Hey, Another Reason NOT to Shop @ Abercrombie & Fitch

By Debbie Schlussel

Remember when teen-targeted clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch had a catalog featuring naked models simulating sex and an article from porn star Jenna Jameson instructing kids how to give oral sex?  Well, now, there’s another reason not to shop A&F:  the stores employ illegal aliens and just don’t care about checking immigration status.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Detroit said Tuesday it had levied one of its largest fines — $1 million — against clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch for violations of federal immigration law at its Michigan stores.

The New Albany, Ohio-based retailer did not verify the employment eligibility of its workers and lacked documentation, said Khaalid Walls, spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). . . .

“This is probably the largest fine for ICE in Michigan to date,” Walls said. “The message here really is we want employers to know that their employee documentation is just as important to the federal government as their financial records.” . . .

Walls said the government had a tip that there were “severe deficiencies with their documents.”

And since the stores cited were all in Michigan, how many of the illegal aliens it employed were Muslim?

Just askin’. And the answer is probably: plenty.

This disgusting store is quite brazen. I remember thinking they were going to be cowed when the controversy first was spot-lighted…that has to be over a decade ago. I never knew about the Jenna Jameson bent…they are quite brazen, for sure.

Too bad parents today are so clueless…if they were more informed, perhaps it would have bleed this nasty store of funds. Yet, they are still going strong today.

The clothes are ugly…hense the naked models. I’d rather wear crap from Hot Topic and look cool than overpriced threads like A&F.

I wouldn’t buy from Abercrombie & Fitch just because I don’t want to be wasting my hard-earned money for cheap crap.

That and the fact that I don’t have much hard earned money to begin with.

what?

a major retailer employing illegals?

who’da thunked it?

no one will admit it, but it works like this:

the employer hires illegal immigrants intentionally, knowing it will only ever have to pay minimum wage and no benefits. in return it gets compliant, malleable workers who will submit to horrible schedules and horrible treatment that they will never have to promote or give raises to.

at the same time, employers scream that natives “don’t want these jobs,” “won’t work these jobs,” “americans don’t want to do an honest days work,” etc.

Baloney!

What natives won’t put up with are substandard working conditions, constant harassment, impossible workloads, and anything less than prevailing wages.

A lot of employers just want to run sweatshops. On top of that, they expect and demand loyalty from their workers but are not willing to do the same in return.

That’s not to say there aren’t lazy workers out there, there are.

But that doesn’t give employers the right to break the law.

Paradoxically, companies spend billions on upgrading their physical plants to make themselves more productive but they are unwilling to spend any money on employee training or education.

For the illegal immigrant/muslim part, working for minimum wage is perfectly acceptable. They gladly live in conditions natives would never tolerate…2-3 (or more) families live in single family dwellings. Add to this government benefits which are readily available and exploited since they are being paid a low wage and to many immigrants, the USA is heaven.

Too bad government social service agencies aren’t subject to INS inspections!

All those employees FAercrombie and -itch got cited for had to have phony social security numbers…!

Well, I guess they’re hiring illegals because the unemployment rate in Michigan is so low, and they can’t get legal Michiganders to do the work.

Of course the token ICE enforcement will stop Nov. 3.

And of course, we’re grateful to American labor unions, the protectors of the American workers, for monitoring the employment of illegals and making sure that prohibitions on employing illegals are enforced.

A little off-subject, but the redoubtable Susan Estrich just had a smarmy column about Meg Whitman where she suggests that Whitman’s floundering in the polls is in part because of anti-illegal immigrant positions she has taken in the primaries.

Meanwhile, it looks like Whitman’s knowingly employed an illegal alien for several years. More sharp, penetrating liberal analysis.

There was a time, long ago, when Abercrombie & Fitch was an honest to god outfitter where you could even buy guns and ammo. The transformation of A&F must have been like watching Cabelas turning into the Gap.

I wonder how much of this story has merit. A&F caters to a trendy youth crowd. How can a store cater to such a fickle crowd with employees that don’t speak English? It is not like picking peaches or working on a construction crew. There is no interaction with customers where most illegals work. I think they got nailed for not filing required paperwork. The only time I have ever walked in one I knew I was too old for this store. The employees were Ken and Barbie types.

This looks like a shakedown to me Immigration comes down on A&F the fines are imposed in the millions the money collected probably goes to some not for profit organization to increase immigration or terrorist group but A&F received the money to pay the fine from a government grant anyway to increase minority employment so they never really paid the fine and some obscure terrorist group received some funds from an American organization that isn’t scrutinized by the public eye which was the primary goal to begin with and no one knows any better.

The A&F employees who are illegals are not necessarily those who directly interface with customers. Also, some illegals without doubt can speak English fluently.

Whitman lost because she is GOP!! And she is a hypocrite as are most GOPS!

Lee in IL on September 30, 2010 at 4:07 pm

Queen NutMeg Whitman is a lying sack of sh*t. She lied about being tough on illegal aliens when she supports amnesty. She lied about supporting Arizona’s law when she doesn’t. She lied about her maid. Then she claimed the illegal alien lied about her status. No sh*t Sherlock. All illegals will lie to get a job. It is the employers job to find out about the status of their workers independent of the employees claims. It is so pathetic to see a BILLIONAIRE having a spat with a desperate illegal alien. Cant wait to see the next debates and the commercials. Queen NutMeg is melting as we speak.

Another joke in the pages of the great comic book adventures of i.c.e. The fines will be mitigated away to mere chump change, there’ll be a deal where A&F skates with no convictions, and the aliens will be processed, released, and disappear into the unknown. All this while, i.c.e. will be basking in their “Look what we did!” limelight.

LMFAO!!!!!
