The “Heroes” of Conservative Desperation; Plus HILARIOUS Video: Hannity & Prejean

By Debbie Schlussel

The current crop of conservative “heroes” shows conservatives’ level of desperation in the Obama era.  And it’s pathetic.

Carrie Prejean, Lou Dobbs, Linda McMahon:

If These Are Conservative “Heroes,” There Is No Conservatism

Instead of taking advantage of the Obama morass and elevating great conservative thinkers who espouse family values AND conservative free market values, the lumpenconservatariat has latched onto bimbos, empty vessels, and even liberals, who espouse a single value or two that conservatives like.  There’s a difference between coalitions and mergers.  And it’s dangerous that so many on the right can’t see the difference to save their lives . . . or save their movement.

I’m not talking about real conservatives candidates like Doug Hoffman who nearly won a Congressional seat by espousing real conservatism.  I like him, and we need more like him.  It’s too bad he lost, and maybe things will turn out differently in the next election for the New York 23 Congressional seat.  I’m talking about people like sex tape and nude photo star Carrie Prejean, liberal Lou Dobbs, and TV garbage magnatrix Linda McMahon.

Hilarious: Most Honest Sean Vannity Interview Ever . . .

Carrie Prejean’s Smug Hypocrisy on Larry King Live . . .

Let’s start with Dobbs, since so many conservatives are claiming he left CNN abruptly, last night, because the liberal cable network  wouldn’t let him be a “conservative.”  Please get something clear.  Lou Dobbs is NO conservative.  I know from personal experience, when we both appeared on the–thankfully!–now-defunct Montel show, and Dobbs viciously attacked me because I didn’t support nationalized healthcare.  And in his resignation, last night, he pimped “climate change.”  That’s conservative?  PUH-LEEZE.

Dobbs was good on two issues and two issues only:  He was on the right side of the illegal alien debate and the Dubai Ports deal.  But other than that, he remained what he always was and what gave him his start at CNN:  uber-liberal Ted Turner’s close friend and advisor.  And even on the illegal alien issue, he later had utter failure, former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) chief, Julie Myers, on his show as an “expert,” gushing over her like a slobbering dog.  If you make Dobbs your hero, you haven’t been paying attention.

The conventional wisdom guessing game has Dobbs going to FOX News or FOX Business Channel.  I’m skeptical that will happen–and because he’s a fake, I hope it doesn’t.  I doubt CNN would let him out of his contract to go help the competition, which is already trouncing the network.  That’s not CNN’s way, even if it is FOX News’ way to poach lesser talents like Greta Van Susteren and transform them into empresses with no clothing.

Then, there is Linda McMahon.  Right now, she is the “conservative” candidate whom tea party attendees and others have chosen as their Connecticut candidate against GOP mainstream-backed Senate candidate, former Rep. Rob Simmons.  That’s a very sad development.  Mrs. McMahon made her fortune as the chief executive officer of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).  In case you’ve lived on another planet–and tea party conservatives have not–WWE for the last two decades has pimped America’s kids on trash and vile open sexuality.  But, hey, she’s wealthy and is now suddenly a “conservative.”  If this is the tea party choice–and she is–it’s pathetic.  It tells us that conservatives are so desperate to win, they’ll embrace anyone. So gullible, so foolish that they deserve what they get.

And of course, that’s not news.  Former Miss California USA, Carrie Prejean, is Exhibit A of conservative desperation and willingness to drop all principle in favor of an urge.  It’s no biggie to conservatives that she repeatedly lied about nude photos she willingly took not too long ago.  It’s no biggie to conservatives that she blamed the photos she willingly took on the wind and the photographer she hired to take them.  Yup, taking personal responsibility–I guess that’s no longer a conservative value.  Good to know.  It’s no biggie that Prejean made a sex tape and, of course, has an excuse for that, too.  What–pray tell–makes this woman any different from Paris Hilton, who is at least more honest about what she’s about?

I’m no fan of Larry King, but Prejean’s smug, arrogant response that he was “inappropriate” when he asked about her masturbation sex tape–the reason she had to settle her frivolous lawsuit against the Miss California USA people–is the indignance of a hypocrite and a cowardly fraud. In her book, Prejean whines that Donald Trump divided the Miss USA contestants into groups based on looks. Wow, a woman who is a contestant in a beauty pageant is upset that women are divided based on their looks. Helloooo . . . .?

Yet, the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute–a conservative women’s organization that claims to espouse family values–made this idiotette one of their calendar girls. Not a surprise, since in the past the organization made plagiarist Monica Crowley–who stole an article by historian Paul Johnson and presented it as her own in a Wall Street Journal article–one of its calendar girls of women America should admire. Michelle Malkin, who constantly claims to oppose the sexualization of children and society, didn’t seem to have a problem posing for the calendar with Ms. Nudie Personal Responsibility.  Isn’t this the same conservative columnist who wrote a column against the bleeped out words on “The Osbornes,” but had no problem with a high school principal who made girls lift up their skirts to see if they were wearing thong underwear?  Yes, hypocrites are never consistent. And they even pose with porn stars.  And they’re in the conservative movement, too.

At least, a Republican group in New Jersey had the guts and the decency Malkin and the Luce gang didn’t.  They canceled Prejean from an event at the last minute.  Another fraud, Sean Hannity, like the other conservatives, though, bought Prejean’s baloney hook, line, and sinker.

Prejean’s book about what a religious Christian she is and how she’s like Ann Coulter–a hilarious comparison–is called, “Still Standing,” which is kind of interesting because I believe when you make a sex tape starring only yourself, you’re doing it lying down.  But gullible conservatives are buying her fertilizer by the gallon, helping her book rank in the top thousand books on Amazon.com as I write this.

Yes, Prejean kinda sorta said the right thing–sort of–when she said she supports “opposite marriage,” when asked about gay marriage by gay blogger Perez Hilton at the Miss USA pageant.  But let’s be clear, her answer tried to ride both sides of the fence.  She started out by saying, “That’s the great thing about America, that  you can choose” between gay marriage and “opposite marriage.”  But that’s not the great thing about America, and those of us who are against recognizing same-sex unions as legal marriage don’t support that.  But since she ended the answer by saying that she personally believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, suddenly she’s the new conservative savioratrix.

With this brainless woman’s defecation all over personal responsibility, the family values she claims to espouse while doing sex tapes and nudie shots, about the only thing conservative or “religious” is her shameless devotion to capitalism.  She selling horsecrap and our aimless, leaderless movement is buying it.

But you know who the purest capitalists are?  Prostitutes.  And many in the  conservative movement, while turning on a dime to embrace bimbos and phonies, have shown themselves to be even bigger whores than Carrie Prejean.

I do wonder why we don’t have better candidates. The older I get (and I”m almost 50 now), the more I suspect that pretty much everyone’s got skeletons tucked away, and out side wants something that doesn’t seem to exist– a clean, demonstrably untarnished candidate who can survive the media anal exam.

I know I have skeletons. NEver even considered running, although I suspect I’d make a perfectly useful conservative pol at some level or other. But I refuse to put my family through that process. Our side is made up predominantly of people who have tried the lefty conscience-free life and ‘recovered’ from it to become better people… but the paper trail is there.

It’s one sided and nasty. But it is what it is.

That said, there is much good that is going on in our party regarding future stars, candidate choices, etc.

There are too many conservatives willing to sell out principle for visibility in the Obama Era. They are not willing to let their beliefs speak for themselves so they seek to take shortcuts back to power. No – that’s not going to get it done. The Carrie Prejeans, Glenn Becks and Sean Hannitys won’t get the conservative movement back in America’s good graces. As it stands, the only question is when conservatives will wake up – to the pretenders, phonies and frauds that have made a joke out of conservatism in this country.

Great piece Debbie. Reading DS.com, I was ahead of the curve in getting off the Palin train (wreck) and many other cases where “CINO’s” Conservative in name only’s are paraded as legitimate. Let’s add Buchanan, Brigitte Gabriel (Hanan Tudor), to these–L Brooks Patterson, Bob Nowak, Joe Knollenberg, Darrell Isa, Arnold, etc to the list of faux conservatives who have been held up as paragons of conservatism.

Reading DS.com has saved me from what would otherwise have been misguided support of every one of these idiots, traitors and anti-Semites.

I will say that this bimbo Prejean is hot looking…but she must be vacant morally and mentally. Spot on, DS.

BB on November 12, 2009 at 5:02 pm

I like Dobbs and I pay attention. Sure he is no conservative such as you Debbie but he is independent. I am independent who leans conservative. He does care about this country and his solutions may differ than yours but I believe both of your voices are great. A few other things Dobbs has been right about: against free trade, against bailout for corporations and banks, against corporations buying off Congress, has called for more accountability in the public schools (i.e. merit pay). Bailing out crappy businesses or writing legislation favoring corporate lobbying is not conservative either. Only person on the air to challenge Obama on his birth certificate. Dobbs is passionate about his views and isn’t flippant like so many out there. When someone who advances political views then is flippant (John Stewart, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, Glenn Beck, etc.) about other political views then it is about themselves and not about the what is best for this country. Dobbs took the issues seriously and always gave airtime for those that disagreed.

So Dobbs quitting is not a loss for conservatives, however he was fair to conservatives. He gave tea party conservatives a venue to voice their grievances. Illegal aliens activists are rejoicing because no one will be giving dedicated air time about this issue. He was the last of the cable shows that challenged the left and the right. Maybe a run at president as an independent. The timing is right for independents to make a run now that Obama is failing and Republicans have Palin as their leader. Palin will win the Republican primary. Obama v Palin v Dobbs?

You are right about Prejean and the conservative movement being desperate for leaders. She is a bimbo who made a statement that ired HOMOSEXUALS. If she was truly “conservative”, she would have said with no apologies, marriage is one man and one woman.
As for her appearance on Larry Lizard, I didn’t hear any mention about the sex tape. Her “inapporiate” comment was in regards to Lizard’s line of questioning about the settlement. She signed a settlement where both sides can’t divulge information. I can’t see why Lizard couldn’t accept that.

CS: Prejean settled because they showed her they had the sex tape. That’s why King asked about it. I will add something to make that clear in the entry. DS

CaliforniaScreaming on November 12, 2009 at 5:27 pm

The last 4 Presidential nominees of the GOP were phonies …bush, dole.bush and mccain. The two BEST TRUE conservatives were Pat Buchanan and Ron Paul….

robert m. simon on November 12, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Have to support Prejean to some extent on this one. I looked at the King video before Youtube removed it. He asked details about the settlement, which Prejean was legally compelled not to discuss. King tried to wheedle around the restrictions to get Prejean to discuss it. Prejean is not an attorney, and for a non-attorney, extreme caution is called for with regards to how to approach a discussion like this or how much elbow room to give oneself. With any uncertain aspect of the discussion, Prejean, for her own protection is compelled to err on the side of caution — if she’s not sure whether an aspect of the settlement should be discussed she has to decline. With some agreements, even discussing an innocuous aspect of the settlement can be considered a violation since this opens the door to derivative lines of questioning which may be expressly prohibited. The open door can frequently be termed a violation.

None of us has seen the language in the settlement, and King really should have known better. Not to excuse the sex tapes or to suggest Prejean is a leading conservative intellectual, but I think she was correct in the settlement discussion.

L: I’ve replaced the video, and it is now viewable. She discussed the sex tape on Sean Vannity’s show, yet she used the settlement as the reason not to discuss it on King. Sorry, but that was total BS from her. If she couldn’t discuss it, why did she on Vannity? Even the details of the settlement–that Prejean got only $100,000 to pay a portion of her legal and PR bills–was already made public by both parties. This was a ruse, b/c she didn’t want to discuss the sex tape in unpandering waters. DS

Little Al on November 12, 2009 at 6:14 pm

Preajean is just another bimbo trying vy for enough attention so she can gin up some interest in her fake boobs. Sex tape who cares, I’ve seen sex before and its overrated. Vannity, I could never understand his lack of veracity toward true conservative principles which tells me the show is about lifting his own image. As for the New York elections I felt something was wrong with the republicans putting their support behind Scosafava. When she bailed out before the weekend and put her support behind the democrat said it all. The republican party and conservatives are being infiltrated by liberals in order to divide and conquer inorder to lieralize country from within. Most of us won’t know the truth till its too late and no matter who you vote for theres a liberal in charge no matter what.

seahawker on November 12, 2009 at 7:22 pm

I understood Prejean’s comments about gay marriage to be related to state’s rights, which, in all fairness, do allow MA to legalize gay marriage while TX does not. All that said, Prejean is obviously not very bright.

Debbie, I almost always see your point when you slash and burn, and most of the time I agree with your summary assessment. However, I’m wondering if the type of person whom you would support would also tend to be unelectable for a high office. For such an office, I would think that the candidate would have to be a self-promoter, and such people inevitably become entangled with unseemly characters. Furthermore, such people are likely to make morally questionable choices at some point. It’s good that you bring such things up, as they need to be assessed. However, a screw-up or two does not necessarily mean someone is inherently toxic.

To put this in perspective, Hussein’s life is one big immoral/amoral adventure. The evidence is quite consistent, from his early days in college, his appalling alliance with Ayers, his nasty political shenanigans to get elective office, and his abhorrent preacher mentor.

Again, I’m not objecting to your research and your willingness to tell all. I just think that *sometimes* you are a bit too demanding.

SK: Yes, it’s far too demanding to want conservative leaders and heroes who don’t make sex tapes and tons of nude pictures and lie about it, blaming it on the wind and the photographer. Oh, and actually expecting a person who claims to read a lot of newspapers and magazines to actually name one–what am I thinking? PUH-LEEZE. I’m not demanding. You simply have zero standards. You are one of those in the lumpenconservatariat I’m talking about. No-one said anything against self-promoting. That’s what a campaign is. But the kind of promoting we need in campaigns and in moral debates is not sex tapes, nude photos, blame on everyone but the person who willingly participated in them, and complete dummies who haven’t a clue. If you want bimbos as your moral standardbearers, you belong in the Democratic party and Hollywood. DS

After seeing a prescreening of the movie 2012 I’m inclined to jope for its premiss to become reality to rid this world of all the phonies and egotist ruining our conservative way of life.

seahawker on November 12, 2009 at 9:15 pm

King missed his chance. He should have let her walk. Then he could have finished the interview with her chair empty. That way she would have looked far more foolish.

Allen on November 12, 2009 at 10:29 pm

Debbie, I just wrote a long response, but it wasn’t posted. As I don’t see you as the “banning” type, what went wrong?

sk on November 13, 2009 at 12:07 am

Prejean really just needs to crawl back under a rock. I in no way think Perez Hilton is anything more than a septic tank swimmer, but Carrie Prejean is as bad in her own way. She tried to portray herself as the All American Girl, when she was nothing more than a breast enhanced bimbo with a sex tape. Conservatives need to realize that they really do need to find people who do more than talk-the-talk. 2010 is a real opportunity to rollback some of Obama’s power, but it will only be a small reduction at this rate. Republicans, unless they actually start standing for something, will become as dead as the Federalists were by 1820.

sorrow01 on November 13, 2009 at 12:15 am

Well, I don’t know what happened. This is frustrating. I will try to recreate my response, though I will write more briefly.
————–

“You simply have zero standards. You are one of those in the lumpenconservatariat I’m talking about.”

Debbie, you are being unfair. I do not have “zero standards.” I do not support Palin because she lacks the intellectual firepower to be a standard bearer for the Republican party. Nor do I think much of the porno queen, who makes Palin look like Einstein. What I am looking for is a conservative like Alito, but one who is electable.

There is no creation without destruction, and you are a gifted destroyer. This deserves praise, and I have praised you elsewhere. At the end of the day, however, we need some names we can rally behind. Can you provide some?

Don’t make me into the enemy, Debbie. You and I agree much more than we disagree.

sk on November 13, 2009 at 12:18 am

For two people who have made their fame and fortune by debasing our culture–Miss CA and Miss WWE–to be held up as heroes by conservatives is so embarrassing.

Prejean inarticulately stumbled through what passes for an honest answer in these PC times. Who knows whether she was courageous or just too dumb to know what the “acceptable” answer would be?

Having unexpectedly found herself in the middle of a controversy, she took full advantage of it by playing up her “morals” to faux-conservatives like Hannity who want to find their own celebrity types to counter the left-wing culture of Hollywood, but far too often promote people who are really just mirror images of the famous dopes on the left who spout their sides’ party line amidst other dumb comments and embarrassing public displays.

We have to deal with an anti-American President misleading our country and and immoral dopes promoted as representatives of the opposition.

4infidels on November 13, 2009 at 1:08 am

Thank you! I’ve been waiting for someone to really hammer Prejean. She’s awful, and I knew the minute the she hit the national conscious that conservatives were about to embarrass themselves by getting behind her.

I knew Debbie wouldn’t let me down. I’m really pissed off at conservatives who would fawn all over a friggin’ beauty queen before, and don’t have a word to say about it now.

Matt on November 13, 2009 at 1:12 am

Does anyone think that Hannity or King cared about anything but ratings? The more salacious the story, the better, right?

Douglas Q on November 13, 2009 at 1:51 am

If King was dumb enuff to even have that 2 bit slut on his show for her opinion on anything he deserved it that she walked off. The only questions of value that he could have asked of her were on her favorite position or other film related experiences she’s had.

I am not a Beckian, nor do I march in lockstep with any mere mortal that comes to mind, but to see Beck lumped in with jon sewert and kieth dolberman is astounding. Many conservatives may dislike Beck for his theatrics and libertarian streak but at least he delivers Real Results and has gotten the dialog started on fostering honor, freedom and personal responsibilty, not to mention limited government, unlimited potential, freedom from government intrusion and control of every aspect of American’s lives, and Beck also brought intense awareness to the appointments to the positions of czars, seemingly marxist folks , like van jones, who was basically dismissed because of the expose by Beck. Then there was the 912 March on Washington which seemed to be well attended by over one million concerned citizens. Beck started the activist ball rolling. There can be no honest disputing of that fact.Give Americans the facts and they will rise to the challenge.
I wholeheartedly agree with Debbie that there is an almost unbelievable amount of lack of discernment on the part of tea party activists who seem to have allowed infiltrators, exploiters and disrupters into their ranks, big time. There continues, with the exception of Beck, to be no principled opposition to the socialist/marxist/collective policies being put into place by this administration. As Debbie articulates the alleged conservative tea partiers seem almost too gullible to be taken seriously. Any port in the storm, dont’cha know. Unlike democrats there is little loyalty among “conservatives” Too bad…

Interesting conversation was my first thought – even though these are comments not conversations, but I sure am sick of Ms. Prejean. I never thought she was anything but a bimbo – didn’t get the whole point of the hopefully brief love affair, but then I don’t watch TV – except just lately I have watched Glenn Beck whom I consider to be the real deal. He has had an epiphany obviously, but then I had one too about 9 years ago – not political but religious. He is a recovering alcoholic and I know about those too – my best friend is one. His political views are libertarian, but then so are my 3 adult children’s and the same best friend and her husband – and some of mine as well. However I find Glenn’s attention to Thomas Paine and basic founding principles very refreshing and very good for the conservative movement. Yes Tea Partiers are perhaps misled somewhat but my experience is that they are not, and they are learning more about our country and it founding as they go along. And yes I have attended a Tea Party and talked with some of those attending, including my state senator who is an admirable, tiny but tough and energetic lady.

About Linda McMahon a would-be CT senator – interesting that you should bring her up. I have had a number of snail mail requests for help from her turn up in my mailbox, and I have also heard from Simmons and Tobin, but not a word from my choice at this point, Peter Schiff. I saw him on Fox News after my hour of Glenn Beck, and I was totally impressed. He is an economic conservative, and as I’ve said for years, without property rights there are no human rights. I well remember his dad who refused to pay taxes which he believed were unconstitutional, and now Irwin Schiff is a 70 something man in jail. I would not have had the courage!

One person I would like to speak of who is to me the real deal, and that is Mark Levin, a mensch in every respect, and please do not speak ill of this man! He had had such heart problems and every time he coughs I worry. This man has got it right imho and he continues to give of himself on behalf of the country he loves.

I had a interesting experience last Tuesday – riding home from the airport with a driver I had ridden with before – a man whom I knew to be conservative but had never spoken with so extensively. Frank came to the US from Italy in 1961 and works as a driver for a limo company. He is intelligent and informed, with lots of time spent in an unoccupied car and the opportunity to listen a lot to talk radio. We talked politics all the way from Queens, NY to my home, a trip of over an hour, and to me he is a fine example of a serious commonsense conservative who loves his adopted country and fears for her future. Our conversation was both enlightening and uplifting. And incidentally, he likes Lou Dobbs who comes across to him as the real deal. However, I have only heard or seen Dobbs a few times but do agree with his stand on immigration.

Enough said – thanks for the round table Debbie – you’re a tough lady, but that’s what people say about me!

WOW! I had no idea!

(slightly OT: I hypertexted to a year old blog on plagarism by Monica Crowley)

Monica Crowley is the one voice that holds back the screech of the Newsweek witch on McLaughlin Group every Sunday.

Well, another blonde bites the dust…

But Debbie, cut some slack on Michelle Malkin –
She’s just behind you in prolific, on-the-money blogs!

Hannity is one of the founding members of conservative talk radio and TV…

………..Principles before personalities……….

We are too few to eat our Young!

D: Michelle Malkin helps and raises money for a woman who praised Muslim death, rape, and torture threats on my life and my family members’ lives. She is a fraud and a hypocrite. And she promoted a blatantly anti-Semitic article recently on her site, as well as accusing AIPAC of spying for Israel. There is nothing “on the money” about her. Exposing this fake Fraudkin is not “eating young” or the absence of principle. Wake the heck up. Hannity a “founding member” of anything? Frickin’ hilarious. What are you smoking? He’s a founding member of his bank account and the “Rush Limbaugh bad imitation tribute show.” And that’s it. If you think these people are principled, you don’t know what principle is.

‘last night, he pimped “climate change.” That’s conservative? PUH-LEEZE.’

This was the most interesting (or rather, unexpected) part of the whole article. While I do not have an opinion on climate change (being honest enough to admit I don’t understand the science and am not likely to, simply being shown a bunch of graphs and charts by one side and paranoid conspiracies by the other.) But I had no idea that opinions about climate change were related to being a conservative.

I’m not conservative. I’m not liberal. I think if you identify with either way of thinking very strongly, you are not a balanced person. I find TV to be vulgar, repetitive trash and haven’t watched it for decades, and the way sexuality is often portrayed there to be – ugly, but even more, sadly degrading. I’m for recognizing ALL humans as equal – and have a lot of disgust for the delusional party lifestyles promoted on tv, whether by gays or by heteros. I think gays should have civil unions, and that government should change its terminology so that it is out of the business of marriage altogether. If someone wants to join a church and work for change from within, that’s their problem.
