“Justice” for Bernie Kerik, But NOT for Shi’ite Muslim Majida Mourad

By Debbie Schlussel

Even though he stands to do up to 61 years in prison, former New York Police head honcho Bernard Kerik’s guilty plea, Thursday, was buried amid news of the Islamic terrorist massacre at Fort Hood.

Bernard Kerik, Majida Mourad: Double Standards of “Justice”

You have to wonder at the double standards of  “justice” applied to former Bush Homeland Security chief nominee Kerik and former Bush energy advisor Majida Mourad, a Shi’ite Muslim lobbyist and former Bush Administration energy advisor.

Both lied on federal forms and to White House personnel officials in the Bush Administration.  But only one of them was prosecuted.  The other, Ms. Mourad, lives the life of Al-Riley.

Last week, Kerik pleaded guilty to lying on federal forms he signed and in statements to Bush administration officials vetting his background upon President Bush nominating him to become Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.  One of those officials was Julie L. Myers, who later chose herself to become the incompetent, unqualified Assistant Homeland Security Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Myers is also believed to be the apparent source for leaks to The Washington Post of confidential government documents and negative information on Kerik.  The leaks appeared designed to harm his defense of the federal indictment he faced and to which he pleaded guilty to, in part, Thursday.

But the federal prosecution contrasts starkly with the absolute non-prosecution of Majida Mourad, a Shi’ite Muslim advisor to Spencer Abraham, the former Energy Secretary and U.S. Senator and now a lobbyist for Muslim and Mid-East nations.  (Abraham’s wife, Jane Hershey Abraham, is the President of Team Sarah, the Sarah Palin networking and promotion site.)  Mourad secured a political nomination from President Bush to be a high-ranking advisor to Abraham at the Department of Energy.  But, as noted in a story I broke, last fall, Mourad lied on forms for federal employment and top secret security clearance forms, claiming she had a college degree from Indiana University.  In fact, the only “degree” Mourad had was a piece of paper marking her graduation from cosmetology school.  (Like I said then, she has one up on “Frenchie” from “Grease,” the beauty school drop-out.  But that’s about it.)

Bush Administration officials and federal investigators discovered Mourad’s very serious violation of federal law, but they and Abraham covered it up, forcing Energy Department employees to sign agreements not to disclose Mourad’s serious federal crime and firing others.  Mourad had also claimed this degree when she applied for work with Abraham at his U.S. Senate office and with several Congressional offices on Capitol Hill, including that of Congressman Sonny Bono.

Many former Bush Administration officials are wondering why Kerik had the book thrown at him by the Bushies, but Mourad got away with it, even though as an Energy Department employee, she arranged for tours of our nuclear facilities to representatives of Muslim nations and arranged for them to be instructed in details of our how those facilities were secured.

Now, Mourad is a high-paid partner at Abraham’s lobbying firm for Muslim nations, The Abraham Group, LLC, and a has a clean criminal record because she didn’t get the Bernie Kerik treatment for lying on federal forms.  Instead of getting indicted and going to prison like Kerik, she’s dating much older former AOL owner Jim Kimsey and hanging out with Israel-haters at Arab film festivals she sponsors with her friend, Jihad Darrell a/k/a Congressman Darrell Issa.  Last year, the McCain campaign–with it’s terrific Sarah-Palin-vetting system, chose Mourad to head it’s Arab Americans, Lebanese Americans, and Muslim Americans for Mccain groups.

And many of her former colleagues are wondering why Mourad has never faced justice for the crime she repeatedly committed, including on security clearance forms, a national security breach.  Perhaps it has something to do with the Bush Administration policy of pandering to Muslims and not going after them for many of their crimes in order to appease Mid-East leaders.

Poor Bernie Kerik.  He was only married to an Arab and wasn’t one himself.  If only . . ., maybe he, too, would have gotten away with it like Majida Mourad.

Um, isn’t this political correctness for Muslims and Arabs the same thing that brought us the Fort Hood Massacre?

I agree. I am also wondering why the inconsistent treatment. But what I don’t quite get is why, in your blog, you made multiple references to Sarah Palin? She had absolutely nothing to do with any of this and as to her vetting process all of the trumped up charges proved to be false.

I don’t know, maybe my imagination is running rampant. Palin hires the wife of an Arab lobbyist to run her team and Palin’s husband was an oil company worker.
I know he supposedly was only in the field but….. why did he also quit his job right now? Not really to settle into being Mr. Mom/Grandmom. Something in my gut is sensing a connection. I can’t put it all together. Not enough info.
Stupid American Jews who went ga-ga over her dime store Israeli flag. When weill our tribe ever learn? AMERICAN Politicians are NOT our friends.

I have been a great admirer of Sarah Palin – despite all your criticisms of her. However, this one really gives me pause. (Of course, I will attempt to independently verify, but if it is as you say, this raises a red flag — in a big way.)

Ms Schlussel: Question: If the Obama Administration is going to throw the book at Mr Kerik for lying on a form, what, pray tell, will be the charges levied against President Obama if/when it turns out that he also lied to the American people, about, say….. His place of birth? Sources of his campaign funding?

M: The indictment came under the Bush Administration. The Obama Administration continued with prosecuting it. DS

There’s no comparison between what Bernard Kerik did, and what Majida Mourad did. Kerik was up on corruption charges, Mourad just padded her resume. If you’re going to bash Muslims, at least do it correctly.

NB: Wrong. It’s exactly the same thing. They both lied to federal background vetters in the Bush Admin and on federal forms. The only difference is that he was indicted, pleaded guilty and stands to do time. She got away with it and has a great life. DS

Henry G. Cisneros might be more apt.

I don’t understand this constant persecution of Bernard Kerik. I think, however, it has something to do with getting back at Giuliani and making sure he does not run for public office again. BTW: I don’t appreciate the constant bashing of Sarah Palin. Enough!

He’s not a member of the weather underground, nor or the nation of islam so they’ll probably give him the chair. I’m disappointed at Guiliiana not trying to help his old friend.
