Priorities, Shmiorities: Barack Obama Takes Major Step in Dying Economy

By Debbie Schlussel

Major job losses continue throughout America and a tough economy endures.  Companies continue to walk away and ship jobs elsewhere.  Unemployment in places like Michigan is up to 16% but in real unemployment it’s more like upwards of 20%, when you count those who are not looking anymore and have given up.  And the associated problems of lack of spending and, therefore, loss of more jobs.

Barack Takes Important Step to Save America

So, how does President Barack Obama address this?  Well, he takes the most important step in creating jobs and opportunity in America.  And that’s the real March Madness:

The Hoopster-in-Chief chose Kansas, Kentucky, Kansas State and Villanova to make the men’s Final Four.

And as I noted, this star-struck, look-at-me-I’m-Prez cretin did the same thing, last year. And just like, last year, he made a big deal of spending time with ESPN to make his picks and present them in a special video, today. Maybe one day, he’ll make the American people his pick. Wishful thinking.

Oh, and in case, he didn’t waste enough time on this trivial matter, Obama also made his picks in the most irrelevant sporting event out there, the womens’ NCAA basketball tournament.

Priorities, shmiorities. We know he’s not serious. And, in case we needed more proof (we didn’t), this is it.

Obama makes such a mockery of the Office of the President of the United States — it isn’t even funny. (He brings about world-wide laughter at the United States as well, btw. But, of course, that wouldn’t bother Obama. I personally have a very difficult time considering him as an “American.” He’s a “citizen of the world”, as he himself proclaims. And, I believe he deeply, deeply despises most of America and all for which America has (in the past) stood for.

J.S. on March 17, 2010 at 11:22 am

What did you expect? When brain-dead people elect a brain-dead president, then all you see happening is the results that most of us expected. Get use to it…it ain’t gonna get any better.

arejaymack on March 17, 2010 at 11:23 am

Unemployment numbers are taken from the registries of those receiving unemployment. Anyone not, which included those who left on their own and
now seek to come back, those whose “own fault” it was they got fired (even if
the criteria are totally subjective and unprovable and yes, it DOES happen espeically in Customer Service type jobs.) and those who fell ill or
injured and were terminated because the company didn’t want to pay their disability. (happened to my DH. had an ADA disability the company refused
to recognize)
So there are a lot of people as Debbie says who aren’t being counted who have almost no chance at a job anytime soon.

…Emperor Nero…

Stop distracting us from the real issues, Debbie. I filled out my bracked this morning; it took me 20 minutes; its not a big deal except for people with Obama derangement syndrome. Bush spent 1/4 of his presidency vacationing, so Obama is still beating him on hours.

zigo on March 17, 2010 at 12:14 pm

At least when Bush was “vacationing” he was still on the job, constantly in touch with reality. Can’t say that about O’Buttcrust. By the way, what was the “chosen one” doing on his vacations while the economy was going in the tank; oh yeah, f***king off!

Put down the bong and the kool-aid and get with the program mope!

IceNoMore on March 17, 2010 at 1:32 pm

Obama is out of touch even when at “work.”

Sam Adams on March 17, 2010 at 1:51 pm

Yes, you too have proven yourself to be socially useless. Is that what your intention was?

    sorrow01 on March 17, 2010 at 7:10 pm

Oh, and Obama couldn’t have spent that long on his bracket because he made horrible picks. Nova in the final 4? You would have had to literally have not watched any college basketball this year to think that could happen. And everybody knows that Kansas St. will lose to either BYU or Syracuse before they make it to the Final 4. Kansas State and Villanova are both horrible. A 6 year old could have made better picks.

zigo on March 17, 2010 at 12:17 pm

If you have that much time on your hands to make Final Four picks then you’re either: a) independently wealthy or, b)another libtard freeloader waiting to latch onto the government tit while your lazy butt is glued to the tv watching college basketball.

IceNoMore on March 17, 2010 at 1:36 pm

Debbie you have it backwards.

I would rather he spent his time on things that do not matter. That means he will spend less time ruining things that do matter.

I_AM_ME on March 17, 2010 at 12:27 pm

    Man, isn’t that the truth?

Spike Lee once showed footage of Bush the Father golfing in a montage of showing minorities suffering in America. I wonder when he’ll get around to doing the same with Obama–forget it, it’ll never happen.

Watching the media interview and report on Obama is as excruciating as watching Ahmad Rashad interview good buddy Michael Jordan.

Richard on March 17, 2010 at 1:08 pm

We need a serious man to lead our country through difficult and serious times. Instead we have a petulant child who is nothing more then a flat out liar, socialist and Muslim. I’ve watch Obambi closely since he stole the election and it seems to me that he’s just been in campaign mode ever since. With all his speechifying, traveling around the 57 states pushing his socialist agenda, his travels overseas, his date nights with Shelly when does he even have the time to govern the country. He’s delegated his responsibility as President to irresponsible people like Aunt Nasty Pelosi, Chuckie Schumer and Harry Reid and surrounded himself with rabid agenda driven radicals, socialists and out outright communists.

Did I miss anything?

kenny komodo on March 17, 2010 at 1:38 pm

    Yeah you did:

    He has really BIG ears.

Sam Adams on March 17, 2010 at 1:54 pm

Frankly, I’m glad he’s spending his time on filling out brackets. That means he has less time to mess up the rest of the economy and force through more welfare state programs. I wish he and Congress would do nothing but play and vacation and leave us taxpayers alone.

Kaiser Sozay on March 17, 2010 at 2:03 pm

kenny komodo — you might have added when Obama is on his overseas jaunts, he’s making apologies to all and sundry for the multiple crimes and criminality of AmeriKKKa. (that’s when he’s not blowing reverentially, in abject awe, to Arab dictators and Japanese emperors.)

J.S. on March 17, 2010 at 2:12 pm

So what if he made picks for the NCAA basketball tournaments? Since when does the President have to work 24/7? There’s nothing wrong with the President taking a little bit of time for entertainment, just like there was nothing wrong with Eric Cantor attending a Britney Spears concert or Pres. Bush attending baseball games.

According to the article, Obama made selections for the women’s tournament because he was criticized by feminists for not doing so last year.

Keamon on March 17, 2010 at 2:14 pm

OHHHHHHHhhhh PLEASE! zero-bama is on a permanent vacation. 24/7.

He has never worked a day in his life.

Sewsalot on March 17, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Yes, I am sure you would have advised Louis XVI to continue having lavish balls during the famine in 1789. Even from a left standpoint, President Obama really has a tin ear when it comes to such matters. He promised to get on top of unemployment this year, but all we hear about are his health care proposals. Mr. Obama apparently would find chewing gum and walking straight a challenge, since he seems to be incapable of devoting his attention to more than one serious public policy matter at a time.

    sorrow01 on March 17, 2010 at 7:17 pm

how are lavish balls comparable to filling out a bracket?

Keamon on March 17, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Speaking of the American economy — and how Obama doesn’t seem to be taking matters seriously — it has been reported in the Canadian news that Moody’s (they give out credit ratings to countries) — Moody’s is threatening to downgrade America’s credit standing, from triple A status. (That’s if Obama doesn’t get serious about the growing debt of the U.S. Moody’s is threatening to do the same with the UK.)

J.S. on March 17, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I dunno, Deb.

Given the President’s policy intentions, the less real work he does, the less real harm he’ll do.

There is NO Santa Claus on March 17, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Booo Hooo Hooo, I have Obama Derangement Syndrome, anything this man does makes me mad, boo hoo hoo, he’s watching TV? I’m so mad, boo hoo hoo. He’s having dinner with his wife? He should be working. Stop crying, conservatives and start doing something for this country; oh, that’s right, you would rather sit around and complain

zigo on March 17, 2010 at 2:48 pm

So, what are you doing aside from eating cheetos in mommy’s basement? Are you working, or have you created a job? This economy does not just hurt conservatives, but everyone else who is trying to survive. It would be nice if President Obama actually addressed this issue seriously, rather than devoting 90% of his time to his health care fetish. You can blame Bush for a time, but after a year plus people begin to ask what you are doing about it, and President Obama does not really have an answer.

    sorrow01 on March 17, 2010 at 7:22 pm

So people complain when the government is too involved in everything, now they complain when he makes pics for a basketball tourney. Get a life, every president has and will take time out of their day to watch sports, regular TV, movies, and have fun. If you co not like Obama, fine, confront him about his policies you do not like, but to make a big deal about making basketball picks sounds like childish whining.

timewave on March 17, 2010 at 4:43 pm

President Obama is a great basketball player. Look at the slam dunk he did on GM and all the American jobs.

Tim on March 17, 2010 at 6:54 pm

GM was in trouble wwwwwaaaaayyyyy before Obama, you can blame him for some stuff, but not for GM.

timewave on March 18, 2010 at 10:16 am

Damnit, BHO gave the kiss of death to my alma mater by picking them for the final four. Now ‘Nova won’t go anywhere in the tournament.

Jarhead on March 17, 2010 at 7:20 pm

Boo Hoo Hoo, I thought conservatives were all about the free market. Why are you complaining about the President not fixing the economy? The free market will fix the economy. I thought conservatives were against government intervention fixing the economy. So what are you dodos complaining about??????

zigo on March 17, 2010 at 7:47 pm

Oh, and Jarhead, Nova won’t go anywhere in the tournament because they suck. Hope this helps.

zigo on March 17, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Did Obama get around to saying anything about the two Americans who were killed in Mexico?

Isn’t that more imporant than his women’s college basketball predictions?

Barry Popik on March 17, 2010 at 11:41 pm

Wow. What anger. Anger undermines credibility.

Do your readers really think that this anger and loathing are productive? And that President Obama is supposed to be “brain dead”, that he “despises” America, that he’s “a petulant child”, a “liar, socialist and Muslim”? Come on, really? That sounds like my child during a tantrum.

Bush notoriously told the American people “if you aren’t with us, you’re against us”, and we’ve all been angry at each other ever since.

But the nation’s motto is “e pluribus unum”. Let’s work together through a legislative process, through our representatives, to influence public policy. But let’s not hurl stones at each other. The risks to our system and lifestyle are not our elected leaders.

pb on September 10, 2010 at 6:31 pm

pb: In the words of Jeremiah Wright (BHO’s pastor for 17 years, with whom he still speaks), “G-d damn America!” And, yes, BHO has lied about numerous things during the last two years. When he signed the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, President Obama swore that the unemployment rate would reach 8 percent and no higher. Right now, it’s a staggering 9.8% officially, and is actually much higher b/c it excludes people whose employment benefits expired, etc.

The President also lied about being able to close Gitmo, the prison for Islamic terrorists.

And don’t forget his promise that taxes wouldn’t go up. The instant that Tea Party activists and lawyers filed a suit against the Affordable Care Act, Obama claimed that the penalty for failing to purchase insurance was actually a “tax” and, therefore, legal under the Federal Constitution.

Finally, there was the promise that Obama wouldn’t compromise with Republicans on the extension of tax cuts for the wealthy – and he caved on that, too.

In short, then, President Barack Hussein Obama is a man entirely devoid of principles. I wouldn’t be surprised if he switched his allegiance to the Republican Party in order to win the 2012 election. No principles whatsoever.

If you were actually smart enough to know how to use Google before posting your stupidity on Debbie’s blog, you would know that there are many Web sites out there cataloguing the President’s false campaign promises.

The rest of your comment is just good ol’ political correctness. And as for hurling stones, why don’t you tell that to the idiots who are blaming the Arizona massacre on the Tea Party? Lefties LOOOVE to dance on the graves of the murdered … and they are using this horrid tragedy as a political opportunity to demonize the other side. Truth of the matter is, the Arizona massacre has absolutely nothing to do with the Tea Party, and everything to do with a degenerate’s indoctrination with the literature of Karl Marx and Adolf Hitler.

Oh, and please stop mentioning Bush. He is not President; Obama is. When you can’t defend your guy, you attack another. As I say to Muslims who pretend that other religions are equally violent, “you can’t defend your ideology by attacking another.” It’s silly and stupid.

Good-bye, PB.
