South Park Creators: “We Lost [on Mohammed] . . . That’s Just F****d Up; NYTimes, ViaCom P*ssed Out”

By Debbie Schlussel

Watch this Boing Boing interview with “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.  They’re celebrating their 200th episode and they want to mock Mohammed.  But, in the past, ViaCom, parent company of Comedy Central, on which their show is broadcast, refused to let their Mohammed episode air.  They discuss this and their planned attempt to bring back Mohammed.  They’re right on target, ripping on the New York Times, Viacom, Comedy Central, etc. for all kowtowing to Islamic extremism.  (Thanks, reader Duane.)

A muslim group has threatened the creators with death. They posted a picture of van gogh dead and said is this how Tray Parker and Matt Stone want to end up?

tyler on April 20, 2010 at 2:40 pm

Its interesting the only figure off limits to satire is Mohammed. Islam must always be taken seriously. If you jest about it, keep your head safe. Trey and Parker are challenging the one long standing politically correct taboo no one dares to transgress.

NormanF on April 20, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Groups that threaten death, bodily harm, or the destruction of property should be prosecuted if they are in the United States.

Worry01 on April 20, 2010 at 2:55 pm

Wake me up when they give Mo an anal probe (ala Cartman). Would love to hear the howling over that!

Graty Slapchop on April 20, 2010 at 3:09 pm

Sounds hilarious….
Maybe they can “Leak” it out on YouTube or something…..

Shootist on April 20, 2010 at 3:19 pm

Apparently there already is a death threat out. Here is the link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJkP6sRXFdg

I got the link from Diana West’s site (http://dianawest.net/)

I_AM_ME on April 20, 2010 at 3:20 pm

I love South Park and have their characters magnetically attached to my frig 🙂

Ask Lee Rodgers if the muzzies can kill without leaving a body.

goldenmike4393 on April 20, 2010 at 3:40 pm

    golden,

Like duh, it’s called setting the body on fire. DUH. Or like Iran, a nuclear warhead. Turns all and everyone around to ashes. Such a duh answer. Like duh, dog.

mark on April 20, 2010 at 3:43 pm

Please! Step away from the keyboard.

You don’t understand killing someone without leaving a body? It’s destruction of your spirit or soul by some sort of intimidation or action.

Physical murder is different. You can become prosecuted for it. But killing without leaving a body is a murder that cannot be prosecuted.

      goldenmike4393 on April 20, 2010 at 6:12 pm

It has nothing at all to do with ‘politically correct’ it’s the network infidels dont wanna get their heads chopped off.

All the islamic world would have to do is make it clear what nation So.Park creators are from AND what religous background they are. Then watch what happens.

If Parker and Stone are serious about their “courageous” irreverance, all they have to do is post the episode on their own website for sale. Cut out the network middlemen, and see what happens.

Funny thing about kowtowing. When they know that the perps are serious and carry out what they say they will…amazing how well it works. “mess with our holy religion, and….” Amazing how the results work.

Easy to mock and impugn long established traditions with virtually no warlike followers behind them.

But if someone messes with Islam the wrong folks will hear about it, and presto…rip.
Wonder when parker and Stone will dare try to air the episode on their own website.
Oh well, guess they’ll just have to show their REAL courage and bash Christianity some more, that’ll show how courageous they are.

Wimps. Scared dihimmi wimps. Who dont wanna get their heads chopped off and have that posted on some islamic website.

mark on April 20, 2010 at 3:41 pm

That makes no sense, and I don’t think you have actually watched the video. Stone and Parker are pretty much the only people who have displayed real willingness to mock Muhammad, and have already lampooned the Muslim world repeatedly. Their “Cartoon Wars” episodes will likely be remembered centuries from now among the great works of Western satire.
As for posting it to their own site, they are almost certainly barred by their contractual relationship with Viacom from doing so.

ibn Abu on April 20, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Yes, I thought that might be a copyright infringement legality technicality. Very convenient. Right. “We really wanna be rebels but our networks won’t let us. See how much political rebels we really are?”

Right. Mm-hmm. Dihimmis who hide behind technicalities to show how brave they are.

How about: They join the USO and entertain the troops? They can mock Islam IN The middle east for the US troops as part of their entertainment. Public show, for charity, and that would be okay. Of course, then they run the risk of becoming more noticed to the Islamic world.

“Stone and Parker are pretty much the only people who have displayed real willingness to mock Muhammad, and have already lampooned the Muslim world repeatedly.”

NO they are NOT the only ones. Theodor Van Geough did a lot more to Examine “mock” etc regarding Islam.

AGAIN. The Danish Cartoonist did a lot more to “mock” Muhammad, and look what has occured to him. The Dutch film maker van geogh “mocked” Islam and what happened to him?

All the Islamic world would have to do repeatedly make mention of what country So park’s creators are from AND what religion they are.
And they would repeat it over and over and OVER again, for say, several months.
What then do you think would happen. (Let’s connect the dots)

Granted, they have occassionally made mention of Islam. But, by calculations, they bash Christianity 5 to 10 times more than they do Islam.

Again. For the slow people. If there is a concerted effort to single the creators out for mocking Islam as well as repeatedly naming their country and religious background……..what do you think will happen?

Answer: Uh, is equal 4 since I’ve already added up the 2s.

mark on April 20, 2010 at 4:02 pm

South park is hack work created by second rate Howard Stern wannabes who are hacks. Wont even be remembered in coming decades especially if the Jihad is won by Islam and US becomes part of Islamic world.

You forgot about that little historical thingy (Islam, warlike, jihad = war, etc.)
I get ya, dog. I get ya.

mark on April 20, 2010 at 4:08 pm

He’s spot on when he said that every newspaper should have printed the Mohamed cartoons as a show of freedom and solidarity.

stevecanuck on April 20, 2010 at 3:48 pm

I will never forget how those morons who made that flick called “2012” showed all kinds of destruction but censored themselves to avoid any possibility of a fatwa. Self-imposed Dhimmitude or worse.

Hurray for the So.Park guys!

PC on April 20, 2010 at 4:46 pm

Yep, hooray. Cause they’re such a paragon of values and virtues and want only the betterment of society. They’re only in it for the message and not to make some cheap bucks.
    Yeah..sure they are.

If the jihad comes, they’ll be among the first chopped off.
“When the revolution comes we will execute the capitalists with the very rope they sold us.”–V.I. Lenin

    So park first, Borat second.

NOW THEN,

Read the latest post about US Muslim already here being sentenced. Very important and this suggests a disturbing trend.
Story’s about Abdullah Mohammed Muslim a/k/a Johnnie P. Clagg

AGAIN,to Ibin Abu, and others, all it takes is ONE islamist extremist, JUST ONE. IN THIS COUNTRY. Should he come to conclusion to visit So Park Creators.
AGAIN, What do you think the result will be? If someone like him already in US decides to pay them a visit.
What will the result be?

Just askin’ dog, just askin’.

mark on April 20, 2010 at 5:08 pm

You can’t have it both ways. First you say that Parker and Stone are cowards for not violating U.S. law and their contracts, now you say it doesn’t matter because they’ve already invited death. If they’ve done so they can hardly be cowards.

ibn Abu on April 20, 2010 at 5:14 pm

Stone and Parker are right to ask why it is that everything can be mocked … except Mohammed. It seems that they *want* to tackle the issue, unlike the folks involved in The Simpsons who admit they are afraid to do so.

The issue was discussed in a feature piece “Are the Simpsons Jewish?” in Moment magazine a few years ago. Folks involved with the show admitted that simple fear persuaded them not to touch Islam. That’s why when they finally *did* have an episode featuring a Muslim, they portrayed him as a demolitions engineer – so there was a good reason for the explosives Homer found in his garage. Way to wuss out, guys!

Raymond in DC on April 20, 2010 at 5:41 pm

Like…uh…you know…uh…like basically…it’s not new, like, uh, stuff, you know…but we kinda came up with like a new idea…

Another great moment in journalism, wherein our media elites are exposed for the cowards they are by self-absorbed anti-intellectual opportunists being interviewed by a ditzy media bimbo.

Michael on April 20, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Stone and Parker have some sacred cows. Until they give Obama even a fraction of the ripping they gave Bush, they’re hypocrites. Here is another: Race issues involving blacks in the inner city and single black mothers The farthest they’ll go on the black issue is the pimp caricature, which has been done a million times. So easy for them to stereotype an Asian restaurateur. Let’s see them run an equivalent stereotype of the black “day care center” owner in the slums of Milwaukee or Detroit.

David on April 20, 2010 at 6:24 pm

Screw you mohammed and all the other p.o.s. muzzies that think you are above the law and everyone else. The way I see it you all are nothing but a bunch of barbaric sub-morons.

I wonder if we would have been seeing cartoons like this during WWII if Japan were in control of a big chunk of the world’s oil reserves:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YC7z0T0DaQI

If they aren’t allowed to bring back Mohammed, I hope Parker & Stone will at least be allowed to resurrect Osama Bin Laden and his farty-pants.

Daniel H on April 20, 2010 at 8:55 pm

One important difference between Holland and Here in the U.S. is that we can arm ourselves. That said, those two South Park creators don’t look much like the gun carrying type (then again, neither did Bernie Goetz). Can’t imagine them actually using a gun if they had one. Also, Muslims haven’t executed any celeb artists on this soil. Doing so would open up a can of worms (one that the Obama Administration could and might use to their advantage). Interesting situation and interesting timing as well. Just an attempt on their lives could make a great many of us Infidels very uncomfortable about our neighbors.I haven’t heard Bill Clinton doing press conferences about this inflamatory retoric yet…Hmmmmm, what’s keeping him?

B: Muslims have threatened many celebrities and movie productions and gotten them to cancel concerts and alter scripts of movies. Have written about many of these. DS

Bob on April 21, 2010 at 2:49 am

I hate SOUTH PARK anyway, doing this ugly cheap self promotion, be more creative for the world to see instead of creating hatred among people…bad stuff…

summer on April 21, 2010 at 3:45 am

Stone and Parker must be stoned for even contemplating a stupid move like this. With all the violence recently, they clearly have learnt nothing. With freedoms come responsibilities and even moreso when you are a creator of a popular TV show.

There is no such thing as absolute freedom of speech and expression and even in so-called mature democracies like the US, slander and tarnishing of one’s reputation carries with it, very real legal reprecussions. In Germany, to deny the holocaust for example, carries prison terms and there are many laws that safeguard civil society in almost all countries.

Southpark has touched on many controversial and sensational issues in the past; and they’ve gotten away with it. I think they’ve chewed more than they can swallow this time. Muslims, unlike other faith establishements, do NOT take lightly any mockery of their sacred symbols.

matin88 on April 22, 2010 at 2:22 am

Mark. You are a dolt. Mohammed needs mocking just like anything else that takes itself too seriously. Christian religious police commited quite a few atrocities punishing blasphemy in the dark ages before we learned to shower and wear deoderant. Join the 21st century, come out of your cave.

Tom on April 22, 2010 at 8:56 am

Yes Mohammed…oops I mean matin88. Muslims definitely do not take lightly any mockery of their fake sacred symbols – they just kill anyone who would dare mock them. What a miserable “religion”. I just get more and more disgusted with these cult of Mohammed members.

Angela04 on April 22, 2010 at 9:12 am

I hate people who don’t have respect for other people’s cultures.
Like those f***ing Muslims.
All in all, the IDEA, that a nation like ours, can’t put down a 4th or 5th grade power, as the Islamo-Nazi regime in Tehran, is really shocking. It’s STUNNING! And most of it is due to internal politics. Well there’s a lot to do. This just is amazing to me.

Ich kann auf diese Weise eingeben, aber mach mich nicht falsch. Ich habe es schon gesagt und ich sage es noch einmal (weil es immer dann gelöscht wird): Um politische Korrektheit Ende, ein Muslim zu töten.?

I was walking down the road when I saw an Afghan dude standing on a fifth floor balcony shaking a carpet.
I shouted up to him, “What’s up Abdul, won’t it f***ing start?”
Anyway, he invited me to a Muslim birthday party. Kind of nervous about going. My Muslim girlfriend took me to one … the “musical chairs” was a bit slow, but, F*** ME, the “pass the parcel” was quick!!!
Afterwards, my Muslim girlfriend kept talking about a blow-job. What? should I do, unzip my pants or call National Security?

Ed Davila on April 23, 2010 at 6:33 am

Sticking to the issue of the article: South Park satirizes EVERYBODY.They have a Jesus character who’s a regular now and then. They satarize the Jew kid, Kyle, every episode. I don’t see Christians or Jews stabbing people and cutting their heads off because of satire! I know they (Matt Stone and Trey Parker) ain’t conservatives, because Matt once said, “I hate conservatives, but I REALLY f***ing hate liberals.” (he said it, not me). But I hope Matt and Trey get themselves some guns, because the federal government has no intention on protecting them.
Buy some “.45 infidel” calibers. Or hire some conservatives that carry guns. Because “Muslims: the religion of peace” they AIN’T.
I don’t want to see Matt and Trey to end up like that film-maker, Gogh, who made a movie satirizing Muslims and ended up dead at the hands of Muslim extremists. Or that cartoonist for a newspaper who drew a picture of Mohammed.
