My NHK Japan Interview on Islam in America

By Debbie Schlussel

I just got back from doing a long interview with NHK, Japan’s largest and most prominent television network.  The interview was for an NHK documentary on Islam in the U.S., which will air in September around the time of the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

Debbie Does Islam on NHK

The interview was extra long because the reporter does not speak English.  He gave his questions to the producer, who then had to transcribe and repeat back to him all of my typically long answers.

In the initial request for my appearance, the NHK people wrote:

We’d be so honored if you could give us an on-camera interview to discuss your contribution in the anti-terrorism effort. You’re one of the best known and the most influential experts in Islamic terrorism in the country and we’d very much like to ask your opinions and analysis of what’s happening in the American society to fight against Islamic terrorism.

That’s nice, and I appreciate the description, but it will be interesting to see how the final product turns out, as the NHK people have been in the area for a while filming this thing.  I’ll let you know if I can get a copy. Stay tuned.

I also will be really interested to see what conclusions they come up with after they presumably interview an “opposing” POV (CAIR rep or some BS.)

“and we’d very much like to ask your opinions and analysis of what’s happening in the American society to fight against Islamic terrorism.”

Could have been a quick interview. Your response should have been “not much”.

Well, since NHK isn’t shown in America, how are you going to know how the interview turned out?

I look forward to the interview…and I hope NHK does not mess it up.

If they honour you as they ought to (based on your work, knowledge and desire to get the truth out), they will know that for their interview, they got the BEST.

It will be interesting to see if they internalize the horrific truths regarding Islam. Before they present to the public, I hope they are wise enough to come back to you with any follow up questions they might develop. Thank you for your work educating about the true habits, nature and doctrines of Islam to this present day.

Debbie, let’s hope NHK quotes all of your words in exact context, and not take it out of context like what happend on this blog five months ago regarding the Lara Logan incident, in which all hell broke lose. We all remember what happend on this blog, you had far-left, far-right and muslim posters completely misquoting what DS wrote and used all sorts of ad hominiems, death threats, anti-semitism (they used anti-semitism against Debbie, because she’s a jewish lady), etc. And I am NOT going to hold my breath and wait for an apology for all of those wingnut posters (both far-right, far-left, and islamic posters) to apologize to Debbie and us for misquoting her and taking her words out of context. I hope NHK doesn’t do anything terrible like that to you DS in that interview about the true islam.

Congratulations on your interview. Debbie. I agree especially with what Skunky and Sean R. said.

If there’s a chance you can get a transcript in english and post it here, I’d love to read it.

Is islam a major problem in Japan too, like France, Sweden, England, etc.?
Of course I know it’s a worldwide problem but I’m curious, why the interview? Just wondering if it’s something other than the 9/11 event.

I live in Japan, and will keep my eyes open for the show. I can record it, too. I don’t know much about getting you the recording, but if I have time, I’ll try to get the content put into English for you, Debbie.

I’m surprised there was no mention of any japanese anime.

Oh…it’s a news channel.

I tip my hat to the Japanese television network for producing the piece. I hope to see the piece subtitled in English. I hope oyur participation brings out some good information people really need to be aware of.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product posted here. Just hope they don’t mess it up or become politically correct. Shabbat shalom to one brave lady.

Hey Debbie, not to rain on your parade, but the image you took for NHK is from an anime called “Welcome To The NHK”, the Japanese in the picture means “Japanese Hikiomori Association.” The NHK you meant is “Nippon H?s? Ky?kai.” Might want to fix that before someone else who’s cultured like me thinks you’re a uneducated jobless leech (which is what a Hikikomori is)

Just sayin…
