VIDEO – Sad: America’s Recurring National “Hero”

By Debbie Schlussel

I thought this guy’s 15 minutes of nutjobism were nearly up.  But I was wrong.  And the reaction he gets from this audience, most of whom aren’t old enough to remember when he was sane, is disheartening.  America’s heroes are the Kardashians and this guy.  So sad. A standing ovation for him? Really? I bet he makes hundreds of thousands from this merchandise. That’s America . . . and America’s future. Who needs Bin Laden?

I must say, this is not generally the mood that is exhibited by most guys less than a couple of weeks after child protective services arrived at the door, and confiscated their offspring. That “kiss a guy on the lips” business isn’t even particularly original celebrity melt-down behavior. You know a person has hit rock bottom when he feels a sudden compulsion to start doing Andy Dick’s schtick.

I just hope there isn’t as big a brouhaha when they discover this guy’s drug-infested corpse the way there was with Anna Nicole Smith’s. I can’t even tell you about anything else that was going on in the world during the first two months of 2007. You’d turn on a radio or a TV, look at a newspaper or magazine, and that’s all there was.

Me thinks Ms. Schlussel had a bad day today and she is cranky.

Here baby, let me give you a make believe, virtual really hug.

Dianne & Brian on March 22, 2011 at 7:59 pm

Actually, that was supposed to be a virtual reality hug. But we’e working with that virtual really thingy, too.

Debbie, I don’t mean to be off topic on this thread/article, but I read an article from the “jpost” (Jerusalem Post) that Sarah Palin backs Israel. Debbie, what’s your opinion and viewpoints on Palin backing Israel, I know your not a fan of hers (I to am a little skeptical on Palin) and your kinda cynical on her, but what’s your opinion on her supporting Israel?

Sean. I just heard you on Savage. Great job! You rock! 😀

Skunky on March 22, 2011 at 8:30 pm

Actually Skunky, that Sean called from Austin, Texas, I happend to live in New York, but Sean who called Savage this evening was excellent. It’s ok if assumed that was me, but it wasn’t, and that guy, “Sean” sorta reminds me of myself, and that’s why I keep my own political thinking to myself.

“A nation is defined by it’s borders, language & culture!”

Sean R. on March 22, 2011 at 8:54 pm

Good to see some mentions of Michael Savage here.

And if Debbie is having a bad day, then I’d be more than happy to take her out on a nice date.

Besides that, I’m also tired of hearing about Charlie Sheen. Another dead moon circus lemmure being forced down my throat everyday by the media.

Squirrel3D on March 22, 2011 at 9:22 pm

Sad to say, but, Charlie seems pretty content with himself. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the prediction of ‘Irving on March 22, 2011 at 7:08 pm’ came true, the drug-infested corpse and all.

(and BTW Irving, I hate Andy Dick(weed) with a passion, so yeah, imitating him is definitely rock bottom!)

theShadow on March 23, 2011 at 12:56 am

It also seems quite evident that Charlie Sheen’s brain has been all but fried by all the years of drug (ab)use, regardless of whether he’s still on drugs or not. But yes, I’d agree we’re ALL tired of hearing of this train wreck. Remember, it is the entertainment-media complex that keeps promoting him – a complex that has been interconnected for years because of the mergers of television networks (and their news divisions) with entertainment companies. And as I heard someone say, when you merge news and entertainment together (as has been going on for the last several years), you end up with neither.

The problem with this country is that the majority of nitwits would rather listen to Charlie Sheen than D.S. or Michael Savage. That means they will believe anything and flock to any lowlife. As a result we have Obama leading us to ruin. Is it any wonder that students in this country rank lower than many third world countries scholastically.

Deb:

Do you have any thoughts on Gene Simmons’ visit to Israel?

There is NO Santa Claus on March 23, 2011 at 10:21 am

Debbie, of course you are right. Our nation is in serious decline with these knuckleheads being pop culture heroes. And, they aren’t as bad as the Jersey Shore supreme idiots.

But, in one way I’m glad to see Sheen’s act. Not giving him a bit of credit, but it’s great to see a celeb honestly showing what is hidden by the E!TVs/Oprah/Access Hollywood/etc. celeb butt kissing slobber fests.

I’m glad to see Sheen’s act because it’s showing the true face of celebrity. My feeling is 99% of celebs are exactly like Sheen, but most have smart enough agents/management to keep it hidden while Oprah and the other useful idiots show the shiny, fake veneer.

With technology, thinking for yourself is becoming a lost art. We don’t talk in person, we “talk” on Facebook. We text. We don’t even read books anymore, we have reading devices that are making books and bookstores obsolete.

It’s still amazing the best generation in U.S. history had not TVs, phones, and computers. With all our technological advances, we’ve never produced another George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, or Ben Franklin who came from one generation.

Jeff_W on March 23, 2011 at 10:26 am

Jeff, nicely said. I agree with you on both aspects of your opinion.

CS is a complete zero, but I like as you said how he is showing the seamy underbelly. Also, I enjoy how he can tell the establishment FU. But really, other than those two things, I have utter disdain for him. He is very effed up, has ZERO respect for woman and is a spoiled brat.

LOL on Gene Simmons. I get a kick out of him (his interview with “Fresh Air’s” Terry Gross is one of my all-time favourites) because he is overly confident. I would HATE it if he looked like Brad Pitt. That he doesn’t makes it amusing for me. That said, I hate how he also does not respect women. He is very money savvy and is pro-Israel.

Skunky on March 23, 2011 at 11:49 am

It’s interesting, and sad, who people in this country idolize. The Sheen’s, Lohan’s, Vick’s, Chris Brown’s, etc etc. These people make money off the lumpen. Go ahead, keep supporting these useless specimens of humanity. Oh, and politicians absolutely love stupid people who don’t think for themselves too.

Barry on March 23, 2011 at 12:03 pm

Charlie Sheen – America’s favorite retard.

Jonathan Grant on March 23, 2011 at 12:29 pm

As for Sheen, f*** puppet Kardashwhatever, and all the other f*** puppets mentioned above:
WHO.
CARES?

Not Ovenready on March 23, 2011 at 12:31 pm

Unfortunately I still see the young kid from Platoon and Wall St. and can’t help but feel the sadness of losing another great actor. His father who is one of the classiest men on earth must be reeling in anguish over the lost of his son. All I can say is like Fred Sanford used to say “Move over Elizabeth, Charlie is coming to join you honey.”

Anthony on March 23, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Bleccccch. Martin Sheen one of the classiest men on earth?

Puhleeeeeeeeeeze. Martin Sheen is one of the biggest liberal jerks on earth. I’d hang with Charile any day over Martin Sheen.
