Colorado Batman Shooting Airhead of the Day: Diane Sawyer Said What?!

By Debbie Schlussel

During this morning’s coverage of the arraignment of Aurora, Colorado Batman shooter James Holmes, there was a lot of the usual idiocy by the national news anchors. George Stephanopoulos gave legal analysis because he has a law degree from the University of Cover Bill Clinton’s Bimbo-Chasing Ass. But Diane Sawyer, a big-time liberal who strongly supports gun control (and did an hour-long “news special,” lecturing us that if we had guns, we would not be able to defend ourselves from the likes of Holmes), really outdid herself. As you may know, Holmes seemed out of it and looked like he was about to fall asleep several times during the hearing. He also sported his bright orange/red hair, which he dyed to look like the joker. But Diane Sawyer thought that was strange. She said something like this:

dianesawyer.jpg

Hmmm . . . he’s still sporting that red hair. I wonder why they let him come out still wearing that red hair. Why didn’t he change it back?

HUH????? Is there a beauty shop in the county lockup?

Do they allow suspects who dressed up as “The Joker” to dye their hair to look more presentable at trial? It’s conceivable–if Holmes already retained a private lawyer (and he did not, he merely has a public defender assigned to him)–that the lawyer would be allowed to give him a suit to wear. If he were out on bond–and he will never be–then, Holmes could go to the barber of his choosing. But this is a guy who just massacred 12 people and wounded 58 more. He was under lockdown. They aren’t gonna be letting him out to dye his hair or do much of anything else.

Leave it to this aging airhead and former beauty queen, Sawyer, to ask such a dumb question and linger on it. The guy just massacred people at a movie theater, and she’s asking why his hair wasn’t dyed back to a more palatable brown.

But the important questions–such as where did the unemployed Holmes get the money for $20,000 in weaponry–she didn’t utter. Out of her IQ-grade.

Boy, that Diane Sawyer is a real idiot.

DS_ROCKS! on July 23, 2012 at 1:16 pm

She has Liberal Dementia. However, I doubt she ever had any depth.

As Goes... on July 23, 2012 at 2:35 pm

Not one MSM reporter I’ve seen has asked the money question. Isn’t that the very first order of business? The second would be: how could this guy have assembled complex IED’s without training and/or help?

Sounds to me as if Diane Sawyer is feeling sorry for Holmes (as all good liberals would). After all, a good lawyer would have seen to it that he was well-coiffed and sharply dressed.

Interesting to me that Holmes’ parents haven’t sprung for a top flight defense lawyer. Also, where are all those pro bono Gitmo lawyers? If this guy were Muslim, the folks at Holder’s old firm would be lining up to represent him.

The money and the arming of the apartment are calculated and thought out but not by the idiot that pulled the trigger. He is a pawn in the now FIGHT to bear arms. It is our RIGHT but the DC pinheads that want to control everything from what we eat to what we read are behind it.
The reason the media “reports” like they do is because the amount of money spent on a presidential campaign is enough to meet their budget for three of the four years. They cannot speak out against the guys that pay their salary. Always follow the money… Always…

John on July 23, 2012 at 3:31 pm

Where the money came is the easy part. Earning a Phd. is not cheap probably came from his govt. funded student loans.

    alibaba123456 on July 24, 2012 at 4:53 pm

Diane Sawyer makes Barbara Walters seem like an intellectual by comparison.

Worry on July 23, 2012 at 1:25 pm

Debbie – give Diane a break. Without her teleprompter and script, she’s lost :)………..as you said, 12 people are dead, dozens more injured and she’s worried about his hair color.

Road Warrior on July 23, 2012 at 1:25 pm

No, . . . she’s not worried about his hair color. I would say, rather, taking it up as a first tool, she mentions it in concerned tones in order to begin the lefty-loosey process of distraction and minimization.

Now, how many of the Am ppl fall for it—and how thoroughly: “Identify with me and my questions and concerns; after all, I make 6 million per year.”, . . .

PhillipGaley on July 24, 2012 at 9:19 am

Maybe this explains where the money came from?
” The University of Colorado says shooting suspect James Holmes had a federal grant to study neuroscience.

University spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Saturday that Holmes was one of six neuroscience students at the school to get National Institutes of Health grant money. She didn’t know how much money he got.

E: On a radio show I did this morning, I surmised that his money might have come from student loans or grad school grants. However, he had to pay tuition. I’d like to know how much he got and where the oversight was. Thanks for sending the link. DS

ebayer on July 23, 2012 at 1:28 pm

It is not likely that he was able to purchase the firearms with the grant money, since it is not like the NIH would mail him a stack of twenties. Some of the other equipment, if it were dual use, might have been acquired through the misappropriation of grant funds. I suspect that Holmes may have had some outside help.

An anarchist group or groups might be testing new ways to make their presence known.

Worry on July 23, 2012 at 1:53 pm

Debbie, Grad level student loans were up to $25K per year back in 2004. Probably higher now. From this chart, you can see there would be money left over after tuition etc. was paid: http://www.ucdenver.edu/student-services/resources/CostsAndFinancing/DenverCampus/StudentBilling/HowMuchDoesItCost/2012_2013Tuition/Pages/GraduateTuition.aspx

Student loans can be used for basic living expenses as well as college fees. Add a grant on top of that and the money could very well come from the loans.

Italkit on July 23, 2012 at 2:50 pm

Sorry, It’s getting late here, I don’t necessarily believe he used student loan money, I think he had backing that also provided training but to answer how he could have used student loans and his grant, at a state school, taking only 6 credit hours, which is not too little in a Graduate program as grueling as neurosciences, he could have diverted the money knowing he was never going to use it for school.

Italkit on July 23, 2012 at 3:09 pm

Student loans and grants can be used to pay for room and board as well stuff related to a university education.

This guy had a promising career ahead of him as a doctor. Why he threw it away on senseless slaughtering 12 innocent people in a movie theater and G-d knows how many more, we’ll never really know.

Who spends $20,000 to acquire an arsenal he had. Oh and here is a question Debbie didn’t bring up in the last two posts on the Aurora Massacre.

News reports said James Holmes booby-trapped his apartment. Where did he get explosives? Its not like you can walk into a sporting goods store today and buy them. Another unanswered question. The police needed to send a special team to gain entry to his apartment and disarm it.

NormanF on July 23, 2012 at 3:11 pm

I understand that the amounts for living expenses are significant, but you would have to provide documentation to back up your expenses. If there were some payment that could not be backed up by a receipt or ledger entry, the grant-making institution should have questioned it. Also, the University of Colorado would not want to get the reputation for padding grant requests, so they would have presumably reviewed the request as well. This is odd.

Sawyer is proof; Liberalism is truly a mental disorder…….

Don Roos on July 23, 2012 at 1:30 pm

From what I have read elsewhere, Mr. Holmes had a drug abuse problem. That would explain his rapid decline and inability get anything more than an undergraduate degree in Neurology. HIs last known job was working part-time at McDonald’s. That sort of humiliation would be bound to bring out the psychotic in a borderline person.

Anthony Peter Senecal on July 23, 2012 at 1:34 pm

I’ve been asking that $20,000 question all weekend. Still trying to figure why a fellow from Texas now living in Colorado would have a vehicle licensed in Tennessee?

Kent on July 23, 2012 at 1:39 pm

I thought he was from California, not Texas.

Where did you get this info from?

ebayer on July 23, 2012 at 1:50 pm

Did he, in fact, have Tenn plates? If so, is the vehicle registered to Holmes, or to someone else. Was it stolen? Where? When? Lot of questions Diane Sawyer couldn’t be bothered to ask.

adam on July 23, 2012 at 2:43 pm

I’m also a California transplant to Colorado.

I presumed he moved here to take advantage of the climate as well as the lower costs of education in this state than in his native California, which is a king’s ransom today.

Trick question: in posting an ad on adult sex website, Holmes hinted “you’ll visit me in prison.” Was that innocent or a coded message? Another one of those things the mass media can’t be bothered to ask about.

NormanF on July 23, 2012 at 3:15 pm

Yep, money issue has bothered me from the start. Gov’t has made a habit of funding evildoers so I figured this was no different. My tax dollars funding terror again. It’s time to stop the gov’t from taking our money and giving it to murderers here and abroad.

This guy probably had the ability to nerve gas the whole the whole theater but it wasn’t about that… he wanted to be the villain/hero. Gun debate shouldn’t be tied in here FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!

Note that the shooting in the above article didn’t get as much press as the Batman shooting.

The difference between a gunfight and a massacre is just one gun, one gun in an intended victim’s hands.

smg45acp on July 23, 2012 at 2:07 pm

I have to point out a gross error on the poster of Diane Sawyer.

The liberals will call a business owner that just makes $80,000 or more a greedy selfish SOB.
And actually they’ll demonize a business owner that’s losing his butt and going out of business and having to lay off all his employees.
The simple fact that he/she tried to get rich is all they need to make them the scum of the earth in the liberals’ demented eyes.

smg45acp on July 23, 2012 at 2:13 pm

If the government won’t tell you where Barry Sotero got the money to travel overseas and live a jetsetters life without working, do not expect them to divulge where an unemployed gun shooter got $20K to splurge on explosives and such. Since motive seems the last thing the authorities wish to reveal, expect the usual cover up job.

Fred on July 23, 2012 at 2:14 pm

“But this is a guy who just massacred 12 people and wounded 58 more.”

Innocent until proven guilty. It’s not just a good idea, it’s the law.

“where did the unemployed Holmes get the money for $20,000 in weaponry”?

This is a great question that more people should be asking, possibly at the Congressional level.

Richard Eldridge on July 23, 2012 at 2:29 pm

Inmates run the prisons and asylums — recall that the jihadists can get trials delayed for “religious” purposes, and they insist on propre pedophile beard styles to continue to emulate their holy “profit”. Seems Sheriff Joe has the right idea on how to deal with the world’s most violent perpetrators. In any case, the totalitarians should not be allowed to dictate ANYTHING!

Otto Schaden on July 23, 2012 at 2:37 pm

Debbie, on the hair thing: Duh, like all salons in this country, the one inside the county jail is closed on Mondays. Plus, with cutbacks and all, the state colorist has to cover three counties, so she won’t be able to see him till Thursday.

Louie Louie on July 23, 2012 at 3:11 pm

The first order of any gumshoe police man is to follow the money. You do have to wonder where this unemployed douchebag got the money to finance his various weapons, ammo and the like. It also sheds light on the fact that complete and utter moronettes like Diane Sawyer prove time and time again how truly stupid the press is in this country. She is right up there on the retard scale with the likes of Katie Couric and Soledad O’Brien. Just to show you libtrolls who come on this site like roaches that I’m nonpartisan we have our female presstitute retards also. People like Gretchen Carlson and that token Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I can’t leave out the guys in this. You have those manly men like George Stephanopoulos and Matt Lauer. Wackos like Chris Matthew and Larry O’Donnell. And you have shameless camera whores like Bill O’loofah and Shepherd Smith. Is it just me or does his voice make you want to search him for his battery pack. Anyway don’t expect any of this “media” people to get to the bottom of this story.

Never understimate the inability to find a mate as a factor. We’ve all been “between relationships” at some point; I make no excuses for this sociopathic scumbag. But some people — those perceiving nothing going for them — are absolutely crushed when a member of the opposite sex issues a rejection slip. James Holmes almost certainly was one of them.

Ron on July 23, 2012 at 7:49 pm

The Joker’s hair has always been green. So if this guy dyed his hair to look like the Joker he is really color blind and illiterate. Seems he is just looking for an “insanity” defense but with all the prep work before he should get the death penalty.

diane sawyer is just another vile, radical, stupid, idiotic, self-serving, left-wing extremist, ultraliberal, LYING, hypocritical hack propagandist!! The truth is that maybe if Colorado allowed its law-abiding citizens to have concealed and carry weapons in that theater, maybe 12 people wouldn’t be dead, and 59 wouldn’t be critically injured, PEIOD!!!! He was from the San Diego area and the news that he had Tennessee plates was a mistake. Not sure what plates he did have though but they were not from Tennessee according to a followup article to the one stating they were from Tennessee.

Sarry doo on July 27, 2012 at 6:58 pm

Diane Sawyer’s biggest mistake was attempting to become a serious journalist. She either should have tried baking cookies or a strip cl—, oh wait, she’s not good looking enough for that. Well, the high point of her career as a “journalist” was that segment for 60 Minutes back in 534 B.C. where she noted that the chickens in the plant she was investigating were bathing in a “fecal soup.” She seemed to take great delight in repeating the phrase “fecal soup.”
