A Young Celeb Who Doesn’t Go w/ the (Lefty) Flow

By Debbie Schlussel

As readers know, I do not put much weight into celebrity opinions on politics . . . even when they’re on my side.  Conservatives know that our positions on the issues are right, and we don’t need some glorified high school grad to confirm it for us.

Still, I have to say it was refreshing to read the answer of actress Melissa Joan Hart (“Sabrina the Teen Age Witch”) when she was asked what book she’s reading by People Magazine (August 3rd issue):

melissajoanhartreagan

Normally, I ‘m not a fan of Peggy Noonan.  But I do like Ronald Reagan.  I like Hart’s answer that much better because whenever I’ve been in Los Angeles, people have mistaken me for her.  Apparently, we are also alike in our admiration for the greatest American President of the last several decades.

Gee, I hope she didn’t just completely destroy any chance of resurrecting her acting career.  You know–the “tolerance” for conservatives by the liberals who dominate Hollywood competes on par with Islam’s “tolerance” of everything else.

Haven’t seen Melissa Hart in a project or TV show in years. Is she banned from the studios because she is not liberal?

BTW, if you are being mistaken for Hart, then you should definitely replace the old pic atop the new website.

Have a meaningful, but physically easy fast.

I don’t care what celebrities think. Most of them have a grossly inflated opinion of themselves and aren’t very knowledgeable about issues. Every now then, there are the exceptions to the rule like Melissa Joan Hart. We can’t expect every famous person to have common sense and express themselves clearly. The other day I stated that I felt that Sarah Palin brings conservatism into low repute because she isn’t one. A true conservative is going to say and do the right things out of conviction and not because its a poll-tested position. There are too many faux conservatives who follow the latter because for them popularity matters more than principle.

NormanF on July 29, 2009 at 4:50 pm

I would have to agree with chsw. I see a resemblance.

Hey Debbie,

When Neda in Iran and others were being shot, Pres. Obama was shown happily eating an ice cream cone. Ann Coulter suggested the ice cream flavor was tutti fruity.

What ice cream flavor will “the Messiah” eat when Iran tries to test its nukes on Israel?

German Barvarian chocolate?

Have as nice a fast as possible. I’ll try to fast, too.

B”H

Yep. Double standards,…everywhere you look, ESPECIALLY in Hollywood.

Ben-Yehudah on July 29, 2009 at 5:24 pm

NormanF, I’m confused by your post. Can you enlighten us a little further? How is Sarah Palin a faux conservative in your opinion? What stand has she taken that is not conservative other than having to give tacit support to a true fake conservative, that Dole-esque loser, Captain Queeg, who sat at the top of the Republican ticket by default last Fall?

DavyCrockett on July 29, 2009 at 5:39 pm

I’d hit that.

A1 on July 29, 2009 at 8:29 pm

See Deb, being conservative can be a beautiful thing.

Bob Porrazzo on July 29, 2009 at 8:35 pm

This is impressive. Most likely she had to keep her mouth quiet for all these years in order to work in the totalitarian regime known as hollywood.

“Conservatives know that our positions on the issues are right, and we don’t need some glorified high school grad to confirm it for us.”
1) There is a difference between a professional actor/actress and a “celebrity”. Ms. Hart is a young actress.
2) Though I dislike elitist Pegeen Noonan, her book When Character Was King was quite good. Too bad Noonan has so little character herself.
3) As a conservative actress myself, I know how difficult it is to be OUT as a conservative, let alone a Reagan admirer in this field. (I live and work in Chicago not Hollywood and it is bad enough here. I can only imagine what Ms. Hart or Gary Sinise have to go through.)
4) The above crack about “high school grad” shows how little is known about what it takes to be a real actor not merely a celeb. I will go and check my diploma but I am pretty sure it says NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY not Northwestern High. Damn proud to be a Wildcat, Debbie.

I didn’t see Sabrina, but she was great in “Clarissa Explains It All”!

now I know what she has not been around lately

When I was at the dentist I flipped through an issue of People or something, and it said that Hart had put her career on hold to focus on her family. The article was about her weight loss. She seemed like she had her head screwed on right. Sadly, probably now that she has outed herself, she’ll never get a job offer again.

It doesn’t take much to see what she has been up to creatively. Look up her name in a search engine on the Internet. A good place to look is the Internet Movie Database, although that doesn’t include any theatrical productions. From this we get for this year:

# Nine Dead (2009) (completed) …. Kelley
# My Fake Fiance (2009) (TV) …. Jennifer
# Satin (2009) …. Lauren Wells

Jettboy on July 30, 2009 at 10:12 am

DavyCrockett, as Debbie pointed out, Palin supports affirmative action, defends the privacy grounds of Roe V Wade, supports illegal immigration, backs a Palestinian state and accepted the federal stimulus for Alaska after being against it. Those aren’t conservative views. And then there’s the issue of her family lifestyle, including backing single parenthood for her daughter Bristol. Some people don’t want to hear the truth.

NormanF on July 30, 2009 at 2:16 pm

Thanks Norm. I appreciate the clarification and understand completely. Sometimes when a Sarah Palin comes along she looks and sounds excellent compared to the field. That’s really the case here as compared to all the Dems and a majority of those Repubs in the running for Pres and Veep last year, she looked good as an alternative and might still in the next go round unless a Reagan suddenly arrives on the scene. This just points up the dilemma we conservatives face when a truly pure conservative doesn’t rise in the polls. We’re left to either be pragmatic and support the lesser non-conservative such George Bush (Daddy and Shrub), and that loser and sellout McCain (ugh!). What’s the alternative? Sit on the sidelines in protest? That only ends up being a lose: lose proposition for our cause. Let’s watch and see how she develops. Remember, Reagan was once a Democrat union man.

DavyCrockett on July 30, 2009 at 5:38 pm

You’re too funny.

I won’t quote celebrities, even if they agree with me. Iwill, however, quote this celebrity who agrees with me.

Satire is now obsolete.

David Bannish on July 30, 2009 at 7:22 pm

Peggy Noonan has evolved into a genuine peace of s–t! It’s gotta be the water, or something! ANYONE???

Jackson Pearson jnsat on July 30, 2009 at 11:00 pm

Thanks for the laugh–“I like Hart’s answer that much better because whenever I’ve been in Los Angeles, people have mistaken me for her.” You really wrote that? Do you believe that too? OMG that is hilarious. Maybe Quato from Total Recall but not MJH.

Ok, that wasn’t very nice. Sorry. I guess I’m still a little sore about your mistreatment of baseball hall of fame legend Rickey Henderson–asserting that his poor speaking abilities are somehow related to Ebonics. Maybe it was unintentional but I understood your comment/headline to mean, “all blacks speak poorly and they choose to act this way on purpose and its pathetic.” Don’t believe me? Go back and read your words.

I want to remind you that you can get your point across without low brow sensationalism.

Joe Schmoe on July 31, 2009 at 3:00 pm

Schmoe,C’mon man men don t treat any woman the way you did DS,it is her blog and she can say it,gentlemen we just enjoy or disagree but don t ever insult the host,as far as looks…..well to me DS has cojones, character, not my faith but she has faith in the almighty, that today is hard to find, she doesn t need any one defending her either I am just pointing out what is obvious to all,ah and she is beautiful too.

Juan on January 29, 2012 at 10:28 pm

I might not agree with some of Palin’s doings but I find it funny that nobody understands how much of a threat the Liberals feel she is going all out to destroy her. I will say this of Sarah she is a true American Patriot and even though I don’t agree with all she stands for I will stand next to her anytime. The further we are going down the socialist communist shit hole the more we have to band together with people who are at least in agreement with us on a majority of the issues and who want our country to be guided by the Constitution of the United States.

And as far as Ricky goes he was a hell of a ball player but there is no I in team!

Doug on July 31, 2009 at 3:37 pm

Who mistakes you for MJH – the blind or the insane?

Boner McGee on March 7, 2011 at 12:37 pm

If you compare the pic that is here in DS blog and what she has on top of her page they do look alike, not like twin sisters mind you,but they do look a little alike, toe both are downright drop dead gorgeous, yes I ve seen Debbie on youtube and she is beautiful, agree or disagree, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Juan on January 29, 2012 at 10:37 pm

Just because she reads a book by former Reagan’s speeech writer, it doesn’t make her a republican.

online tv on September 11, 2011 at 11:18 am

You may also take note she has one of the better marriages in Hollywood. No gossip about it at all. I’m happy for her & her family.

Al Coritz on October 1, 2011 at 9:49 am

I found this site when I googled “Melissa Joan Hart political affiliation.” I was hoping against hope that she was a Republican, because she would be so good in advertisements refuting the Democrats’ misleading catch phrases, i.e. “the 1 percent should pay their fair share.” Just look at the camera, as Clarissa did, and explain it all. The Republican positions require telling the “whole story”

Denise on April 13, 2012 at 4:28 pm

Good for her. Glad to know there’s… I think that’s three of us now in hollywood. And one of them is goodlooking! It’s a start.
