by poll workers), I don’t see much hope for honest elections anymore. I would venture to guess that is one of the tenets of ACORN – get the votes any way you can. We have probably reached the point in our nation where we need to provide police protection for honest poll workers, just like a third world country.

There is SO MUCH CORRUPTION HERE WITH THE ADMINISTRATION THAT IS IN, NATIONALLY AND DOMESTIC! It is difficult to stay afloat! My fellow Americans who stand for OUR FREEDOMS, stay the course and do your best. This president is trying, but he needs to REALIZE what the United States is about! ‘We the People’…must support our Constitutional beliefs.
“NO” to socialistic ideas!!! People, now you know … VOTE in 2010 for the CORRECT candidates who wish to keep the United States afloat!
In God We Trust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gigi on December 17, 2009 at 1:45 pm

Which leaves me no other choice to pick to be A REAL President than THIS MAN…

RON PAUL!

And keep an eye out for Rand Paul his son running for the Kentucky Senate.

Bob Porrazzo on December 17, 2009 at 2:17 pm

And here’s what he said to Fox Business about Time’s so-called Person of the Year, Buffoonish Ben Bernanke, head of the POWER ABUSING, DOLLAR KILLING FEDERAL RESERVE!

Bob Porrazzo on December 17, 2009 at 2:20 pm

I guess the only solace is come 2010 when we can start voting these people out. I just hope there’s enough of our country left to do it.

It would also depend on people “getting it” that the Democrats in Congress are thumbing their noses at us on a daily basis. The problem is, there are still too many are smiling and nodding their heads in agreement, because Obama must know best.

As to the posting above, isn’t it amazing that the Ben Bernanke was chosen as Man of the Year? This is the same guy who is in charge of the financial state of this country. Awhile back he got scammed over the internet. Scary that these people who lack basic wisdom are in power over us. But that’s what the voters wanted, inexperienced foolish incompetent wimps. And that’s includes the “President” on down.

John on December 17, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Everyone here has apparently whitewashed the preceding 8 years of misrule by Bush and the Republicans. Very convenient. It’s pretty hard to watch you jokers rush to the fainting couch now after cheering the country’s destruction from 2001-2008. That memory hole you’re chucking stuff into must be mighty deep.

Bobo Teh Clown on December 17, 2009 at 4:19 pm

Have comfort, is there any doubt in your mind he will be re-elected? He’s been un-masked now, I think the Dems aren’t going to latch on to him next time. Problem was Bush sounded like an idiot every time he opened his mouth,Was refreshing to have our leader speak coherently and clear.
Over time the true agenda of obama has crept out, and it ain’t purdy.

Only 3 yrs. to go. on December 17, 2009 at 4:28 pm

There was a time when Obama and Co. worried me, but now I welcome their actions. I really don’t think that anything less than the US imploding (financially, culturally, racially, internationally and so forth) will end this madness. Then, maybe saner minds can make something better of the situation. Who knows what is in store? Perhaps cessation of some states, perhaps racial/ethnic balkanization, perhaps general anarchy? Whatever the case, I have no confidence in Republicans coming up with political solutions, so who or what remains? Very interesting times we are living in.

The announcer said, “The pessimism is back.”

Eh, how about, “Rational thinking is back.”

Hector on December 17, 2009 at 5:39 pm

we are screwed and have been for a while. we need to take obama and get hope and change BS out of our systems! nothing happens without hard work, not hope-change. dark times are ahead, tis why talk show hsots are pushing peole to buy “food insurance”!

healthcare WILL pass this christmas, merry christmas losers who HAD TO vote him in!

lindapolver on December 17, 2009 at 6:35 pm

Bush had his faults, but he didn’t appoint a homosexual advocate for teen boy sex, now in charge of school safety. Bush didn’t appoint tax cheats and “Czars” (A Soviet system by the way. “Oh no, we’re not going socialist.”) Bush didn’t make up policies designed to destroy America.

I had a job when Bush was President. With Obama, all I have is “change.” And with his continued take down of America with 12 trillion dollars in debt (It’s Bush’s fault!) We will cease to be a country, much less free. Obama should be arrested for fraud and treason, or at least impeached.

John on December 17, 2009 at 8:06 pm

True story: Iwas out this past weekend ,ran into a friend that has been out of work for over a year now,not job hunting either.
he always voted republican, he said as long as he has become entitled he will vote for Obama, since extension upon extension keeps coming.he was serious!

Only 3 yrs. to go. on December 17, 2009 at 9:24 pm

Obama numbers are falling to the point that they will not get back. Once he loses the Hillary voters he will be done. They still have that bad taste in their mouth. Obama was manufactured and the mask is starting to come off.

As for Palin, that will be the Dems best hope. A weak Obama is vulnerable to a strong candidate.

CaliforniaScreaming on December 17, 2009 at 11:23 pm

Ron Paul?!!! Never trust a guy with two first names.

Obumf**k and his politburo are running this country into the dirt. It’s a sad day when when one can’t find employment in the greatest country in the world and has to take his/her talents somewhere else.

There’s was a news article indicating the civilian contactor presence in Afghanistan was going to be substantially higher than that of the military. What does that tell you?

Damn shame!

icenomore on December 18, 2009 at 2:50 am

Sorry the women is no airhead. The real airhead is in the White House!

Delta George on December 18, 2009 at 3:20 am

Whaddya expect..you elected a black. A black who represents the race that has an avg IQ of 65. From the race that commits 75% of ALL VIOLENT CRIME. (Not my figures..DOJ) They arent capable. Race does matter. You have been lied to by Mead and Boas for years. Dissent wont be tolerated. “Hit the cracker in the head” Who is the buffoon on any commercial, carrying a purse, breaking into a house, asking dumb questions about cereal, while the all knowing white woman or negro with the everpresent clipboard sagely snickers. Im gonna start lying on my job applications. I wanna be black too. I want preferential treatment. Being a Viet vet never did anything for me. Or better yet Ill say Im a homo.

Today (Friday, Dec. 18), CNN reported on the number of Americans who’ve had their electricity and power shut off (due to non-payment). An increasing number of Americans (I believe the CNN report said it was a record number) require assistance from the Federal government in order to pay their power/electricity bills. Then, CNN segued to Obama at Copenhagen. Yes, there was Obama promising X billions to be funneled from industrialized states to the Third World (which, of course, includes China, the largest polluter on the planet). So, here we have the leader of the Western World (already how many billions in debt to Communist China?) promising to hand over even more gazillions of dollars to the biggest polluter on the planet, while Americans freeze! The Chinese must be really laughing it up. (As if they’re concerned about “climate change” — the only “change” they’re concerned about is the kind that’s put into pockets.)

J.S. on December 18, 2009 at 12:24 pm

I don’t know wheather to laugh or cry.
It had to come this far for people to start waking up? When I hear on the news that oBummer is below a 50% approval rating I have to ask myself how the hell he ever got above 50% in the first place!

And “ONLY 50% of the population now beleives in manmade global warming” according to the latest poll? That’s 50% too much as far as I’m concerned. It’s nature people, it’s been happening since the world began.

Did anybody stay awake in their History, Geography and Science classes?

Wake up America!
……………WAKE THE HELL UP!!!
