HUH?! Guess Who the Presidents’ Descendants Are Voting For?

By Debbie Schlussel

I told you about the women’s magazines, such as “Elle,” which are in the tank for Barack Obama and make no pretense of fair play. Glamour Magazine is the exception. It gave equal time to Mitt Romney in its November issue and deserves credit for that. Also in its November issue, though, is an interesting piece on who the female descendants of past U.S. Presidents are voting for.

What Would Jackson, Jefferson, Nixon, Eisenhower, Hoover, Monroe, and Hayes’ Descendants Do?

I frankly couldn’t care less because I think for myself and, as I’ve noted before, I think there is too much emphasis in America on who your descendants are rather than who you are and what you personally contributed to America. The election is not a “What Would Jefferson Do?” moment. Still, it’s sad to read that Jennie Eisenhower, granddaughter of Richard Nixon and Great-granddaughter of Dwight D. Eisenhower is a mindless, far-left, liberal “actress” (have you ever seen her in anything?) who gushes over Obama and the Democrats. It’s even sadder to read that some woman, Jacqueline Yurkoski, claiming to be a relative of Thomas Jefferson, is repeating the myth that Thomas Jefferson fathered children with former slave Sally Hemings. Contrary to popular belief, DNA tests NEVER proved any such thing, only that a male relative of Jefferson’s (an uncle or brother) did, and her claim to be a Jefferson descendant sounds like an Elizabeth Warren Faucahontas story. Then, there the alleged great-great-great-great-granddaughter of James Monroe, whose name is . . . Sarah Cohen. Well, if you guessed someone named Cohen is more likely to vote for Obama, you know your customers. Frankly, the three Presidential descendants who actually have their ancestors’ surnames–Rachel Jackson, the great-great-great-great-granddaughter of Andrew Jackson; Elizabeth Hayes, great-great-great-granddaughter of Rutherford B. Hayes; and Margaret Hoover, liberal Republican and great-granddaughter of Herbert Hoover–are the only ones who make sense (and who seem to be legit, proven relatives of a former Prez). And they are all voting for Mitt Romney.

3 & 3. Just how this election will probably go down to the wire. How in the world people cannot see how Obama is running this country into the ground with socialist marxist ideas and policies is beyond me. If this country turns out to be a 3rd world cesspool like it is currently heading in with all the muslims and 3rd world garbage coming here, I better not hear one fucking liberal cry “what hapened to America” or I will smash them in the mouth. Liberals and the mutantoids voting for Obama should be sterilized and have their voting cards taken away. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am awake. Quit saying that. Been awake. Never fell asleep. 40 years now.

I am not the least bit interested in who Caroline Kennedy or Amy Carter are voting for and needless to say, that goes double for the political views of distant descendants of presidents. As an aside, Pat Buchannan claims to be a direct descendant of the president of the same name, which is nothing to brag about. He is generally regarded as being the 2nd worst president of the 19th century, with only his predecessor, Franklin Pierce in front of him. And Pat Robertson claims to be the great great grandsomething of Benjamin Harrison. I take anything Robertson says with a grain of salt.

This survey seems a little bit misleading. After all, how many great-grandchildren or great-great grandchildren do these presidents have. Certainly the number would be in the hundreds, so to choose a small number quite likely is cherry-picking.

Somewhat deceptive—

I agree. Why would anyone even care how the alleged descendants(in some cases) of past presidents would vote? If you vote the way your father and his father voted without giving it a second thought, that is putting your mind on cruise control or being effectively brain dead. The Democratic Party since Bill Clinton’s time has been effectively captured by the far left. Conservative Democrats, who until fairly recently had a fairly large footprint in the party are for the most part either gone or ignored. However, that does not automatically make the Republicans much better. Debbie has pointed out that many Republicans hide very liberal views on subjects as wide ranging as Islamic Terror and Immigration Reform. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, during the primary campaign, revealed views on business that would have made any Occupy Wall Street groupie happy if it had come out of the mouth of anyone else. Then you have garbage like Huntsman and Crist who walk away from the Republican Party when they are quite legitimately denied its endorsement for higher office. I believe that Christie, even though he does not know it, is going to pay dearly for his excessive embrace of Barack Obama in the aftermath of Sandy. If Romney loses to Barack Obama, there will be little time or patience for an Obama hugger seeking a U.S. Senate seat or the Presidency. Governor Christie has hit his ceiling. At some point, he will probably leave the Republican Party. Giving any Democrat during the tail end of an election season so many favorable photo ops is a big “No No”.

What? No fat jokes about Elizabeth Hayes’s Chris Crispie Creme like figure? Debbie is losing her touch in denigrating fat people. After all, what’s good for Nicki Blonsky/Gabby Sidibe/Melissa McCarthy/Rebel Wilson/Mo’Nique/Chris Christie is good for Elizabeth Hayes, no?

Robert on November 2, 2012 at 4:13 pm

I am a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. My credentials are better than these beefy ladies, and I am voting for Romney. As a proud American, myforefathers are also Washington, Adams, Jefferson, and Lincoln.

As to Jennie Eisenhower, may she grow a nose like her grandfather, extremely liberal Richard Nixon. And if Obama does win, may all of her inheritance wind up in the government’s pocket (Of course, that will never happen, because the wealthy and well connected are taken care of in the tax code).

We are not a monarchy, or not supposed to be. Who cares what these FHA members (Future Hags of America) think?

On a side note Deb, I thought you might find this interesting.

I have been to Monticello a few times. The last time I was there, the tour of the actual building was quite limited, and the tour guide did not know that much about Jefferson, including the fact that he was our first Patent Commissioner. I had to correct her a number of times, before I gave up.

However, the outside tour and lecture about Jefferson’s relationship with Sally Hemmings lasted almost three times as long as the tour inside Monticello. It was disgusting.

I will stick with touring Mount Vernon, which is just down the road from Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. At least Washington is not denigrated on that tour (Interesting side note: My friends from Hanoi wanted to see Mount Vernon…they appreciate our Founding Fathers more than we do).

It’s nice to see that the typical Liberal mind is STILL empty and as usual, knows nothing more than talking points on what their side of the isle *feels*. And I am being generous with saying the Obama-Putin Pimps here know the Liberal talking points. They should all be ashamed!

The Jeffersonian Jerk: “The economy can’t be fixed overnight.” Does this dope know ANYTHING about $$? Tax cuts and how they actually raise gubmint revenue? How businesses are sitting on MILLIONS of dollars that *MAY* be freed *IF* Obama-Putin loses on Tuesday? What obtrusive gubmint regulations do to businesses and keep fewer peeps gainfully employed?

She’s a good example of why females should not be able to vote.

The Eisenhower Effluvia-Eater: “I’m pro gay-marriage and pro-choice.” That’s nice, but I would not brag about it! Even if you are as dumb as you are you in 2012, HOW can you think these two woefully over-inflated issues (the gall bladder of politics!!) are the be-all, end-all? Islamic jihad? How broke we are? China? Russia? Political corruption? Nope, let gays (who en mass do not give a sh** about “gay” marriage) “marry” and kill innocent babies. Riiiiiight.

The Monroe Mental Case: She is the dopiest of them all! Even Courtney Stodden laughs at her! Really? 5 days until the election and this yobo really still thinks Obama-Putin still has “core values” and “integrity”? She thinks he’s “straight forward” and “honest”? This biotch prolly hasn’t left her couch in 4 years because she’s addicted to the Kardashians!

Anyone who even pays a modicum of attention to the issues will know these idiots are frauds and know less than a 3 day old baby. Nauseating!

They insult my intelligence!

bruce on November 2, 2012 at 6:39 pm

debbie i read caroline glick and she sounds like a good person who would not try to hurt israel or the usa.so how come she had any thing to do with oslo, did she think that there could be peace with muzzies and has she changed her minde about peace with barbarians.

bruce on November 2, 2012 at 6:47 pm

“Then, there the alleged great-great-great-great-granddaughter of James Monroe, whose name is . . . Sarah Cohen”

Why not? Probably most of the old-time U.S. presidents have descendants who are of partial Jewish ancestry. I know FDR has a great-grandson who is a Rabbi (his mother was Jewish, his father was FDR’s grandson).

dee on November 2, 2012 at 6:56 pm

I just can’t imagine why any magazine would write a story on who descendants of Presidents would vote for.

Jeff_W on November 2, 2012 at 7:35 pm

I know one descendant of Thomas Jefferson who won’t be voting for Obama this election because she (Marla Stevens) and her lesbian lover (Phyllis Stevens) are sitting in a federal prison doing time for embezzling $6 million from Aviva in order to live a high lifestyle and to contribute lots of money to Obama and other Democratic candidates.

DS is correct. Margaret Hoover is a VERY *Liberal* Republican. I see her on CNN often (@ the gym).

Did she tire of having to kiss the splotchy and old tuchis of Loofah Boy Bill O’Reilly? Did she get tired of getting hit around by that unstable and pompous misogynist?

When I DID watch PAWNN (years ago) her Liberal ways annoyed me. I have never been a Republican and I am heaps more Conservative than she ever has been.

Skunky on November 2, 2012 at 9:48 pm

Forgive me for being obtuse- but ANDREW JACKSON and his wife did not have children. He was married only once so how can he have descendants of any kind?

Agnes B. Bullock on November 3, 2012 at 9:42 am

J. Grant crushed it. Debbie always crushes it. So sick of this culture of ours glorifying anyone. Actress? That’s even more of a reason to ignore her. Even if she was.

samurai on November 3, 2012 at 11:20 am

personally, i found it interesting to see the descendants of former presidents… and amusing to see who they’re voting for.

it was entertaining in the same way it’s entertaining to pick-up the globe and leaf through it while waiting in the grocery checkout line. no big deal. i don’t take any of the opinions and voting preferences seriously, nor does it influence me.

my first reaction was also the elizabeth “pocahontas” warren factor; how many of these alleged presidential descendants are legitimate?

kirche on November 3, 2012 at 1:08 pm

@ Agnes B. Bullock, that is correct, Andrew Jackson had no biological son to carry on the Jackson name in the family. He adopted children from his wife’s siblings and from a family friend. Sarah Jackson is probably either descended from Andrew Jackson Jr who was the son of the wife’s brother and Andrew Jackson Sr. adopted him, OR from either of Andrew Jackson’s brothers, Hugh or Robert.

Bob on November 3, 2012 at 4:36 pm

Margaret looks like the only one I might do. Jennie looks like she could perform miracles with the physical size of her mouth, but, if she’s a liberal actress then there’s no telling where else that mouth has been (if you know what I mean and I think you do).

CornCoLeo on November 4, 2012 at 9:12 am

I believe Jennie’s mother, Julie Eisenhower, supported Obama in 2008.

Carol on November 5, 2012 at 12:41 am

My great-great-grandfather was an Oregon Senator and the third governor of the Idaho Territory (appointed by Andrew Johnson), Gov. David Wesley Ballard (see Wikipedia) – a Republican who successfully vetoed and fought a legislature filled with conniving Democrats. Anyway, count me in for Romney.

Robo on November 6, 2012 at 4:18 am

While the beliefs of these women are more than fair game, I hardly see why the fact that some have different last names than their ancestors puts any doubt on their heritage. Are all your relatives named Schlussel? Of course not. People marry and wives take on their husbands name and pass it on to their children. So I don’t see why a descendant of Monroe’s couldn’t be named Cohen. Perhaps one of Monroe’s female descendant’s, let’s say his granddaughter, had a lot of Shiksappeal. Next thing you know they’re celebrating Hannukah as well as Christmas at stately Monroe Manor. Hardly out of the ordinary. Though it is probably true that the one claiming to be a descendant of Jefferson and Hemmings is likely not on solid ground with her claims.
