Which Prez Signed Law Giving Illegal Alien Kids Ease of Entry, Gobs of Benefits? Angelina Jolie’s Role
Who made it possible for illegal aliens kids to live a wonderful life here once they set foot on American land? And why does Angelina Jolie deserve a lot of blame for the current “youth” illegal alien crisis on the Southern border?
Obama, Bush, Angelina Jolie: They Share the Blame for the Youth Illegal Alien Crisis @ the Southern Border
I’ll give you a hint: it ain’t the current Prez. But it is the one who claimed he was gonna make us safer after 19 Muslim aliens murdered 3,000 Americans and then had their visas renewed. And part of this is because of the urging of actress/director Angelina Jolie, with whom the Bush Administration constantly met and acquiesced on immigration matters. Yup, that’s real Republican, ain’t it? More on Jolie’s role later, but remember that she is funding the lawyers who keep these illegal aliens here and if you go to see her movies, you are giving her the money to pay the lawyers.
Yes, Barack Obama is getting most of the blame for the crisis of mass child illegal alien migration into the Southern border–and he deserves a great deal of it because he is the one who gave illegal alien “DREAM” “kids” instant citizenship and will give it to these “kids,” too. But, instead of listening to shrieking partisans who really haven’t done their homework on this issue, have you bothered asking yourself which President signed into law (and which Congressmen and Senators voted for it) legislation giving these illegal alien “kids” the protections that enable them to stay here and live well? I’ll give you a hint: his name is George W. Bush, and he signed three separate laws creating all sorts of protections and benefits for the illegal alien youths with whom this country is now overwhelmed.
Those protections now allow them to stay here and leave us unprotected. Remember him? The self-styled “national security Prez”? Um, no, he wasn’t that at all. Not even close.
Over a year ago, I was the first journalist to break the news about the crisis of illegal alien “youths” pouring into the border and being “reverse escorted” into the country by Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) planes, where the “youths” would be housed at charities, lawyered up, and easily manage to stay here for either amnesty or the Obama administration stretching of the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals executive order giving illegal alien kids a/k/a “DREAMers” instant green card status and quick citizenship). At the time, various ICE agents told me that they had no choice in the matter because the law requires that illegal alien minors–particularly those who are OTM (Other Than Mexican)–to be transferred to the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services, which searches for relatives in the U.S. to take custody of them and/or provides them with a bed, food, and lawyers, without any deportation mandate.
I did a little research into this at the time and found that, in fact, the Bush Administration made this the law, whereas previously, the Border Patrol would often bus or dump these “youths” back in Mexico, which is the way it should still be. Sadly, George W. Bush, in creating the Department of Homeland Security and authorizing its funding in 2002, created new rights for illegal alien women and children because this was part of his administration’s new front-and-center showcase of illegal alien hookers it paraded around as “victims” and to whom it provided these protections (and, often, ultimately, U.S. citizenship).
As I noted years ago on this site, the Bush Administration opened an ICE Hollywood office with an official ICE Hollywood liaison, whose job it was to get Hollywood to do movies about how ICE was saving these “involuntary” hooker illegal aliens. In fact, many of these women and “children” are here sleeping around because they want to be in America, not because they were forced to. But that isn’t the theme, for example, in the 2005 Lifetime movie, “Human Trafficking,” starring Mira Sorvino as a sexy ICE agent who rescues Eastern European sex slaves. In any event, it was Bush policy that, instead of mass deportation of male illegal aliens (which it was curtailing to please businesses needing cheap labor), it would focus the public’s attention on these poor, oppressed illegal alien hookers, so ICE could look like it was actually doing something.
To that end, Bush gave extra rights, protections, and entitlements to illegal alien “children” enabling the current crisis. He did it first in the 2002 Homeland Security Act. Then, he expanded those rights, protections, and entitlements with the Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection Act (for which Angelina Jolie vehemently lobbied), and expanded them yet again at the very end of his presidency (December 23, 2008) when no one would notice, as he signed the 2008 Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (full name: “the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act to combat Human Trafficking”), which mandated that illegal alien kids (particularly the OTMs) be transferred to HHS’ Office of Refugee Resettlement within 24 hours of setting foot on U.S. soil or as soon as reasonably possible. Yes, Bush signed this law. And your Congressman and/or Senators probably voted for it, after Angelina Jolie lobbied them on it. But you won’t be able to find out for sure because the House passed the measure by a voice vote, not a roll call vote, and the Senate passed it by unanimous consent (so all of you in America can blame your Senators for the current crisis). Here’s an ICE press release heralding the Bush sneak expansion of child illegal alien rights:
On December 23, President Bush signed into law a bill that enhances measures to combat human trafficking. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Assistant Secretary John Torres were among 16 federal agency and private organizational leaders in the Oval Office who witnessed the signing of H.R. 7311, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. Elyse Smith, daughter of Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), also attended the signing event. The bill, which was passed by voice vote in the House and unanimous consent in the Senate on December 10, authorizes appropriations for FY 2008 through 2011 for the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.
The legislation enacted today is in keeping with the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2005 (which amended the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000) to direct the United States Agency for International Development, the Department of State, and the Department of Defense to incorporate anti-trafficking and protection measures for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children, into their post-conflict and humanitarian emergency assistance and program activities.
Prior to the signing, White House Deputy Press Secretary Tony Fratto, said that the bill “has been a priority issue for the administration in preventing the trafficking of persons around the world. So this is a piece of legislation we’re very proud to sign.”
The trafficking bill signed today was named after English abolitionist William Wilberforce, who led the Parliamentary movement against the British slave trade in the early 19th century.
By the way, you think these male “youth” gang members coming over the border are being trafficked as sex slaves? Think again. But they are getting all the benefits of the Bush Administration’s liberal policy signed into law that assumes that all underaged illegal aliens are victims of sexual trafficking and deserve all protections possible to remain here ad infinitum.
And to stick to blatant partisanship and avoid telling the truth on this issue, conservative talk radio show hosts and Breitfraud are claiming this is Obama’s law. It isn’t. Early last week on his nationally syndicated radio show, Limbaugh read some of the benefits afforded to illegal alien “youths.” And he specifically said that giving these kids the benefits is Obama’s doing so Obama is at fault. That’s simply false. Bush and your Congressman and Senators gave these kids the benefits.
So where does Angelina Jolie come in?
Well, she heavily lobbied Congress and the Bush Administration to give these “youths” expanded protections to stay here. As I also noted repeatedly on this site years ago, the Bush Administration invited the actress and self-styled human rights activist to visit the detention centers where illegal alien youths were being held and where they were well fed, provided with all kinds of toys, and educated and cared for. Jolie visited those on more than one occasion under the guise of monitoring evil America on behalf of the UN High Commission on Refugees (um, these aren’t refugees–they are illegal alien lawbreakers). She repeatedly lectured then-Secretary of State Colin Powell, who took her on tours of the facilities, whining that these kids didn’t have access to lawyers and other benefits.
In 2006, she wrote an article in the U.N.’s “Refugee” magazine, comparing America’s attempts to secure its borders to Hitler’s treatment of his victims. She also compared efforts to deport illegal aliens to racism and likened the illegals to Martin Luther King being assassinated. Also in 2006, she told a conference in Davos, Switzerland, that she was “absolutely ashamed” of America because it refused to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, which would have mandated that America provide ACLU-style human rights lawyers for illegal aliens and children of terrorists.
And–voila!–Congress and the Bush Administration gave immigration expert Palestina Jolie everything she demanded. Now, these illegal alien kids have lawyers and everything else that assures they will be with us forever and never be deported to whence they came.
The Goodwill Ambassador became interested in asylum seekers in detention, especially children, when she witnessed court proceedings for detained asylum seekers in Arlington, Virginia in November 2001. Last year, she was instrumental in building awareness and support for the Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection Act of 2003 (S.1129), a Congressional bill co-sponsored by US Senators Diane Feinstein and Sam Brownback. In addition to raising tremendous public support for the bill, Senators Arlen Specter and Hilary Clinton agreed to co-sponsor the bill during private meetings with Jolie. The bill will ensure that detained unaccompanied children will be treated properly and humanely while in custody and assigned legal counsel and guardians to assist them with immigration proceedings.
Since the transfer, UNHCR has been working with the Office of Refugee Resettlement to provide even greater protection, assistance and support for unaccompanied children. In particular, all unaccompanied children in detention should have a guardian ad litem [“guardian at law” – The person appointed by the court to look out for the best interests of the child during the course of legal proceedings] and legal counsel to help ensure they are protected and cared for during their detention and legal immigration proceedings.
At the end of her visit to Arizona, Jolie was enthusiastic about the cooperation. “I am excited that UNHCR is working with ORR on this initiative,” she said. “These children are true survivors. I am awed by their spirit and inspired by their resilience. I hope they can find ways to work together to provide them with the care and assistance they deserve.
But Obama shares half the blame here. He is definitely at fault for the growing crisis at the border in his own right. Top ICE officials (who are powerless to do anything) tell me that Obama’s DACA executive order giving instant green cards and fast citizenship to illegal alien kids is the reason these youths have come over the border, as they believe it will be applied to them, too. And the ICE officials tell me that they believe, just like the illegal alien kids now coming over the border do, that Obama will ultimately give these kids the same green cards and fast citizenship that he originally said he would only give, under DACA, to kids who’d been here since seven years ago and were in a certain age range. There is plenty of leeway in DACA to expand it to the current influxes of “youths.” I talked about this on Friday evening on the nationally syndicated “Roger Hedgecock Show,” and, now, Joe Biden is hinting at exactly what I said would happen.
And even if Obama’s DACA executive order is not applied to the present and recent past influxes of illegal alien youths, those illegal alien kids who do not have any relatives here can stay as unwanted houseguests as long as they like, or at least until they turn 18. The legislation Bush signed into law protects minors who are alone from being kicked out of the country. So, they are here to stay. And once they’ve been here a while, I’m sure President Hillary will tell the country, as Obama told us about the DREAMers, “they are as American as you and me in every way, except on paper.”
Our immigration system is bleeped up. And it is the death of our country.
The cancer has spread. But Obama was not the only or even the first to do the infecting.
By the way, Angelina Jolie is still helping these illegal alien “youths,” as she set up and funded a foundation to provide lawyers for them:
A nonprofit founded by Angelina Jolie is making sure hundreds of underage immigrants who sneak into the country and get caught don’t face an immigration judge alone. The group, Kids in Need of Defense, enlists pro bono lawyers to represent undocumented minors, vastly increasing the chance they won’t be sent back to a homeland they risked their life to flee. It’s a national program, but the group’s New York office is the busiest, and it has helped more than 500 kids in two and a half years.
If you pay to see Jolie’s movies, you are funding lawyers for illegal alien “youths” and helping them invade the country and stay here.
