Is this the Europe of 2013 or 1943? Far too often, it’s hard to tell the difference.

My friend from college and law school, Ben, sends this story from Lyon via London, where he lives. Frenchmen with masks attacked fans of the London-based Tottenham Hotspur soccer team. Ben notes that this is straight-up anti-semitism because Tottenham is the team that many North London Jews support. The vast majority of Jews in the UK live in North London. Well, the shouts of “Jew! Jew!” are enough evidence for me, even if we didn’t have the background info. Also, I wonder why these Frenchmen were wearing balaclavas. Were they Muslim? In France, that’s generally a sure bet, especially given the circumstances here. I don’t buy the French police claim that this was a “far right group.” Not as likely. And we know that the majority of recent attacks on Jews in Lyon were committed by Muslims. Remember the murder of the Jews at the Lyon school, which French police also said was done by a “right wing extremist”? Turned out to be a Muslim.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been attacked in a bar in the French city of Lyon on the eve of their side’s Europa League tie. Three supporters were taken to hospital on Wednesday after men wearing balaclavas smashed the Smoking Dog Pub’s windows. . . . Lyon-based journalist Alexander Aucott said the windows were smashed with tables and chairs from another bar. The Foreign Office confirmed it was looking into reports of the attack. Other fans were hurt by flying glass in the incident that took place nearly 24 hours before the match, in the last-32 stage of the tournament.

Sports journalist Christian Radnedge, a Tottenham fan, who was in the bar – an English-style pub – told BBC Radio 5 live the men gave Nazi salutes before launching the attack. . . . Among other things, a lit flare is understood to have been thrown into the bar, which was filled with up to 150 fans, landlord Dave Eales, originally from Nottinghamshire, said. . . .There were three injured Tottenham fans taken away by ambulance. . . . Liam Kerwin who was working at the pub said the flare was put out when it landed in a pool of beer. . . . He said the group had chanted: “Jew, Jew.”

Yes, this is the new old France. Same as it ever was. Jews aren’t safe there, now that Muslims are at least a quarter if not a third of the French population and well on their way to surpassing the magic 50% mark.

I know all about the “no true Scotsman” fallacy. People employ it as a tool of denial of collective reality. The example I raise here is something entirely different in context. As an ethno-religious realist, I maintain that dark-skinned Muslims don’t even BELONG in France. That is, they somehow (legally or not) were admitted, but in no meaningful sense have adopted the ways and mores of the historic French nation.

If this were a “no true Frenchman” case, it would involve a white non-Islamic Frenchman doing something terrible. I suggest you re-read the late Professor Anthony Flew’s original argument.

Skunky, that’s always been my beef w/ the term ‘Right-Wing’ to describe Nazi or Fascist movements. As you noted, Nazi stood for National Socialist (German) Labor Party, and they were by no means Capitalists.

Yeah, they had a hate relationship w/ the Communists, suspecting them to be Jews, since Karl Marx was ‘a Jew’ (never mind Marx himself stating the stuff about religion being the opium of the masses, or the Soviets themselves being as anti-Semitic as their Tsarist predecessors). But that by no means made/makes them right wing.

As history has taught anyone that cares enough to read it, one must always prepare for the worst. It is apparent that we are dealing with newer levels of the worst. If I were a french Jew, I would leave or carry whatever weapon I could carry. Maybe something I wasn’t supposed to have just for a worse case scenario like multiple attackers. A decent weighted chain or cable with a heavy lead filled wallet would be something to deal with more than one bad guy. Sadly, too many people take for granted that the police will somehow save them. In the winter time, I’d freeze a couple of plastic water bottles just for the blunt force value.

As an old used to be Baptist and current heretic, kuffar, infidel, secularist, etc., I don’t understand where all the antisemitism is coming from. I mean, who is teaching it? I see it everywhere on the Internet, but I don’t have a grasp of why, who, where, etc. Are they teaching it in the universities, churches, schools? Am I missing something? It’s hard to know the exact reasons historically but today there are some obvious factors.
As pat said many people now have closer affiliations to Muslim interests and they see the happy co-existence of the West with Islam as far more important than a few inconvenient Jews.
As you yourself mentioned many Jews are prominent, this makes them targets for attack from all directions.

Since if you have an issue with any particular political or economic movement you can always point to a few Jews in the heirarchy who can be portrayed as puppet masters.
Jealousy of course is a very human failing.

Also there are now very many prominent self hating Jews like Noam Chomsky who now teach people to see Israel as an imperialist source of self perpetuating conflict in the world.

There are so many reasons Pray Hard.

You will also find that many people who move towards secularism from faith backgrounds who may have disliked Jews on religious grounds don’t really leave their antipathy for Jews behind in much the same way that someone with no religious faith might still have an aversion to the number 13.

So you’ll find many people in Europe with left leaning views only too happy to blame Jews for all the conflict in the Middle East and the world because it suits them, because they are cowards and because they are too stupid to understand it solves nothing.

These same people never talk about the oppression of Tibet by China or a host of other issues. Why? Because it’s not topical, it’s not on the news every week like the Palestinian conflict and because it doesn’t impress their social circle.

The world will soon be in flames as it was in the 40s. It is important now to decide which side we as individuals will support. So called Christians and Jews will be excoriated for their faithlessness and for allowing their tolerance of islam to displace fealty to the one true G-d. Their number will be winnowed leaving the true believers. As He has always done, G-d will deliver a victor and a vanquished (see Berlin in May 1945 for example of the latter). No one will live untouched by the conflagration. It is how we will live after the crisis that should drive our decision regarding the team we will join. Now is the time to make the choice. Dr Conrad Murray got admitted into an affirmative action medical school. Meharry is in Tennesse, with an average MCAT of 7.5 and average GPA of 3.1. He failed his board exams…so he was not a board certified cardiologist though he did practice as one. You can practice even without passing the board exams in the USA – not Canada though! Kanye Wests mom died from a Plastic Surgeon that also was not board certified (failed his exams as well). He was loved by Oprah, and on TV frequently as an expert plastic surgeon, even though he failed his exams!!

Dr. Conrad also had lots of other issues with his credentialing.

It is shocking to me that many politicians, Hollywood “celebrities”, and that ilk, feel so free to make anti-semitic remarks. They know they will not suffer any repercussions. I find this very disturbing & wonder what has happened here since my high schools days in the early 70’s. At Dondero High School, we had a substantial number of Jewish students. I never witnessed, nor did I ever hear of, any anti-semitic behavior. So sad to see this happening in our once great country.

“Argo” won Best Picture – upsetting Iran and two Israeli Far Lefist fakumentaries didn’t win a single nomination!

G-d does exist to discomfit our enemies.

Maybe it’s time for the French Jews to fight back. There is nothing preventing them from beating the thugs. One good thug beating will do more good then all of these articals and complaints. I’m not advocating going after them. Just be prepared when they come for you and turn the tables. Do you really think that complaining will stop the thugs. Maybe writing articales on the terrible anti semites will stop them.
Newsflash, that’s what they thought in 39. WTFU and do something about it.

Correct Seek, more likely DS is very busy with her own work (probably dealing a client(s)), and from time to time, we do need a little breather and time-out from the news and current events, if you let all of the news get to, you’ll become an insane sociopath.

So am I concerned for Debbie’s personal welfare, yes I am, however at the very sametime she maybe extremely busy with her work and doesn’t have enough time to forward anytype of story that’s going on in the world!
