Who is Jerry Joseph a/k/a Guerdwich Montimere? Mysterious Illegal Alien Basketball Player Dupes ICE Fingerprint Database

Can’t let the end of the week go by without telling you about Jerry Joseph . . . or is that Guerdwich Montimere?

Jerry Joseph a/k/a Guerdwich Montimere:

The Illegal Alien Who Beat ICE’s Fingerprint Database

That’s the problem.  We don’t really know who he is, other than that he’s an illegal alien and star basketball player who is either 16 years old or 22 years old and scamming the system.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says he’s 16-year-old illegal alien Joseph.  But everyone who knows him swears he’s actually the older Geurdwich Montimere.  And that’s been a problem with many, many illegal aliens, especially of the Muslim variety.  We don’t really know who they are and have to go on the names and backgrounds they give us–names and backgrounds which are often false, as was the case with Noureddine X, an alien Muslim who became a naturalized U.S. citizen  and U.S. military contractor, then gave our troops’ movements to Al-Qaeda–causing the ambush murders of several of our soldiers in Iraq.

The case of Joseph/Montimere/Whomever is not as severe, but it gives you a taste of what is an every day  occurrence and difficulty in the cases of far too many illegal aliens and visa violators in our midst.  It also tells me that ICE fingerprint databases don’t work.  Since pretty much everyone else who has encountered “them” says it’s the same person–that Joseph is Montimere, I don’t believe the ICE computer fingerprints that say otherwise.  It begs the question: how many other terrorists and illegal aliens have gone free because ICE’s computerized fingerprint database is a bust? Clearly, ICE’s computers got beaten here and can be duped.

It’s truly a bizarre story, but I think I’ve seen several TV shows and feature movies with the same plot/fact pattern:

Jerry Joseph is either a promising 16-year-old sophomore basketball player at Permian (Odessa, Texas) or he’s Guerdwich Montimere, a 22-year-old who three years ago as a senior helped lead Dillard (Fort Lauderdale) to the Florida 5A state semifinals and was a McDonald’s All American nominee.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Leticia Zamarripa said Wednesday that officials from her agency have proof that, while Joseph is a Haitian who is in the country illegally, he isn’t Montimere.

Joseph is facing an immigration hearing, Zamarripa said.

Officials at Permian are looking into the matter, but Montimere’s former AAU coach, Louis Vives, doesn’t need an investigation to know that Joseph is not just a Montimere look-alike. “The moment I saw him, I knew it was Montimere,” he said.

Vives, a coach with the South Florida Elite, was in Little Rock last month for a tournament. He said two of his players from Dillard first spotted the 6-5 guard they knew as Montimere playing for the New Mexico Force. Vives said the player denied he was Montimere when Vives spoke with him.

“It was shocking, and the question at hand was just why,” Vives said Wednesday. “When I approached him, I just wanted to know what was going on. The surprised look on his face gave it away that it was him. … Once he saw a Florida team and players and coaches who knew him, the look on his face was like, ‘Wow, what am I into now?’ ” . . .

Zamarripa, who’s with the ICE office in El Paso, said investigators had checked an FBI database and determined through fingerprints that Joseph was not Montimere. . . .

Calls Wednesday to the home of Montimere’s family in Fort Lauderdale were not answered.

Pete Norman, then coach of Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill., said Montimere contacted him in 2007 after the player graduated from Dillard. . . . Looking at pictures of Joseph and Montimere, Norman said the two were the same.

If a 20-something basketball player illegal alien can pull off a scam like this and fool ICE–as it appears he is doing–imagine what a 20-something Islamic terrorist illegal alien can pull off and how he/she can fool ICE. Trust me, they have and they will.

Attention, Al-Qaeda: make sure the next Undiebomber should have hoops skills.

Another Systemic Failure. Blame the 12 years of Reagan-Bush, or George W. Rest assured that the current security team appointed by the White House has been on this since; ‘Day One’.

Or so they say.

16 years old? Try finding headwrinkles that deep on any teen and I’ll give you a medical freak!

Lars on May 7, 2010 at 7:03 pm

good point lars, although one can remember deeper wrinkles on an alledgedly 19 year old named Greg Oden!

This story is hillarious. A hulking 22 y/o Haitian illegal passing himslef off as a HS sophomore. These zany illegals are too much!

TV on May 7, 2010 at 8:19 pm

As an All American nominee, why would he not go to college and play against better talent to improve his skills? This does not surprise me at all as I read a story about 4 years ago about muslims in Europe changing or hiding their real fingerprints using an undetectable film like substance.

Soyphobia on May 7, 2010 at 10:12 pm

A person who does not disclose his real name and age when told to do so in a normal and official setting is by definition trying to hide something. Also, it is reasonable to assume that such a person is actively hiding for some reason, and that reason may not be benign.

So this comes as a surprise? i.c.e. missed this like they do everything else regarding illegals; it’s because they don’t have anyone with immigration experience (REAL experience/not sitting behind a desk with a glazed doughnut look on their faces) running the show. Furthermore, and most paramount, is the fact that IT’S NO LONGER THEIR PRIORITY! Hasn’t been since the Bush-blunder following 9/11 of merging the agencies. Chalk it up to another malfeasance committed by legacy customs dweebs and career butt-snorklers who are more interested in building their empires than protecting this country.

Thanks for posting this one Deb…I needed a good laugh!

Hey IceNoMOre…INS did so much better before the merger? I seriously doubt we gained 12+million illegal aliens since the merger.

Customs Forever on May 10, 2010 at 8:44 am

I never said INS was perfect. We gained more illegals after the merger because customs took over the whole agency and knew less about how to fix the problem than INS did so they decided to abandon it altogether and just focus on their agenda…business as usual.

Why don’t you go back to your years old cases you’ve been milking in TECS and stop worrying about it; it’s not a priority anymore.

IceNoMore on May 11, 2010 at 8:09 am

How USA controls it’s borders ?
Now it’s time to many countries to amend immigration laws & controls its borders carefully .
Also citizens should help government & reports illegal immigrants

The database would be FBI, not ICE. and the fingerprints would most likely have been taken by contractors. DHS employeees are much too important to be taking fingerprints. I a lot of cases (not all) proper ID (or any ID) is not required for printing.

#1 Vato on May 8, 2010 at 10:34 am

dhs/i.c.e. still suck. True, there are contractors working and taking prints and that’s just another debacle in its sordid existence. People who have no experience or training being entrusted with the security of the nation while the inbred finalists in the beltway run loose.

IceNoMore on May 8, 2010 at 1:19 pm

I don’t get this story if the finger print does not match why are we giving this kid so much media attention.Even if they are the same person after all of this he will still be a star. People will write movies about this kid! usa is so dumb!!!

Misty on May 9, 2010 at 12:56 pm

Can’t blame the fingerprint database. fingerprints are not infallible and in some federal court jurisdictions are not even considered reliable “evidence”.

Just would wonder about the motive. Good research and reporting DS.

buckjohnson on May 10, 2010 at 9:20 am

IceNoMore – Why are immigration issues Customs’ fault. The INS was dealt with in two sentences in the creation of DHS. You were disbanded and you flag retired. Wow, what a legacy! No training and experience described a whole lot of the former INS’ problems. The rest is no mandate to enforce the law we already have. Look at the outrage over Arizona wanting to enforce the laws our own national congress has enacted. Just like INS’ issues were caused by a lack of leadership, so are ICE’s. With regard to illegals, if they can’t prove who they are, they should have to do it from their home country, not from mine. You have the right to go home. If you give up that right … well, that was the only right you have.

Jus Soli on May 10, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Jus Soli…INS got hosed in the merger and are to blame because they allowed for it to happen. That being said, customs took over i.c.e. and didn’t know what to do with the immigration problem because THEY had no training and didn’t want to be bothered with it. I know because I had to clean up immigration cases started by legacy customs agents because they didn’t know how, refused to learn how, and got a pass from their legacy customs supervision who took over as i.c.e. supervision. Meanwhile, we had TECS and all the other customs crap shoved up our asses and had to learn it overnight.

INS had a lot of training but if you can’t put it to action (thank Congress and the HQ butt-snorklers for that) it’s meaningless. So, here you have the majority of i.c.e. leadership being customs or political appointees with little or no immigration training and, you expected what?

Regarding your comment, “You have the right to go home…”, I’m not quite sure where you were intending to go with that but it was interesting psychobabble nonetheless.

IceNoMore on May 11, 2010 at 8:23 am

Montimere is not an illegal alien. He is a U.S. citizen.

shaheinm on May 12, 2010 at 11:43 am

As of this past Tuesday, he was arrested and charged with presenting false identification.

Deb,
You hit this one outta the park. Just heard it on radio network news (abcradio) that this one has gone nationwide. It seems our “sophomore” basketball star was living with the coach and is now being charged with rape….how fitting.

Rick1026 on May 14, 2010 at 10:08 pm

trust on June 29, 2011 at 4:15 am

An illegal immigrant, 22 years old,..still in high school and a rapist?? Yeah, that sounds typical.

“Montimer was originally arrested Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge of failure to identify himself to a police officer, and school officials said he admitted that he wasn’t Joseph. He was arrested again Thursday on a third-degree felony charge of tampering with a government document.

A jail official said Friday there was no information about whether Montimer had an attorney. The sexual assault charge, a second-degree felony, carries a sentence of two to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Based on information provided by the girl, investigators determined Montimer “intentionally and knowingly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old juvenile and portrayed himself to be 15 years old when he was actually 21 years of age,” Carruth, the Odessa police official, said in a statement.”
