Pigs ‘R’ Flyin’: Lib Obama Judge is Racist Villain in TV Drama

By Debbie Schlussel

For all of the hype over NBC’s “Law & Order” and its consistently overt attacks on (and lies about) conservatives, sometimes there is turnabout.  And when it happens, as the saying goes, turnabout is fair play.

CBS’ “The Good Wife” Says Yes, Liberals (& Obama Buds) Are Racists, Too

I thought I was dreaming, last night, when I watched the latest episode of the CBS legal drama, “The Good Wife,” and the villain was a racist, crooked, LIBERAL judge.  It’s one of the only shows I watch anymore on prime time TV.   Ostensibly, the show is about a scorned wife, Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), whose politico husband (Chris Noth) is caught in an Eliot Spitzer-style affair and scandal and sent to jail, and how she must pick up the pieces and go back to work as a lawyer.  But, really, it harkens back to one of those serious legal dramas from the ’80s a la “L.A. Law.”  It’s not sophisticated and doesn’t pretend to be.  But it’s CBS’ top-rated new show.

On last night’s episode, a liberal judge (played by Tony Goldwyn, grandson of Samuel Goldwyn of MGM fame) who is friends with Barack Obama, discriminates against Black juvenile offenders.  He sends them to long prison sentences, sparing the White kids juvie time and sentencing them to probation.  And in a “ripped from the headlines” moment, he is also sending all the kids to a privately run detention facility and taking kickbacks to pay off his gambling habit.  It’s a riff off the case in Pennsylvania, in which a liberal judge was doing the same (taking the kickbacks from the juvie center, but not a racist–he sent all the kids to hard time for petty, trivial crimes, regardless of their race).

But the dialogue shocked me, as I never dreamed I’d hear lines like these on a major broadcast TV network drama:

White Lawyer at Law Firm:  No way, the Judge would never discriminate.  He’s liberal all the way.  Million Man March and everything.

Black Lawyer at Firm (incredulous at assumption):  So, you’re saying a liberal can’t be a racist?!  Sorry, man.  The facts are clear.  He discriminates.

Then, there was this exchange between Julianna Margulies, the main character, who is representing a Black juvenile sent to prison for nine months for throwing a book at a bully.

Racist Liberal Judge:  You’re accusing me of being a racist?  Look at these pictures.  Who are these? [Motions to pictures of himself with Barack Obama and Illinois U.S. Senator Roland Burris.] Barack Obama, Senator Burris.  They’re African Americans.  And you’re accusing me of being racist?!

And, in fact, he is a racist. A liberal racist, who is tight with Obama and Burris.

And on top of that, Democratic Party judges pressure a partner at the firm to get Margulies to drop the racism claims. And when she doesn’t, she loses her chance at the Dem party nomination for a judgeship. Was pleasantly shocked to see that, too.

It’s refreshing and rare to see this kind of stuff on TV, since Hollywood prefers the easy villain–the conservative ogre as racist.

Rare, but ever so special and delicious when it happens. For the sake of the writers of this script, I hope they used the name, “Alan Smithee” . . . or they may never work in Hollywood again.

I’ve seen the show. Debbie, you should be a TV critic, too. Most shows aren’t watchable but the good ones last seasons. In the old days, few serious actors did TV work. Now most of them have done at least one TV series. And “sleeper” shows go on to find a second life in DVD syndication.

I should have caught that one – will see try to see it in a re-run. Its indeed a rare break in the pattern of painting conservatives as the stock villain. We can sometimes be surprised by the entertainment industry.

I would be more impressed if the show actually showed that Whites are not the only racists and acknowledge that Blacks have numerous racists within their ranks. In the end, the fact remains that the white was the racist. All this really shows is that as far as Hollywood is concerned, all whites are racists regardless of party affilliation so I would not be too happy with this portrayal. It is sad that we have lowered the bar to be satisfied with all whites are racists not just the Republicans?

Oh yeah, nice to know that now Christians are suicide bombers on both NCIS and Law & Order:

I love NCIS, but after these two episodes am not so sure they can count on me as a fan. It was worse then Law and Order, which I used to like(gone are those days.

NormanF: Watch “the Good Wife” online at CBS.com — that is the only way I watch it (don’t want to be a slave to a time slot or spend money/time on TIVO)

eloopd, is that the liberal way of saying some people have values antithetical to ours? The fact NCIS had to use a Christian character shows how afraid the Left is of offending Muslims. We mustn’t call attention to their barbarian behavior. Oh and the Christians are not going to behead people for the crime of being grotesquely libeled. With the Muslims, its just the truth about who they are.

L&O SVU did its version of the very same story a few months ago. The Good Wife has its own agenda: men are all slime or stupid or evil and women are all smart and honest and saintly.

Believe me a show on NBC would never show a liberal in a negative light.

Yep, I saw it and was pleasantly surprised! I like this series and hope it doesn’t fall into a PC trap in the future.

Well what else do we expect? Most of the TV and movie industry is controlled by Jews who hate White Americans, you know, the same White Americans who gave their lives to free them from the concentration camps. The Jews are the engineers behind the collapse of America and its descent into a third world hell-hole. That’s what we get for aiding and abetting the greatest enemy of humanity.

I watched the episode and my jaw hit the floor when I saw how the Democrats in Chicago were portrayed in such a horrible fashion. Honestly this is the FIRST time I can remember seeing something like this at the Movies or on TV since Hollywood strayed from original Liberal thinking to the far left nonsense that permeates all of TINSLETOWN.

This plot line is regurgitated from an old L&O episode, which is no surprise. The writing on prime time television is pathetic and borrowed. The judge on the previous show was getting kickbacks for sending kids to a juvenile detention center for small offenses.

J: No, actually, as I noted in this column, its a plotline taken from the headlines (this actually happened with a Pennsylvania judge), which is where L&O got it. But L&O didn’t portray the guy as a liberal and Obama supporter. DS

And, of course, the whole crooked judge sending kids away for hard time for kickbacks was originally from a Mamie van Doren ’50s film, “Untamed Youth” (parodied brilliantly by MST3K).

Generally, however, any movie or show which stars crooked, amoral attorneys and judges is usually based on reality in some fashion.

It seems the entertainment industry is stepping it up lately with their anti-white, anti-Christian (or whatever majority) campaign. Unfortunately, the real message is lost on the clueless liberals who feel only more white-guilt and a need to further appease others at their own expense. As for me, these shows only confirm my beliefs.

For those who need to be hit in the head with a 2×4 to get a point here is the model for shows like Law & Order, Cold Case, etc.

1) a crime is committed
2) a minority is wrongly blamed
3) the true culprit (white and/or Christian) is apprehended

I think this episode was even more important and complex that it seems at first pass. Yes, the Democratic machine in Chicago took some hits, but there were also more subtle points being made. For example, at the first inclination that the judge was passing judgement based on something other than the merits of the cases before him, a couple of voices of reason at Alicia’s law firm said, “Wait, we need to have more evidence, we need to understand if there’s another motive at play.” They then partake on a statistical analysis that examined much more than the skin color of the juvenile defendents. The firm built a reasoned position based on statistical facts rather than an emotional, knee-jerk reaction. A breath of fresh air from the “I feel, therefore I’m right” position of so many today. Also revealed was the callousness of the intellectual elite. The judges of Chicago – black and white – closed ranks against Alicia’s law firm because someone had dared to criticize one of their number. Didn’t matter that real, living, breathing children were being sent to juvenile detention. What mattered was that power was questioned and that could not be tolerated.

I, too, have been so pleasantly surprised by “The Good Wife.” Interesting characters, high production values, and good story telling without the bland predictability so often on display from Hollywood.

I don’t know about this conclusion. I saw the episode too. But, it seemed they detoured from the “racist” idea by saying, it really wasn’t racism after all, more like bribes, greed, and scratching each others backs.

I didn’t come away with that as the conclusion, but, yes, they did skirt around the idea, tepidly.

When the Dem. “Chief Justice” (just what she was chief of I’m not sure) said, “It is just one kid,” that was the most revealing moment of all.

ScottR on December 17, 2009 at 9:40 pm

The episode being discussed here was a re-run. The actual final new episode of the season was the last episode I will ever watch, because all the sophisticated, intelligent, beautiful women went bad in the same episode (took the plunge toward infidelity and lesbianism). If Alicia can’t stand her husband, why does it necessarily follow that she has to hook up with the lawyer guy immediately?
