The Prob w/ Chick Reporters: Chicago Trib Reports on Terrorist’s “Striking” Looks

By Debbie Schlussel

Today’s Chicago Tribune highlights the problem with chick reporters.  A story written by three female reporters–Mary Wisniewski, Natasha Korecki, and Nancy Stuenkel–tells us this “important detail” about one of the Islamic terrorists indicted for using their Chicago-area halal slaughterhouse as a base for terror attacks in Denmark:

Denmark terrorism suspect a heroin smuggler with striking eyes: court records

Chicago Trib Reporters In Love w/ Islamic Terrorist’s “Striking” Eyes

Um, does anyone really believe that any court records anywhere in America said a terrorism suspect has “striking eyes”? And why the heck would we care what his eyes look like? How does that have anything to do with the guy’s involvement in international Islamic terrorism? So, if he’s got nice eyes, he couldn’t possibly be a terrorist? Hilarious. Guess what, Chicago Tribune?–They don’t all look as Halloween-scary as Mohammed Atta.

Reader Duane asks:

Relevance of striking eyes? Do they want to report on him or date him?

You can almost feel the drool dripping from their “reporting” on Daood Gilani a/k/a David Headley.

Two male reporters–Frank Main and Mark Konkol–also penned the story, but, hey, given their obsession with the terrorist’s looks, maybe they’re, um, “fans of Donna Summer,” if ya know what I mean.

Any woman who cares about a man’s looks more than his character, is just plain stupid. And not a very good judge of life.

This trend has been around a while. In 1987, Saddam Hussein’s vicious Ba’thist Iraq waged a well-funded “charm offensive” on the U.S. media, and it worked in spades. That eternal self-congratulater, columnist Georgie Ann Geyer, boasted of her “exclusive” interviews, in Baghdad with all expenses paid, with “handsome” propagandist Nizar Hamdoon. She fell all over herself to gush that Iraq was a “bastion of Western values” against an imminent takeover of the Persian Gulf’s oil by the Islamic Republic of Iran. No one ever took her to task for it, and she even had the temerity later on in the game to call Congressman Tom Lantos “mouthy” when, after the First Iraq War in 1991, in a congressional hearing he asked of our clueless ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, why she had not made it absolutely clear to Saddam that the U.S. would go to war if he attached Kuwait. Her huffy reply: “I had no idea he could be so stupid!!”

Men – particularly men from patriarchal societies don’t take a woman seriously. Why should Saddam have paid attention to Ambassador Glaspie? This is a good example of what can happen when political correctness, AKA diversity, gets in the way of protecting the country’s interests.

Given the coward jihadis’ tendencies to dress as women to avoid detection, maybe it was pertinent to identifying him when dressed in a burqua.

Mary ( Unless this is a daughter) and I used to double date. Our husbands, mine ex, were good friends. I liked her. She asked me when my daughter was born in 1970, and I stated that I planned to stay home, if I was going to be a leech all my life! In fairness to her, about 10 years later when I reminded her, she was horrified to hear that she had said it and begged forgiveness. I don’t know if this is the old Liberalism rearing up or just old age setting in. Sorry to hear it but I guess that’s what 40 years of being a liberal “thinker” will do to a good mind.
BTW, She got her start in “journalism” at True Confessions or a similar rag. Moved up to UPI after she finished college.

For the mainstream media, obnoxious as this article is, it is the tip of the iceberg. Remember all the articles about our glorious leader’s looks? His movie-star appearance, etc. etc. ad nauseum? And nitwits like Maureen Dowd? All the articles by women reporters mentioning someone’s height (if they liked the subject and he was tall, that always entered into the article)?

But this may be saying just as much about PC as about the low level of much female reporter writing. After all, if a male reporter said a female subject was good looking, it would get the PC police after him, and in spite of the homophilic attitude in society today, a male reporter gushing over the looks of a male subject still isn’t quite sanctioned — but give it a little time!

Maybe these airheads can get together and write a story about the 9-11 hijackers having cute butts. Or maybe one about Yasser Arafat being ruggedly handsome.

Well, one of the 911 hitchhikers was so strikingly handsome, I’d take it over any Western man any time. They are good in bed too, Arabic men, they got a lot of fire in them. Yeah lots of 911 terrorists were handsome/cute, sorry pple, u can’t deny this fact. The dude who wrote this article is probably just jealous cause chicks don’t hit on him

FYI: the Chicago Sun Times is linked, not the Tribune.

(the ‘trouble with chick bloggers’? Just kidding, I couldn’t resist)
