I agree everything you wrote here. Rich Lowry pushed for the government bailout of the banks in 2008 and he’s been as much of a fraud on capitalism as on anything else.

And under his stewardship, he ran a once great conservative publication straight into the ground. Are there any intelligent conservatives left?

Andrew McCarthy is another big NR contributor who adamantly refuses to discuss Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan, despite having written a book about Muslim Brotherhood infiltration. Got to wonder why Mark Steyn still posts there, as well.

The McLaughlin group has always been pro-Arab. They have had entire programs devoted to “forward-thinking” Arab economic ‘advancement’. Although from time to time half-hearted supporters of Israel have been on their panel, they are infrequent and outnumbered.

During the early days of the Cold War, conservatives had principles. Can anyone imagine Whittaker Chambers deciding that Communists weren’t really bad after all? The NR knew who our enemies were, and acted accordingly.

But the ‘conservative’ publications like NR, Weekly Standard and Commentary have currently failed one litmus test after another, Nothing good will come out of this establishment. Today reminds me a little of the late 40s, when people like Lionel Trilling and Louis Hartz decreed that liberalism was the only vital intellectual tradition in American. Conservatives were scattered and in disarray. But lo and behold, within a short period of time, Joe McCarthy shook things up for a while, and during that era, NR was founded. The revitalization of conservatism emerged from outside the then-conservative establishment.

That was one of the reasons there was so much criticism of McCarthy from other so-called conservatives at the time — they claimed that they were the real anti-communists, and that McCarthy was an interloper, a bull in a China shop.

Just like then, a real conservative movement, if it emerges now, will have to develop from outside the current bureaucratic establishment.

Problem is that during the Cold War, Conservatives looked @ Jihadis as religious allies against Atheistic Communism, and that has yet to change, since a lot of their learning curves are flat.

That brings up the interesting question about Israel. However, during the Cold War, the biggest enemies of Israel were countries w/ pro-Soviet regimes, like Nasser’s Egypt, Assad’s Syria, Arafat’s PLO, Saddam’s Iraq and Gadaffi’s Libya. Hence, it was possible for Conservatives to be both pro-Israel and pro-Islamic. However, after the Cold War, it became more difficult, and so too many, if not most Conservatives, went to where the cash was – the various sheikhs like Alwadeed bin Talal and so on.

The era when the GOP was automatically the right party on security is long gone. By at least 20 years.

It is amazing how much garbage passes itself off as conservative these days. There are many David Brocks and Arianna Huffingtons out there who are willing to take you for a ride before jumping definitively to the other side. From what Ann Coulter has said lately, I suspect that she is the next one who will be jumping ship for a soft landing in “Leftist World”. She will milk the shock value of her apparent transformation to the hilt, like Brock and Huffington did in their day, before sinking into obscurity. If her antics before did not rouse suspicion beforehand, her slobbering adoration of Governor Chris Christie(Liberal Republican)should have. The main point is that conservatives are often to quick to over look some very gross flaws and embrace people who claim to be conservative. This overly welcoming attitude to those who have flash and dash has predictable consequences.

I’m ashamed to say I actually watched the show this weekend.
I don’t do it regularly, I just happened to be flipping channels and started watching.
The guests were falling all over themselves to try and prove that they weren’t racists.
And throwing Zimmerman under the bus before hardly any facts were known was their way of showing the world they love the black race.

The most disgusting part was when the liberal black chick said that this may be this generations Emmit Till moment.
Till was dragged from his Uncles house at night, beaten, strangled and throw in a river.
There is no comparison.
Till’s only “crime” was whistling at a white woman.
This really cheapened the tragedy of the Till murder and to use his death to try and score some cheap political points was foul and disgusting in the utmost.

This is sad phenomenon that has infected the entire conservative movement – conservatives have been branded by pop culture (read: progressive media) as being “racist”, so conservatives are running scared from being branded as such and little or no thoughtful discussion can take place on any issue that even remotely involves race, religion or gender. The term “fiscal conservative – social liberal” was the beginning of the end.

His mother has turned into the latest race hustler. Long after the evidence is all out, and Zimmerman is shown to be the real victim, Sharpton, Jesse, and Trayvon’s Mom will be touring around stirring up crowds. All the while, darlings of the Justice Department, the Black Panthers, have put a contract on Zimmerman’s head. How is that a case for civil rights investigation, hey, Eric?

This is all going to backfire horribly for the Dems. How long before the Obama campaign is desperately calling for Sharpton and Co. to call off dogs. Right now, Obama has allied himself firmly with the openly murderous Black Panthers. That’s not a great election strategy when you’re trying to win back soccer moms in suburban Philly.

Where are the Hispanic leaders? Will they sell Zimmerman down the river in order to help The One’s reelection?

Oh, and Rich Lowery and Mitt Romney are right there cheering for Zimmerman to be lynched.

And, a current picture of Trayvon being on the net, why do they hold up four-year-old stuff?

Remember the Dylan lament for Medgar Evers and his killer? “Only a pawn in their game”. Treyvon was no Medgar Evers, and Zimmerman was not lying in wait for him with gun drawn.
Both actors are guilty, one for provocation, one for physical retaliation against the provocation which earned him a bullet.
The game players are you and me for watching the media whores play out this scenario to their own advantage.

I haven’t watched the “McLaughlin Group” in a long time. So far here I have watched only those segments that Debbie has referred to concerning Rich Lowry’s comments and once again Debbie is spot on. I might watch the whole thing later on to see if I have any further comment. Other than that, I see no reason for me to resume watching the show.
