Alhamdillullah [praise allah]: Muhammad Ali’s Grandson, Jacob Wertheimer, Bar Mitzvahed – Sting Like a Maccabee

By Debbie Schlussel

I love stories like this, and I’m sure the Muslim world will be out to get this murtadd [“apostate”]. Technically, Jacob Wertheimer is not a Jew and needs to go through a conversion to be one. But he identifies as Jewish, chose Judaism over Islam, and just had his Bar Mitzvah. His father is Jewish, and his mother, Khaliah Ali-Wertheimer, daughter of boxer Muhammad Ali, left Islam (she’s an “apostate,” too). Muslims love to rub it in the world’s face every time a prominent non-Muslim, especially a Jew or Christian, converts–er “reverts,” in their phony, fantasist terminology–to Islam. Now, it’s their turn. And turnabout is sweet, in addition to being fair play. Wow, that must sting like a Maccabee.

Sting Like a Maccabee: allah NOT the “Greatest” to Newly Bar-Mitzvahed Muhammad Ali Grandson, Jacob Wertheimer

One of his grandchildren, Jacob Wertheimer, was recently bar mitzvahed. . . .

Jacob (the son of Khaliah Ali-Wertheimer and her husband, Spencer) turned thirteen on January 21 of this year. The bar mitzvah took place on April 28 at Congregation Rodeph Shalom in Philadelphia. One hundred fifty people were in attendance. Jacob’s grandfather was among them.

“I was born and raised as a Muslim,” Khaliah says. “But I’m not into organized religion. I’m more spiritual than religious. My husband is Jewish. No one put any pressure on Jacob to believe one way or another. He chose this on his own because he felt a kinship with Judaism and Jewish culture.”

“The ceremony was wonderful and very touching,” Khaliah continues. “The theme of Jacob’s presentation was inclusiveness and a celebration of diversity. My father was supportive in every way. He followed everything and looked at the Torah very closely. It meant a lot to Jacob that he was there.”

Khaliah says proudly that Jacob is an “A” student and a good athlete with Ivy League aspirations. She also notes that the bar mitzvah of Muhammad Ali’s grandson is “a wonderful tale of what’s coming in the world.”

The Wertheimers are not the only Muhammad Ali descendants to have a good vibe with the Jewish people. One of Ali’s other daughters is involved with scientific research in Israel and is a big fan of the country. I know this because I was once on a TV show with her, and she told me.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a Maccabee.

Okay now I am speechless.

I do note that the people who made Mohammed Ali successful and wealthy were Jews.

Muhammed Ali was successful because HE beat the best boxers of his day. He fought some really GOOD boxers. Many of them are still well-known.

    Sonny Liston
    Jerry Quarry
    Ernie Terrell
    Floyd Patterson
    Ken Norton
    Joe Frazier
    George Foreman
Jimmy Young (one of my favorites)
    Leon Spinks

I wonder if any of today’s heavyweights could beat these guys when they were in their prime.

Today, you’d be hard pressed to name any leading heavyweight boxer. Yet these guys that Ali beat (or lost to and subsequently beat) are all well known to my generation.

THEY were the ones who made Ali successful and I doubt any of them were Jewish.

Ali’s other daughter, Rasheda Ali, has been a spokesperson for BrainStorm Cell Therapeutics, an Israeli stem-cell research firm, which has been doing research to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease. Ali himself, of course, is one of those approximately one million people living with the disease.
Apparently, the company has had some significant progress. Many patients’ symptoms have greatly improved, and the level of degeneration has slowed

Ralph Adamo on June 4, 2012 at 3:58 pm

Mohammed Ali never associated his name with scum like Farrakhan-he belongs to another, larger Black Muslim sect that followed Warith Deen Muhammad, now deceased, who never used anti-Semitism as a facet of his religious preaching.
Ali’s close associate,Bundini Brown was married to a Jewish woman, and his son,Drew Brown who was a Navy pilot, used to be very public about it-unlike those shameful cowards Walter Moseley and Lani Guinier, who seem ashamed to reveal they each have a Jewish parent.
I have two grandaughters who have a Black mother and their dad,(my son)is Jewish background(me) and Hispanic(his mom).My grandaughters aren’t being raised Jewish as would be expected with a single Jewish grandparent. They are gorgeous and smart little girls( a strictly impartial opinion).LOL.

Joe on June 4, 2012 at 4:03 pm

Technically, he’s not Muslim either, unless one goes by the fraudulent and fantasist belief in Islam that everybody is born Muslim, but are laid astray by Infidels around them. Since his father ain’t a Muslim, neither is he.

Speaking of which, Mohammed Ali’s desire to dodge the Vietnam draft was a stupid reason to convert in the first place. He could simply have followed the example of thousands of Democrats and Republicans who did precisely that w/o converting. Like Bill Clinton, or Ted Nugent, or so many others.

That other daughter of Mohammed Ali, who works in Israel – is she also an ex-Muslim like her sister?

I posted this some time ago on the “Rusty Sneiderman” thread.

You said:

“I will be following this story, though if the killer does turn out to be Islamic, I bet we’ll never hear about it.

You know– it gets in the way of the “religion of peace” meme and all that.”

I said:

The killer turned out to be non-Islamic, and the case seems to have occurred because the victim’s wife was having an affair with the killer. We do not seem to have heard any more about it from you, or any of your supporters. Should you not apologise for jumping to conclusions which turned out to be completely wrong?

C J Walters on May 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm

No response from you or any of your followers. Do you ever admit to being wrong?

C J Walters on June 4, 2012 at 4:19 pm

CJ, are you so attention starved that you have to spam something that is utterly irrelvant to this article? Also, Debbie is not a cult leader, so what is the “follower” remark for? If you really hate this site so very much, why not move on? Debbie has not chained you to your chair, nor has anyone else here. Put down the bag of Cheetos and go outside,

    Worry01 on June 4, 2012 at 4:37 pm

You’re wrong, C J Walters. Debbie never said that a Muslim killed Russell “Rusty” Sneiderman. (The killer, apparently, is named Hemy Neuman.) In fact, she specifically cautioned that “I haven’t drawn any conclusions, and we may never know who murdered Rusty Sneiderman.” “It may turn out to be your average White dude hitman who has a thing for the Planet of the Ape Men.” There’s nothing to apologize over. http://www.debbieschlussel.com/29788/who-killed-rusty-sneiderman-check-out-the-sketch/ Get it?

However, as you will note regarding the murder of Ms. Alawadi in El Cajon, near San Diego, there have been no arrests. The El Cajon Police are apparently letting the murder(s) go free BECAUSE all evidence points to the conclusion that Alawadi was murdered as a Honor Killing, and the police tend to stay out that particular type of family-affair murder because they don’t want to “upset” the Muslim community, who believes those kinds of murders are best left alone.

You don’t hear anything from the media either about Alawadi, do you? They were very, very concerned about the murder when they naively thought that it could be some kind of “hate-crime against Muslims.” But now that the El Cajon Police at least acknowledge that that wasn’t the motive, the media says nothing. Absolute silence.

And the same from you too, for that matter. YOU owe this board an apology.

Ralph Adamo on June 4, 2012 at 4:42 pm

Also CJ, here is the article: http://www.debbieschlussel.com/29788/who-killed-rusty-sneiderman-check-out-the-sketch/

    it was from 2010.

    Your supposed post:

The killer turned out to be non-Islamic, and the case seems to have occurred because the victim’s wife was having an affair with the killer. We do not seem to have heard any more about it from you, or any of your supporters. Should you not apologise for jumping to conclusions which turned out to be completely wrong?

    C J Walters on May 24, 2012 at 6:30 pm

I also did not see a post from you dated 5-24-12 on that article. Nice made up comment. Also, even if you had, why would anyone even go back to look at comments from a 2010 article? Should you not apologize for not disclosing that the article you were referring to was from 2010 and that you apparently faked a recent post on that thread? In addition, Debbie based her comments on the information available at the time. The police sketch did portray someone whose facial hair and cap are normal look for ultra-observant Muslim males. Or, if we found one or a handful of slaveowners did not mistreat their slaves who did not mistreat their slaves in the Old South, would that make slave owners or slavery less odious and immoral? Using your one case makes the rule logic, it would. Islam has a long and demonstrable record of hatred for Jews, and this hatred is not veiled, but proclaimed loudly. Do you really need examples of this? Your email client would seize up and crash under the weight.

    Worry01 on June 4, 2012 at 5:04 pm

CJ, why the hell are you bringing up a story that’s two years old and NO longer relevant. CJ, you better improve on you’re critical thinking skills, because from what I’ve read in that article that Debbie wrote two years regarding Mr. Sneiderman’s killer, she NEVER said that a muslim murdered Russell Sneiderman. I didn’t remember reading anything like that, so you are assuming what DS said and therefore reading what you want to read and that’s NOT intelligent and smart of you CJ, and the reason why you assume Debbie said that a muslim killed the guy is because of the stupid, dumbass and illiterate trolls who commented there and did what you did, read what you want to read.

Here’s DS’s sentiment in that specific article bro, and here goes and I’ll slow down for you, “I haven’t drawn any conclusions, and we may never know who murdered Rusty Sneiderman”, that’s what she EXACTLY said CJ, and you’re the one who needs to apologize to her for taking her words out of context by doing what moronic leftists of you’re ilk do, “word-twisting”! But then again, you’re not going to comeback on this thread and apologize, so I’m not going to hold my breath & expect and apology for taking Ms. Schlussel’s words out of context.

“A nation is defined by its borders, language & culture!”

    Sean R. on June 4, 2012 at 8:30 pm

      Sean R,

I read DS’s original post again, and all of it except for the one line you quoted (which she must have put in to cover herself) strongly suggest she thought the killer was a muslim.
Indeed, this seems to have been the whole purpose of the thread. Perhaps you are the one who should read things more attentively.

      Worry01,

If you look back again, you will clearly see my post dated 24 May on the Sneidermann thread. It was not a fake as you claim.

DS_ROCKS! on June 4, 2012 at 4:58 pm

I’m very confused by this whole article. I’m sure I’m probably not the only one to admit. Most people in America think that if they have a Jewish parent that makes them Jewish too. If a person truly belongs to God, they would not choose a follower of another God. That being said, I believe it is up to God to say whom his children are. Alas! We have Abraham, who sought God’s heart in all matters. He was not Jewish and he was not Christian but we all look to him as a Patriarch.
One thing for sure though, I have told my daughter that, if she ever brought a Muslim to my door, I’d beat her butt and do worse to him. Christian or Jew, I cannot understand anyone taking up with one of them. It would be like denying God.

Kristy on June 4, 2012 at 5:25 pm

Judaism does not proselytize. Membership in the faith passes through the mother, and not the father. It is not a faith that seeks converts, but seeks only to preserve itself and its members. Converting to Judaism from the outside is very difficult and not encouraged.

    Worry01 on June 4, 2012 at 5:37 pm

Worry, you are correct. That is my understanding of Judaism and it suits my personality more than my Catholic religion. If I were truly to have an open choice, I would choose to be Jewish. Since I don’t (I can’t deny that Jesus is the son of God and God himself) I can’t but I have so much respect for the religion. At the end of the day, one has the freedom of choice to be what religion they were born into or not (at least here is USA). I am supposed to proselytize but I don’t like to. For that I take full responsibility that I am not living up to my faith and I am the one errant. I will be judged on that fairly but if I had my druthers…I’d rather not (proselytize…not NOT be judged), LOL! I like the Jewish way better! 😀

It’s just one of those things in life…if I had a true choice I would be different than what I am but I also see my responsibility to accept the doctrine of my religion and do all I can to abide God. It’s not so hard when I keep my eyes on the prize.

I know something crystal clear NOW though. Islam is NOT of the Lord. It’s satanic in my mind and it was all out there for me to see but DS made it all so easy to digest because she is bold enough to present the FACTS. I appreciate that!

Skunky on June 4, 2012 at 5:52 pm

To Worry01. Judaism is a religion. But if someone have Jewish father, grandfather, they still can be Jewish by blood. There is Judaism (religion) and Jewish by blood(nationality). For example I was born in USSR in 50-s. There were no Judaism in USSR at all. Most religion’s were forbidden. There was barely Christianity for old people.I never were religious and I didn’t know anything about Judaism, beside Pesah. But I felt myself Jewish, because all my family was Jewish (non of them were religious). When USSR were destroyed I decide to move to Israel. So I went to Sohnut and found, that everyone who had a Jewish blood (up to grandfather Jewish)and can prove that, became Israel citizen when they step in Israel land. I was 100% Jewish and could prove it, so I went to Israel taking my son and mother with me. So telling someone, who have just Jewish father not Jewish is not true. They maybe not Jewish by religion, but they still Jewish by blood and have right on Israel citizenship. There are more, than 50% Jewish people in Israel, who is not religious, but they still Jewish.

Rina on June 5, 2012 at 7:24 am

Sorry, Kristy, but it does seem that you are confused. You say that Abraham “was not Jewish and he was not Christian but we all look to him as a Patriarch.” The first part of your statement is not right. Abraham was the founder of Judaism, and that began with the Covenant. See Genesis 17:1-8, 15-22, and Hebrews 6:13–20.

Ralph Adamo on June 4, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Ralph, technically, Abraham was not Jewish. “Jews” is the name given originally to the descendants of Judah and then later on to all “Hebrews.” There was no formal Jewish religion in Abraham’s time. His father was a maker of idols but he had a vision of the ONE and chose to follow him. There was not written Torah then but there was a code of morality from Hashem’s covenant with Noah that righteous people chose to follow along with putting aside idolatry and pantheism. We consider the start of the “Jewish” or more correctly Israelite Nation from the Giving of Torah at Sinai, even tho we see Abraham as our First Father and along with his son and grandson, our Patriarchs. This is because Hashem made a specific covenant with him to form a great nation out of his progeny. Deut. 13:3ff. What too many people forget is HE also promised Abraham that Ishmael would be the father of 12 great nations and we’ve been dealing with the sibling rivalry ever since.

Italkit on June 5, 2012 at 12:24 pm

    Hi Kristy
From what I understand…is that the Jews hold the Woman “Mother” as sacred, if she is a Jew, then her off spring are also considered Jewish…I have several Jewish friends who also practice this and are just this past three years delving into the politics of the Jewish families and their customs…Mind you, I’m not learned and are just now understanding their customs.

Jeffrey Hardin on June 5, 2012 at 9:46 am

Jeffrey, I don’t know where you’re doing your delving. We don’t have “politics” or even customs in our families. Motherhood is considered a sacred duty but women are women. We don’t sanctify people, G-d forbid. This is not as simple as you are trying to make it. Torah teaches respect for ALL people, men and women. Human life is held above all else in sanctity but we don’t, as I said, sanctify individuals in the sense of making saints out of them, ordinarily. Maybe an occasional Rabbi comes to be recognized as an extraordinary individual in terms of learning and holy living but other than that… Torah also teaches we are to RESPECT our parents and the Halacha (oral law) teaches us what that means. They may be awful people but if they are not dangerous, we are forbidden to speak ill of them to anyone. Therapy is allowed but it’s a delicate situation, preferable to go to a therapist versed in halacha who can steer us away from evil speech if we veer to close.
There are certain other “rules” in Halacha as to certain aspects of family life. These mainly have to do with sexual purity and modesty. Then there are also the concepts that have found their way into Christianity such as the Husband being the head of the family but really BOTH husband and wife are to share responsibility for the well being of the family, each in his/her own sphere of “expertise.” These are not carved in stone, heheheh, but can change with circumstances. It is considered an abomination for a man to not labor with his hands or in a profession to support a family if he is able. This notion of learning all day is recent and is not acceptable to all Jews. Some of the Sephardi here have gotten into that unfortunate Yeshiva mentality but for the most part, Sephardi Jews hold to the idea that able bodied men need to provide their own and their family’s living. However, men and women have always worked together to provide enough income for the family and it is only recently that a “middle class” woman would not have at least one servant, regardless of where she lives. This is true for non-Jews too. Women have always worked very hard tending both the family and helping with the family business if possible. Leisure during the week is a Gentile, not to say Pagan, concept.
So, Jeffrey, our families are much the same as families anywhere who have a belief in G-d and the dignity of humankind. The specific rules are minor and anything like lighting candles is not limited to family, indeed all Jews are supposed to light candles on Shabbat and holidays, even a man alone.
I don’t know if I addressed your questions but as I understood your comment, I tried my best. You might want to read some of the books by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin about being Jewish.

Italkit on June 6, 2012 at 2:23 am

Oh, and regarding the article. Of course growing up in the 70’s (pre-teen) my family embraced Ali and my Dad even hung up an Ali print called “The Greatest”. Since then, I learned how nasty he was to Joe Frazier and he is also blamed for not saving the life of Malcolm X (X’s widow believed that Ali could have saved his life but Ali had no interest)…I’m just stating that…I have no opinion on he and Malcolm X…I’d need to know more to have one.

I am just stating those two things because it goes against the public persona of Muhammed Ali. I never knew much of him (other than his 70’s idolization by Americans) and I remember that Robin Quivers was influenced by him (not that I like her because I don’t) when I read her book. Anyway, one looks at him differently after all that and what I have learned of Islam.

Skunky on June 4, 2012 at 6:01 pm

Hmmm, my husband’s paternal grandmother was a Wertheimer. They were a prominent family, including many rabbis, from Frankfurt am Main. Somehow, this brings to mind Joe Lewis’ victory over Max Schmeling with an added twist. heheheh

Italkit on June 4, 2012 at 6:57 pm

It’s possible that some of the Wertheimers in the United States may be related to that Wertheimer family that created the mega-brand House of Chanel. Pierre Wertheimer was the founder, and the company had been run by Alain and Gerard Wertheimer.

As I pointed out in another of Debbie’s article on Coco Chanel (see link below), the Wertheimers actually built and developed the business that bears Coco Chanel’s name, even though many people think that she started the business. Chanel would have been nothing if not for the Wertheimers. Although Debbie’s article doesn’t mention the Wertheimers, my posts cover the story pretty much.

Back to the Ali grandson part of the story – one does not “get bar mitzvahed,” one BECOMES a bar mitzvah; and since when does one become a bar mitzvah when not actually Jewish? Is this a reform congregation that recognizes patrilineal lineage?

Sanford D. Horn on June 4, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Many years ago, I was once invited to attend a service at that same synogogue, Congregation Rodeph Shalom in center city, Philadelphia. I’d say it was a Reform synogogue because many of the attendees did not wear a yalmulke, and I doubt things have changed there.

    Hello Sanford!

My speculation is that this is a Reform Synagogue.

I’m not sure that matters to me. I have posted further comments relative to your post below.

I cannot think of this fact of Ali’s grandson being Jewish (and having his bar mitzvah) without bringing up a skit on a one-off 1979 pilot called “The T.V. Show” with Rob Reiner, Billy Crystal, and the three individuals who later comprised Spinal Tap (indeed, it was on that show that that faux group made its first appearance). It was within this program that a parody of Tom Snyder’s “Tomorrow” show appeared, with Harry Shearer as Snyder and Crystal as Ali – who, in that sketch, announced he was converting to Judaism and changing his name to “Izzy Iskowitz.” Anybody who frequents this site who also is into old-time show business will recognize that name (Izzy Iskowitz) as the birth name of the late entertainer Eddie Cantor.

Skunky, I’m not getting you. Religion is one of the things that one can change – unlike ethnicity, gender, et al. I am a Hindu and believe in Hindu deities, but if I didn’t, I’d have switched to something else that I did believe in.

Some religions do make it hard to enter. From what I understand, it’s impossible to convert to Zoroastrianism, and I’ve heard similarly that marriage is the only way to convert into Sikhism (not sure about that, though). However, if someone does prefer a religion other than one’s own, it would seem that the logical thing to do – assuming that the person is not an agnostic – is to switch to it, unless of course, the religion in question has high entry barriers.

Infidel on June 5, 2012 at 7:08 am

We agree Infidel but it is personal for me. Can’t deny Jesus (personally) and I also see the Jewish way of thinking so it’s not a match. Someone else who thinks like me (to degrees) may be able to switch and could but I couldn’t. Just a personal thing.

Skunky on June 5, 2012 at 10:37 am

The problem with Ali was he encouraged other to join the Black Muslims. He joined the Black Muslims long before he was drafted.

madman on June 5, 2012 at 10:54 am

Infidel, Skunky is correct. If she were to request conversion to Judaism, she would be asked to deny Jesus. This is the one thing that is incompatible with Judaism and her beliefs. This is because Judaism sees Christianity as idolatrous and polytheistic for saying Jesus is the Son of G-d and is actually G-d. I went to Catholic school and I know that the polytheistic part is wrong but the divinity part isn’t. I comment Skunky for holding to THE central tenet of true Christian belief.
Skunky, have you looked at Messianic Judaism? I might be considered a traitor for saying that but I think the system has a place for people like you. You get to believe in Jesus wholeheartedly but yet you get to worship in a wholly Jewish way and if you choose to keep the Laws like Shabbat and Kosher, you may. I don’t see it as deceptive because they have disavowed the essentially So. Baptist Jews for Jesus movement.

Italkit on June 5, 2012 at 12:33 pm

Dear Debbie:

Nobody “just had his Bar Mitzvah” or was “bar mitzvahed”.

Someone “received his Bar Mitzvah”. That was one of my first lessens of Judaism taught to me via the internet somewhere around 1988 or so. You are more disciplined in your practice of traditional Judaism than me. I normally don’t “correct you” on terminology, but I think you would like your readers to know the correct description that articulates the event.

Muhammed Ali (aka “the champ”) was an enigma. He changed in many ways throughout his life and never really stayed the same as before. He was great at speaking his mind, but his mind always changed. “Float like a butterfly; sting like a bee”. Now he’s Christian. Now’s he’s not. Now he’s Nation of Islam; now he’s not. Now he’s in a Synagogue watching is grandson receive his Bar Mitzvah.

Long before this story, Muhammed Ali’s kids started displaying his characteristic rebelliousness. The most famous was when his daughter Laila participated in women’s boxing. The champ made his opinion known that he didn’t think this was a career path for a “proper Muslim woman”. All other things being equal, he didn’t make a huge public stink about it. One wonders if perhaps he took some private personal pride that was “better left unsaid”.

I’m not a big fan of Jews who are “of Jewish ancestry” just because their maternal blood lines. We know of too many anti-Semites who use that as a license. In my view, Jacob Wertheimer is a Jew. He has received his Bar Mitzvah and FREELY pledged allegiance to the Creator to follow his Mitzvot is a Jew. Unless he openly rejects Hashem’s Mitzvot, he remains a Jew.

I realize this doesn’t fit the centuries’ old definition according to Jewish Law. However, when you compare him to Norman Finkelstein et al… I mean… Come on! Which one would you embrace as a Jew?

This article implies the answer to my question.

Judaism isn’t in our DNA. It’s not in our refrigerator or dish cupboards. It’s not in a Synagogue filled with guilt for the suffering of Arabs that is frequently blamed on the Jewish State. Judaism in our hearts. It is in the belief of ONE Creator who gave us Mitzvot which we accept and embrace whether or not we were brought up with (or obtained by other means) the strict discipline to practice each and every one of them.

“It is a religion, and it is a peoplehood, and it is a civilization, and it is a faith, and it is a memory; it is a world of thought and of spirit and of action and it cannot be restrictively defined.” – Abba Eban

Very truly yours,

Running down people who are of Jewish background like myself but don’t follow a specific religion is ignorant. It’s noot like I try to hide it or change my name-it was on my dogtags in the service,so I’d be more critical of people who go out of their way to deny any Jewish heritage.
My wife was raised catholic and never felt comfortable as one.She became a Protestant and seems to be very happy with that-FWIW we never had a religious wedding-still going strong after 41 years. Her family was completely unconcerned with her change of religion. Not a word was said.
Sometimes I think Jews get too overwrought about the whole identity thing.
Neither my son nor daughter were raised Jewish, but my son will gladly flatten anyone running down Jews.

Joe on June 5, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Clearly you don’t understand what I wrote, Joe. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that you demonstrated my point with your response.

      Thank you,

Sorry, TINSC, a boy doesn’t receive his BAr Mitzva either. He BECOMES a Bar MItzva. It means Son of the Covenant so upon becoming 13 he becomes a SON of the Torah.

And um, sorry again, Jewishness is indeed in our DNA. http://www.haaretz.com/jewish-world/dna-links-prove-jews-are-a-race-says-genetics-expert-1.428664

The myth it is not was started mainly due to the Holocaust. But denying reality never works. There are many other studies that show Jews from all over the world have closer DNA matches than other ethnicities and even tho we were dispersed among the Nations and of course there was some mixing, we match each other better than we do those ethnicities. Even tho I’m Mediterranean/Mizrachi/Sephardi, my DNA will match Debbie’s Polish Ashkenazi more closely than she would a Gentile Pole.

I don’t know what these web sites you are learning from are but please be careful out there. There are many false teachers in all streams and not all teachers who are “kosher” within their own stream are Orthodox. Reform for example is extremely different and may indeed use the term “receive a Bar MItzva” but it is still incorrect.

Muhammed Ali will always be a traitor to the United States. Leaders of the past such as Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Jackson would have had him hung and shot.
Lincoln would have deported him the way he deported Clementine Vallandingham.
While the working man who serves the United States, gets dumped ona
Ali can hide behind leftist and make money, the working man gets screwed.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collaboration_with_the_Axis_Powers_during_World_War_II#Poland

Unlike in most European countries occupied by Nazi Germany — where the Germans sought and found true collaborators among the locals — in occupied Poland there was no official collaboration either at the political or at the economic level.[43][44] Poland also never officially surrendered to the Germans.[45] Under German occupation, the Polish army continued to fight underground, as Armia Krajowa and forest partisans – Le?ni. The Polish resistance movement in World War II in German-occupied Poland was the largest resistance movement in all of occupied Europe.[46] As a result, Polish citizens were unlikely to be given positions of any significant authority.[43][44] The vast majority of the pre-war citizenry collaborating with the Nazis was the German minority in Poland which was offered one of several possible grades of the German citizenship.[47] In 1939, before the German invasion of Poland, 800,000 people declared themselves as members of the German minority in Poland mostly in Pomerania and Western Silesia. During the war there were about 3 million former Polish citizens of German origin who signed the official list of Volksdeutsche.[44] People who became Volksdeutsche were treated by Poles with special contempt, and the fact of them having signed the Volksliste constituted high treason according to the Polish underground law.

There is a general consensus among historians that there was very little collaboration with the Nazis among the Polish nation as a whole, compared to other German-occupied countries.[43][44][48] Depending on a definition of collaboration (and of a Polish citizen, based on ethnicity and minority status), scholars estimate number of “Polish collaborators” at around several thousand in a population of about 35 million (that number is supported by the Israeli War Crimes Commission).[49] The estimate is based primarily on the number of death sentences for treason by the Special Courts of the Polish Underground State. Some estimates are higher, counting in all members of the German minority in Poland and any former Polish citizens declaring their German ethnicity (Volksdeutsche), as well as conscripted members of the Blue Police, low-ranking Polish bureaucrats employed in German occupational administration, and even workers in forced labor camps (ex. Zivilarbeiter and Baudienst). Most of the Blue Police were forcibly drafted into service; nevertheless, a significant number acted as spies for Polish resistance movement Armia Krajowa.[48] John Connelly quoted a Polish historian (Leszek Gondek) calling the phenomenon of Polish collaboration “marginal” and wrote that “only relatively small percentage of Polish population engaged in activities that may be described as collaboration when seen against the backdrop of European and world history”.[48]

The anti-Jewish actions of szmalcownicy were very harmful to the Polish Jews as well as the gentile Poles aiding them. Anti-Jewish collaboration of Poles was particularly widespread and effective in the rural areas.[citation needed] It is estimated that some 200 thousand hiding Jews died in 1942-1945 in direct result of this collaboration.[citation needed] The collaboration by some Polish Jews, who belonged to ?agiew, was also harmful to both Jewish and ethnic Polish Underground.

The Polish Secret State considered szmalcownictwo an act of collaboration with the German occupiers. The Armia Krajowa (Home Army) punished it with the death sentence as a criminal act of treason.[3] Blackmailers had been sentenced to death by the Special Courts of the Polish Underground for crimes against Polish citizens. The Polski Komitet Wyzwolenia Narodowego (Polish Committee of National Liberation) by its decree of August 31, 1944 also condemned this act as collaboration with Nazi Germany. This decree is still a valid law in Poland, and any person who committed an act of szmalcownictwo during the war faces life imprisonment. After the war, there were very few trials as most witnesses had already died or left the country.

Italkit:

You too have failed to read my post carefully. Also, you’re not sorry. Don’t lie. Just say “I disagree” and that is an accurate statement. Expressing faux remorse is not necessary. You disagree with my post and I respect that. Don’t apologize unless you write something you regret.

Ha’Aretz is a discredited source of news. I won’t bother reading your link. Nuff said.

Like Joe, clearly you don’t understand what I wrote. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you too demonstrated my point with your response.

Lastly, your terminology for “bar mitzvahed” sounds correct, but does not refute my terminology. Seems like we’re splitting hairs. That is all I shall say on the matter.

Thank you for posting your opinion.

Sincerely,

Beautiful that Jacob Wertheimer, the grandson of Muhammad Ali, identifies with Judaism, but he is not Jewish according to halakha unless he converts…I pray that he will make a halakhic conversion one day, and fully come into the fold of Klal Israel…IYH, Inshallah, G-dwilling…

Jewish law, the law of Torah (halakha), and no other law, determines who is a Jew…just as Islamic law, and no other law, determines who is Muslim…

Avraham Aveinu is the Patriarch of the Jewish people, of the nation of Israel, and was chosen by G-d to be the “father of a multitude of nations”, and the Convenant established between G-d and the Jewish people, the nation of Israel, began with him (and was finalized at Har (Mount) Sinai):

??????????? ?????? ???????? ?????, ???????????? ????????; ??????????, ??????? ???????.

??????????? ???-????????? ??????? ?????????, ?????? ???????? ????????? ?????????–???????? ??????: ???????? ???? ?????????, ???????????? ?????????.

“Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee.

And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

And I will establish My covenant between Me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.”
