Arafat may have died of AIDS and may have been gay. However, to say that he was “fruity” or gay, because he died of AIDS is illogical and foolish.
There is some correlation, but no causality, between the two. You should know better.

Since longislandnurse is looking for causality, let’s ask how Arafat contracted the virus. If by sex, that begs the question: Was the Arab Dr. Evil a bottom?
Acquiring the virus is more likely that way than the other way. Yet that’s the lowest of the low (for a man) among Arabs, down there with dogs and the soles of shoes. Sure, he might have acquired it by horsing around the other way, but common sense suggests, first, that he took it. Plausible to consider, strange to picture, and virtually impossible to get any of hs entourage to admit to.
It’s possible he acquired it through a blood transfusion, but testimony (as from Terry McAuliffe) that he was touchy-feely-grabby with men leads back to the sexual conjecture.

That he was a closeted gay male has been fairly well established. That he very likely died of AIDS has been fairly well established.
However, it’s intellectually dishonest to say that Arafat was gay *because* he had AIDS.
To answer Jeremiah’s pending question, I don’t know what his preferred sexual position would’ve been. Experience has taught me not to assume such things by someone’s appearance, culture, or public behavior.
